Intel board no good for oc.Bios no oc option, only can use setfsb to oc.Not too bad, manage to get a E6550 on Intel G33 to 420x7,22hours occt stable.

hey guys, saw tis thing in asus p5n-e sli mobo, there is tis option for nb core voltage and Vcore offset voltage...can someone explain wat is the function for both the nb core voltage and Vcore offset voltage?

also under wat condition should ppl adjust the nb core voltage and Vcore offset voltage value?wat voltage value is the best?

vcore offset voltage aka FSB termination Voltage aka Cpu VTT aka HT-Link...
now do the powah of google..

Hi Guys..

noob here.. he he..
actually i have been following up the OC K8 for quite a while. Never tried to OC but once i OC i got addicted..
I have quite a number of question here, so dont mind if i can bombard the question to get more understanding..

My RIG
AMD X2 5200+ @ 2.6GHz stock with Zalman S8700 heatsink and fan.
Biostar TF7050-M2
2GHz Kingston RAM DDR667 (running pair-1GHz each)
Zotac 8800GT amp! (700/2000) stock cooler.
I finally tried to Oc yesterday and here is what i've got.

I am using the default OC software given by Biostar to OC the buss speed.
Here is what i did before OC the buss speed.
- Lower the HT Lnk to X4
- Reduce the RAM speed to 566MHz
During OC time, the incremental of the Buss speed is 5MHz each time and test Ortho for 15m. If stable then increase 5MHz again.

I didnt change the voltage at first.
Multiplier remain at X13.
My RAM speed was about 297MHz.

However when i hit 230MHz, my PC black out and restart by it self. Then suddenly it jump into blue screen for 1/2sec and restart again. This time, the Bus speed have been automatically change to 215MHz once i boot to window. MY HTT was 920MHz.

Hence i have reduce the buss speed to 225MHz as shown in the picture below.

My question is,
1) since my RAM is DDR667, the actual clock is 333Mhz. During the OC can the memory frequency go beyond 333MHz? I assume 333MHz is the limit and anything go beyond that is consider OC.
2) What if the memory is beyond the 333MHz, will there be a risk that the memory will burn?
3) I notice some people said lowering the CPU multiplier able to push the bus speed further.. Why is that so?
4) What will be my safe margin of the CPU temp when OC. some says 50C, some say 55C and some even said 60C.. confuse.
5) Yesterday my bus speed hit 230MHz, CPU Multiplier is 13, HT link 920MHz, and the Memory speed is about 300MHZ, i tested with Ortho for 6 hours.. stable and no error. But when i tested with the 3Dmark03, the graphic teste was ok.. but when come to the CPU test where the Orgs were playing stone game, the PC black out and reboot.... may i know why? I thought the Ortho already stressing the CPU and should be fine in running other programs...

Please please provide me advise how to clock it further... below is a snap shot of my current setting..
Please comment... thanks...

ok, i confuse about voltage...

Voltage / Effect

1) CPU v = PROC

2) Memory v = RAM

3) HT v = ???

4) NB/SB v = ???
can anyone answer my questions???

thanks  notworthy.gif

HI GUYS.....IM NEW HERE.I HAV 1 QUESTION.RECENTLY I BRING MY CPU TO MY HOME N CONNECTED WITH OLD CRT MONITOR.B4 THIS I USE AT HOSTEL WIT LCD 19".I HAVE DONE OC IT AT HOSTEL.BUT WHEN I USE FOR THAT CRT MONITOR,PC DETECTED FOR NEW RESOLUTION.THEN WHEN I RUN 3DMARK,AQUAMARK N TRY TO PLAY CRYSIS,MY PC HANG FOR A WHILE.WHY?HELP ME PLEASE....

mobo ga-p35-ds3 / dual core e2140 / value ddr2 667 kingston

my setting in bios
-fsb 350mhz oc at 75% my proc at 2800MHz - default voltage 1.1
-dram freq 420 at ddr2 840MHz @ 5-5-5-11 - default voltage 1.8
-pcie freq set to manual 100mhz
-idle temp 30'c (at room temp 23-24'c) / 36'c (at room temp 26'c)
-full loaf temp 48'c (at room temp 23-24'c) / 55'c (at room temp 26'c)

is that my setting OK, my RAM timing/freq..my fsb..

Just getting into the habit of OC, i really no nothing, i tried reading a few articles but i am confused.

Hexus Guide To OC Core 2 Cuo

So the last thing i read was the above one. So it says here i should sync my RAM first before doing any adjustment to FSB and such. Which part should i try and OC first?

well, firstly the right hardware to OC, then learn about the fundamentals of your hardware before playing with it. Then once u learn, u will understand any OC guide easily

I think i roughly got the right hardware, and i am right now just exploring the computer and bios. I've read several guide, about CPU and RAM and timings and dividers and stuff. And i guess i understand what is going on to a certain extent. What i want to know now is

1) If i am on divider, do i have to sync the RAM frequency to the FSB?

2)If i do change the ratio to 1:1, what will happen? Will the RAM follow the FSB or the FSB follow the RAM?

3)If i do overclock either one, will the counterpart follow suit? Meaning if i overclock the FSB by 50MMhz, will the RAM speed also increase by 50Mhz on 1:1 ratio?

4)What should i actually start of first? Increase the FSB with dividers or sync it first?

1) The RAMs will only run in synchronous mode if it is at 1:1

2) The ram & CPU frequency usually follow the FSB speed

3) No, it depends on your ram multiplier/divider/ratio

4) Up to you, depending on the limits of your OC of each component

You can read my new guide on "Understanding your computer" to better understand the relation of FSB to RAMs and CPU. It is still not yet finished as I have no time currently..... maybe have to wait until my rig is down again.... laugh.gif

Hi,what is your hardware?
It is more easy for sifus here to guide you by stating your hardware.

First of all,u should start experimenting rather than reading more and more guide.
That will make u become more confious.

Try and u will understand OC more.
To avoid confusion, print the guide by Kmarc and follow step by step. laugh.gif

is it true that a cpu with lower multiplier and higher fsb is faster than a cpu with higher multiplier and lower fsb?

eg: a cpu with 300mhz fsb and 10x multiplier is faster than a cpu with 200mhz fsb and 15x multiplier?

generally hmm. thats a very good question. In theory, a higher fsb is better than a lower fsb, but in real time use, it doesnt make a difference, maybe in benchmarks yes. Expert opinions welcomed here.

rclxms.gif Hello guyz , mind if I come to ask wisdom from you all?

As in my siggy my spects of my new pc is

E8400
8800GT
P5N-T Deluxe
2x2gb Xms2 6400
320 W.D Hdd
ST56F

OS : Vista Ultimate

Current progress

Crysis : 25-40 fps average at 1680x1050 with some high and medium settings
Unreal Tournament : 30-35 fps with everything maxed out
World In Conflict : 30-40 fps with high settings

3D Mark 06 benchmark scores = 11205

Temperature

Graphic Card i)Idle = 50-53c ii)Game = 70-75c
Cores ii)Idle = 45-50c ii)Game = 65-68c

Alright guyz.... what simple OC that I can use utilize to improve my pc performances?
