know your mobo's bios well before you can start OC
if you're familiar with the bios then you can do OC...

there's two choices on how you can start oc, either in the bios or by using the 3rd party software produced by processor company itself or other company in your windows OS...

that's call memory timing for RAM. The numerical is known as CL, tRCD, tRP, tRAS. If you do not understand what's the function for the matter, here a good guide for you to understand:

http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/26

If you already know what's the meaning behind RAM timing and wish to overclock it, you can read some article via here:

http://www.techenclave.com/guides-and-tuto...guide-2457.html

here's another good article about RAM overclocking:

hope this help smile.gif

if you only need to oc the proc then, just do it... the term is easy like i said before if you didn't familiar with the bios you need to learn it first before you can set any of the function, just to make sure that you know what are you doing if not it getting more worse than ever. Keep reading the manual if you're not familiar with the function ..... biggrin.gif

you cannot do anything about it, AMD lock it.

actually the one you state 2.8ghz above for minimum requirement for the games is based on the old proc.. not a new proc.. actually biggrin.gif

i am using gigabyte x58 extreme, is the limit of bclk is 180? if i go beyond that i will fail, i tried lowering the ram speed to 1200mhz, qpi speed is 7.2 ghz, voltage for vcore and qpi i've increased but still won't go beyond 4ghz, btw ram is corsair dominator ddr3 cl8, and i7 920 co/c1... where did i go wrong?

I got a problem.
Intel E6300
Asus P5B
Cooler Master GX650W
Ati 5670
Corsiar Gaming DDR2-800MHz 2x2GB (dual channel interleaved)

by default, e6300 is 266, and 800MHz (FSB:DRAM 2:3)
Why is it recommended that overclock at 1:1?
When i increase fsb, the dram goes 1000MHz and doesnt boot. (PC-6400 mode)
There`s possible to run in (PC-4300) but I wan the ram run in full potential.
any help/suggestion will be appreciated.
