QUOTE(fuadsyazwan @ Feb 28 2011, 08:38 PM) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=845783You may try the megaupload link as well. As my experience tells, the widget is usable but has given me occasional force close on entire TWLauncher, especially if the data connection disconnected while refreshing. When that happens, do an uninstall and reinstall. |

QUOTE(kmrdeva @ Mar 3 2011, 07:01 AM) I rarely use the phone for web browsing on WIFI because having WIFI around means I am either at the office or at home where I have computers to use, so I'll tell you my experience on 3G/HSDPA. While web browsing, you will literally be able to see the battery meter going down, probably 1% drop every 3-5 minutes if I remember correctly. I don't even have to actively browse, just turn on HSDPA data connection and use sparingly for twitter/foursquare updates and I would lose 30% in 2 hours. The best I ever had is to have 20% remaining after about 8 hours, by leaving it idle most of the time.Am thinking to buy a third-party battery pack now, a 2700mAh batt to replace the original 1500mAh batt. So I resort to use EDGE when I ain't downloading/tethering. That gives me 70% or more remaining power till the end of the day. Excellent battery life. |

Any ordinary 3.5mm headphone jack will work perfectly fine for music. Only if you need the microphone for phone calls, you need the jack which Samsung has used.

QUOTE(Matrix @ Mar 4 2011, 07:45 PM) Guys, just want to ask...does the SGS still have GPS problem or is it fixed in latest updates? Can share ur GPS experience with the SGS? The GPS issue has never been explicitly addressed by Samsung. Samsung never admitted any problem with GPS for our international GT-i9000 anyway.GPS is temperamental, it usually works but at times, it just didn't work ideally. When it doesn't work ideally, the accuracy is fairly poor, causing navigation system to drift to nearby roads. An app called "GPS aids" which should assist the GPS getting location fix, does help my device a lot. I don't have to wait at roadside for GPS fix anymore. |

No need to ask for friend's username; automatically detected by phone number. Within my friends, most of them have Whatsapp. |

I'm afraid to tell you that if the bootloader flash failed, you won't be able to use JIG.

QUOTE(dahool00 @ Mar 10 2011, 08:28 AM) Thanks all for replying my questions on speaker/loudspeaker. 1. You could just totally not set any APN (or destroy any APN set for you). On Froyo, you can disable data connection. The apps and system will still attempt to connect to internet periodically but would fail. To obtain best experience with smartphones, a data plan is highly recommended. To me, the phone is boring (I don't play games), it's just the online contents and convenience that attracts me.Few more Qs: 1. how do turn off those OTA updates (not WIFI), as I do not want to be charge for data transfer. I want to use it just as a phone - ie. SMS/calls, no need those weather updates...etc. But If I turn on WIFI, it should check for updates like OS updates. 2. if there is a new OS update (eg: 2.3) detected over WIFI and it replaced current 2.2, will it wipe up all mt contacts, settings..etc? 3. SGS - now RM2400?, but SGS SL - RM1600 - huge diff. Thanks! 2. OS does not update over wifi for now. KIES would not wipe your personal data usually. The usual way of setting up an Android phone is to sync contacts and calender to Gmail account. Android phone also allows Microsoft Exchange server connection for corporate accounts. In any chance of contacts and calender being wiped, just setup those accounts and information will be fetched automatically, provided you have internet connection. 3. The difference between them aren't just the display. Both firmwares are not cross-flashable, hence I believe they are quite different hardware internally. |

QUOTE(dahool00 @ Mar 10 2011, 09:26 AM) 1. Sorry guys, too many jargon. Just need to know whether I can go into Mobile Setting and turn off any live update or Data Transfer as I don't intend to get any data plan. Please don't ask me why 1. In short, you can disable. Can u pls show me the steps or screen shots to do this? 2. How do I then update SGS to 2.3 when available? Sync thru internet via cable? Sorry guys...still learning. Thx! Added on March 10, 2011, 9:34 amTo use Samsung Kies, need to provide credit card details??? crazy! 2. Update via KIES. Or unofficially use Samsung factory leaked software: Odin. I believe KIES and Google Market does not need credit card for basic functionality; only when you attempt to purchase apps. |

QUOTE(dahool00 @ Mar 10 2011, 05:37 PM) actually i'm the type who waits for the 2nd and 3rd batches of phone, the first batch are for guinea pigs *sorry* Usually application, including live wallpaper, are distributed in .apk container. You would just have to drop the .apk and run it from the phone. Again, usually we don't drop any .apk into the device directly. We just use Google Market to get anything we want. It's an app which gets app. will wait then... Added on March 10, 2011, 5:41 pmif i have a live wallpaper on my PC, what are the steps to download to my SGS? will it ask for which folder to enter in into SGS? i read some where need to copy the live wallpaper into SD card or the external memory then run from there? actually, i'm quite puzzle on HOW to donwload apps or live wallpaper to SGS. pls advise. thx!!! Anyway, if you're going to get SGS SL, that is GT-i9003, a different model. My sgs keep on pop with Sorry! Message. The message read like this: "Sorry! The process com.google.process.gapps has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again." It only happen when I want to open twitter or any apps from the folder. Im just afraid that my sgs got virus.... Tq all 1. If you're on stock ROM/kernel, clear Cache partition 2. If you're on custom ROM/kernel which has CWM recovery, clear Dalvik cache. Try that before resorting to reflash. QUOTE(fongzai92 @ Mar 10 2011, 06:46 PM) another newbie question from me. is that entering recovery mode have to shut off the phone first ? because i watched 1 of the youtube link, the fella press the 3 buttons without shut down the phone. As an experienced 3 button presser(LOL), I can get into recovery/download mode without shutting off the device. However, it isn't recommended as such procedure skips shutdown procedure, which may result in file corruption. Same goes for those who use app or terminal emulator (su then reboot recovery) to get into recovery mode, it does cause dirty writes, hence not recommended. This post has been edited by mengsuan: Mar 10 2011, 08:24 PM |

Actually how often would we use the front facing camera. Even if Skype has video calling function, I don't have plans to use it.
