@fornaxlife
I don't understand? Bootloader? Which one do you mean? Z4Root or Superoneclick?
I'm not really good at Superoneclick. Any working z4root or other simpler root apps?

if you flash the firmware with locked bootloader through odin, you can never flash custom roms anymore.. means you're bound to the official firmwares yawn.gif ... i heard this jpj comes with a locked bootloader.. depending which link you download from

hmm simple root app.. simplest is to flash a custom kernel to it..

superoneclick is easy either actually.. just plug to the superoneclick software with usb debugging on.. then start root @@

Locked bootloaders only exist for Galaxy Tab, no? I haven't seen any SGS firmware with locked bootloader.

z4root has been unmaintained. New ROMs cannot be rooted using z4root, including our official DXJPE.

Well, I downloaded the firmware from Samfirware site.
Only one .tar file. Not sure about bootloader.
I flashed with odin 1.8 with the option of bootloader. But I didn't tick on it. So, not sure what's going on.
I see. Thanks fornaxlife. I didn't know that Flashing custom kernel can root a device. Thank you very much.

Added on March 20, 2011, 3:25 pmWhat is the difference between root and shell root in the Superoneclick option.
I have rooted my phone (sort of) after clicking on root button. Superuser installed, but yet I couldn't use my Titanium Backup pro. Shit....!

Added on March 20, 2011, 3:30 pmSorry to trouble......after restarting the phone. It's working already.

At first use of the latest official ROM, it really looks snappy.
Media scanning is fast, shut down time fast, quite impressive.
I haven't even applied Speedmod Kernel.
But I'm restoring all my apps now. Then compare again.
Basically, I'm flashing back to Original ROM is because I wanna check my GPS problem. On Darky 9.3 before. Can't detect my position. Lbs test only lock on one satellite. Pethetic huh?

Momax 2700mAh battery report - left charger at 9am (100%). Still have 80% left at 3:30pm. Approximate utilization of 20% in 6 hours, or about 3.4% per hour.

Any recommendations on battery monitoring/logging utility that I can use to get more 'scientific' battery usage data?

T-Mobile released a version of the phone called the Samsung Vibrant (SGH-T959) on July 15, 2010,[33] making it the third Android 2.x phone officially supported on the T-Mobile network (after the Nexus One and MyTouch 3G Slide). The SGH-T959 Vibrant supports T-Mobile's 3G UMTS bands of 1700MHz and 2100MHz, but additionally supports 1900MHz, making it compatible with AT&T where the 1900MHz frequency is used (the Vibrant does not support AT&T's other 3G band, 850MHz). This variant also lacks a front-facing camera.

Sorry to say that I don't like it. Too bulky. One of the reason I bought SGS is its dimension. Slimmmmm... tongue.gif

No need to say sorry to me. Some people prefer form over function while others the reverse.

Bootloader still intact whenever you still see something. When bootloader is screwed, there won't be anything on screen.

Dunno, buddy. Maybe someone else can answer your questions - I have never really paid much attention to the US variants of the Galaxy S since I use the international version.

hmm, quite a number of people has their phone soft-bricked when fixing 3b combo using odin and heimdall.

Usb jig should get you download mode. Once you get it, flash any stock rom.

Alternative to usb jig is to use hairdryer method, just be careful because you do not want to heat up the whole phone.
