I'm curious whether there are any risks of unnecessary infection through pap smear?

There are always tons of patients walking in and out from the doctor's office.

Are the sterilisations effective?

Nowadays each stick that they use to take the samples are in a sterilised packaging from factory one. Practically the doctor only open the kit set when patient request to do the test.

you will need to go collect the results by yourself, or you may call them up.

Some clinics will call you up (the contact number that you've provided to them) for results collection.

Go to see a gynae. Any gynae will be able to check on you. Recommendations? Get one that you are comfortable with. We don't know your location as well so it's hard to recommend.

Any hospital will have one or few gynae available, or just go to those klinik wanita. How old are you? You can easily search on the internet when is it recommended to get a pap smear done, i.e. after you become sexually active (had sex) or when you reach 21 year old whichever comes first.

Anyhow, pap smear test will not solve your period problem. Doesn't mean you have period problem means you must go for pap smear. Pap smear is more to check for abnormalities on your cervix and for cervical cancer.

Hi,

Did anyone try out Thin Prep Pap smear? Heard that it's more accurate than traditional Pap smear. Thru my limited resources, I googled and found out only KPJ Damansara has this screening. Any other places offer this screening as well?

Any gynae or lab (BP, etc.) can do it for you.
Private hospitals may charge a higher price.

You should be having annual (or once in 2 years) pap smears once you start having sex.

It is so important for girls to get their pap smear test as soon as they start having intercourse. You never know, and better to be on the safe side. A good gyno that I've gone to is a women's center in Bangsar. I would highly recommend it you seek gyno services. I have gone and other friends of mine as well, the doctor, she makes you feel very comfortable and friendly service.
