thumbup.gif  thumbup.gif  million thx sifu~  notworthy.gif

I think u can add this method to 1st page.
I managed to find 2 methods to backup IMEI, 1 require ADB which is im totally not familiar of. Another 1 seems like the easiest way but it require root explorer which is a paid app. I think using SGS Tools is the easiest way for newbie like me, jz a simple click, done~  rclxms.gif
*
Yup, totally forgotten about how handy sgs tools is.

is that custom roms were solved all the jamming and gps problem ?
*
custom kernel and custom rom are both responsible to fix all the lagginess.

For gps problem, can refer 1st page under GPS/WIFI subheading.

So you are going for Tegra2 instead of Exynos... IMO, Tegra2 is the better choice. It will have more official and un-official support since there are many other devices also using Tegra2 chipset.
*
No. I am not changing phone. I'll wait for at least kal-el or wayne chip on a tablet. I imagine playing football manager on wine with ubuntu dualboot with android rclxm9.gif

hello everyone,

i just connected my phone to my laptop via KIES
and it says that I have an update available

Current firmware version: PDA:JPO / PHONE:JPP / CSC:JP3 (DBT)
Latest firmware version: PDA:JQ3 / PHONE:JPY / CSC:JS2 (DBT)

Im currently on stock ROM,
phone is rooted using z4root and OCLF installed
will these apps in any way interfere with the firmware updating process?

or is it completely safe for me to update?
much help is greatly appreciated, thanx! biggrin.gif
*
Shouldn't interfere. But unrooting is only one button click away.

1. if you have flashed speedmod, at recovery mode can use "mount usb storage" at "mount and storage" menu

2. can use myphoneexplorer or Android manager wifi to transfer files by wifi

3. use external sdcard

just flash cwm. if have issue, need to use odin. odin method gives a fresh phone as it kick out all stubborn files left in previous darkyy rom.

which one is more friendly and easy to use?
if from darky 9.2 and want to flash to Simply 2.4 using wipe, do i need to flash to stock rom first? coz might have the 'stubborn files' also right?
*
i am familiar with myphoneexplorer because I used it with SE k700i. android manager wifi has more features.

QUOTE(zumapuma @ Mar 8 2011, 10:29 PM)
tried 3 times to update using KIES,
failed because it said "lost connection" or something
thats weird cuz i never even touched the damn USB cable..zzz
its times like these, i wish i knew/could understand how to flash..zzzz
*
It happens. Samsung only knows how to make beautiful screen and flash disk. They are bad at making software sad.gif Many of us skip kies and download 2.2.1 stock rom and flash with odin or straightaway use custom rom.

If you want to learn, I made a simple diagram/flow chart that you can start with. http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...post&p=40561771

Erm, guys,

is there anyway to set a wallpaper if I'm using only one homescreen without using any third party apps?

480x800 pixel doesn't work, it forces me to crop it.

I searched around the Web, people are suggesting 960x800 pixel, doesn't work for me.

Thanks in advance.  notworthy.gif

---

Solved, 960x800 pixel does work.  tongue.gif
*
Hmm interesting. A quick google shows up this: http://androidcommunity.com/forums/f62/is-...allpaper-33510/

So you need to make a static livewallpaper with the desired background.

Try looking at this and ownskin

ok didn't see it was solved thumbup.gif

so i place the  speedmod-kernel-k13c-500hz.tar at pda and then start?
and then wait for it to boot?
how long should i wait?
and should it vibrate intermittently again?

after that place the djxpe_2 file at PDA also?
*
You have to finish flashing DXJPE first and then reboot.

Then flash speedmod kernel odin method.

Actually if you downloaded eclair firmware like JM8, you can straightaway flash sweethoney 2.4 because eclair firmwares has 2e recovery. Thus no need to flash speedmod kernel to get 2e recovery.

QUOTE(dahool00 @ Mar 9 2011, 02:54 PM)
Hello, I plan to get an Android phone.
I am very new as this would be my 1st Android.

I happen to come across Galaxy S SL....i know it is a h/w downgrade from SGS.

I'd like to find out the volume of the SGS loudspeaker. GSMArena mentioned it is below average while Mobile Review said it is strong. I did hear over the counter on SG SL - I think it is pretty OK - at least louder than HTC Desire HD.

Also, any reason why pick SGS over HTC Desire or Desire HD or SE X10?

Hope you guys can answer me as i know my Qs are pretty lame considering u guys are flashing ROMs.

Thks!!!
*
loudspeaker on sgs is fine. loud enough.

sgs: IMO, most beautiful because of super amoled. you need to see the screen in person. the rest are normal lcd screen. rooting, custom roms are plain easy.
DHD: bigger screen with same resolution with sgs, thus will be a bit less dpi.
htc desire: i recommend this over sgs for my parents smile.gif I would not let my parents tinker with root and custom roms, odin, and deal with RFS sweat.gif A good all round phone. Have big support with the community. Got cyanogenmod too.
se x10: software will not be up to date (officially). better wait for newer SE smartphone. have beautiful customized interface but users will suffer with lack of update to froyo,

sorry, same post...

I'm just concern over the loudspeaker - loud? Worry a lot of miss call when phone in pocket

My colleague has IPhone 3GS and I'd say it's quite loud...can someone help me confirm whether SGS' loudspeaker volume on Par with IPhone 3GS?

thx!!!!
*
I thought loudspeaker is when during calling, you press loudspeaker button and everyone can hear your conversation. In that case, very loud.

If speaker volume, such as call ringtone. Yes, very loud as well. Cannot miss a call. Unfortunately I don't have iphone 3gs to compare.

Just do it normally. PDA at pda section. Csc at csc at modem at modem.

Set everything up, then connect USB cable. Wait till detected and press start.

fornx, did zumapuma already success flashing the simply 2.4? kinda worry because i want to do the same, (darky > stock > simply 2.4)...huhuhu..dunno wanna use dxjpe or eclair to flash to stock rom as zumapuma stuck at both right?
*
Which stock firmware that you guys use? I personally use JM8 as it is the last reliable eclair firmware leaked by richtofen at xda forum. I have used it many times without problem.

zumapuma seems to have difficulties with firmware downloaded from first page and dxjg4 from samfirmware.com

XXJVE? For which country? GPS performs better? May I know where can I get the modem?

I recorded track from Mytracks app using xxjve modem. Accuracy about the same with zsjpe. Maybe a little bit better. I'm happy with it.

Or if you have speedmod kernel. Can go to recovery mode and choose warmer (more reddish) or neutral colour.
