I believe my suggestion was quite polite, and I'm glad you're not offended, because it would be foolish for a person of high standards to be affected by a simple statement, hence you gain my respect there smile.gif

In regards to your nurse story, it's very simple. There's no nurses here, not a hospital or clinical scenario, it's a forum where all kinds of people medically inclined and non-medically inclined come to read. So the fact is, the situation here is a PUBLIC forum smile.gif Hence I believe it would be to the advantage of everyone if medically related people spead words which we can comprehend.

To be honest, there's so many jargons in the posts above that it is almost impossible to search the meaning of each and every word!

Simple conclusion, speak simple, to be heard and understood by everyone. Impressing with jargons shows lack of attention and experience. Dont take it to heart, it's just my 2 cents worth as well smile.gif
*
okay there's one nurse right here now smile.gif))
fireball u're right.. but the govt hospital where i work at, most of the patients really educated, sometimes they used jargons that i myself unaware of who has been 7 yrs in nursing hehe..not that i don't agree with you. but nowadays people have been smarter that they were back then. more lawsuits that even govt can't win. but ur post was dated 2008! hehehe

all right all right.. back to the topic. PAP Smear..
i think everything has been covered by sandboxz and the rest of you.
Just wanna share a guideline that I always refer to
from MOH.gov.my http://moh.gov.my/attachments/3969
www.cancer.org.my http://www.kaconsulting.com.my/cancer.org....hp?mgr=doc&id=8
this one also nice http://www.pocc.com.my/#/home/ and http://www.kaconsulting.com.my/cancer.org....c=services&pg=2

anyway, ive seen 5 person that i personally know, and they died young just because of undetected cervical cancer. it was then too late.
Too lazy to get pap smear, then Too late to see their children grew up and marry also.
By the way, I knew 3 person personally that got this cervical cancer even though they're virgins and not married. There was a saying during my nursing college, " Good Girls Gets all the Bad Things" . Why? I'm not sure, maybe because of genetic ? there are a lot of risk factors.

there were a private discussion between the doctors and nurses back then, where we discussed does oral sex helps to spread HPV (Human Papilloma Virus) from a guy and causes Warts to EarNnoseThroat cancer, or by sexual intercourse (to cause CA cervix) to the poor girl because HPV can lead to cancerous and precancerous changes in the cervix, it is important that this condition be diagnosed and treated. Regular pap smears are necessary to detect HPV or other abnormal changes related to this virus. Having both HPV and herpes virus together puts you at particular risk for cervical cancer.

anyway, my advise would be please wear protection during intercourse if your spouse is not screened yet. The best way when u're going to marry someone that you really love, please screen yourself and your spouse firsthand. Direct skin contact can transmit HPV viruses and increases the risk of getting cervical CA. Protect yourselves and your loved ones..

my point is, Please do not worry about the PAP Smear procedure. It will only cause a temporary discomfort. Imagine if u don't go for PAP Smear early, when u're diagnosed Cervical CA it will be too late..hard to cure..the worst part is you'll never see your loved ones again, never see your chilren grow up..because Don't play-play ah Cervical CA can be Life Threatening!

just an individual opinion. please correct me if im wrong. do ask me if i used any jargons that u doesn't understand.. smile.gif

Yeap. Pap smear, somehow felt comfortable for some women. but just only last a couple of min.

Pre-cancerous at least you can do something better than u detect it later.

Btw, low immune system normally the rate of getting HPV is higher.

After going through a lot of VEs during pregnancy and a SNS (stretch and sweep) during delivery, doing pap smear is prolly the least uncomfortable thing in my books biggrin.gif

I'll get more info from KK regarding procedures and will post it here after I'm done with my confinement.

http://tmcpenang.com/www/index.php?option=...id=56&Itemid=78

RM198 including

* Consultation by O&G (report provided)
* Pap Smear
* Examination by Specialist Consultant for Breast, Abdomen and Pelvic

Just wonder if its worth it to pay a lil extra for the 3rd service.

It's very sad to realized, we women actually have higher chance of getting cancer compared to guys sad.gif one of my fren's sister actually died at the age of 15 due to cervical cancer, in which it confuses me. I thought cervical cancer only happen to older women especially those sexually active women are in the highest risk category, my fren's sister is a virgin and at this young age, i don't think anybody will think of going for a pap smear test, does that mean next time if i have a daughter i have to bring her for pap smear test at the age of 10? hmm....
