QUOTE(ayecaramba @ Mar 21 2011, 10:36 PM) Sorry to interrupt. Is the polo's dsg known for problems? Can the gearbox last? :S Nothing a 5 year warranty cannot fix...the polo is really fun... Touched 140kmh without even knowing it..do not want to trash my car yet as it is still less than 1k kilometers.

QUOTE(futobuta @ Mar 21 2011, 09:59 PM) Don't know. No time to go ask because it happened this evening. The plastic of the bumper feels so coarse now. Trust me, the respray guy can do it well and fix it. Only cannot if the bumper is cracked. Otherwise I would recommend you get the Golf R bumper with the DRL's!

QUOTE(Mavik @ Mar 21 2011, 09:09 PM) Yeah got them installed earlier today Wow I have been eyeing on it since I got my car. You got PM. QUOTE(futobuta @ Mar 21 2011, 09:41 PM) Today is a sad day. I just scrapped my virgin GTi on a wall when I was squeezing through a tight angle. When I heard the sound of it hitting against the wall, my heart sank. Now my front left side of my bumper... got scar liao. Luckily my fog lamp was spared. Can't stop blaming myself for being so clumsy n for the poor judgement. How much is it to replace the front bumper ah? Sorry to hear about the unlucky incident. Definitely going back to VW will costs you a bomb. Repair workshops/"tung tung shop" should help you with it. Which one you planning to go? This post has been edited by mikelee: Mar 21 2011, 11:24 PM

Think I might just finish off my work early and bring her to the workshop for their suggestion and quotation. Hopefully they can settle it within a day. I'm just worried that they might not have the right shade of gray.

I'm just worried that they might not have the right shade of gray. It depends on the workshop you go to, the ones here in KL that I go to don't use the old conventional way of checking the colour and finding the right colour from the manufacturer. They use computers now to scan your car current colour and the computer will mix the matching paint. This is the new technology already bro. Its one of the ways they use to respray cars whose paint are faded so at least it matches it as close as possible. Did that with my Candy white. You can't even see any difference at all.

@futobuta: Scratches only; no issue... nothing the fiber folks can't fix. They will typically sand the bumper down, apply putty to smooth-en it out (if required), then respray the bumper. Your GTI is still new, so chances are, there won't be much deviation in terms of colour Btw - have you tried to rub it yourself with some rubbing compound? If the scratches aren't deep, then you can usually 'fix' it yourself. As for respray length, if you were to go back to VW, I'm guessing its going to be a 3-5 day wait... workshops outside will be about 1-2 days (I've unfortunately had quite a bit of experience on this topic in the past few months!). If you still tak shock after the spraying, like a needle in your heart kind of thing, the golf R front bumper with drl is definitely a looker. =)
