No chance, as my house over 20 years old. I stay in Subang Jaya; what is the nearest tile shops ?
*
Maybe you want to use different pattern on additional 2 rows. It can be nice. Otherwise, replace the whole tiles.

Just Google "construction material subang jaya". Many to choose from. Most likely you can ask them for contractors contact. Usually contractors leave their contact numbers to shops just in case costumers looking for services.

anyone here use Epoxy for grouting? White Cement seems to be prone to cracks but Epoxy are very expensive. can't imagine how much it cost for 10kg epoxy.
*
Instead of powder cement-like grouting, use the silicone type. They are meant for grouting. Sold in tube and can be applied straight to the tile. Squeeze along the line between tiles. It will not grow mold and waterproof. Common nowadays in hardware store I believe.

but silicone type are flexible and looks shiny/rubbery like those used in kitchen cabinets right?

the normal cement don't look well on light colored tiles, especially some existing using white grout.
*
My bad. I was imaging wall tiles in bathroom. I hate those mold that need to be scrub from time to time laugh.gif

Epoxy grout material more expensive because it is meant for stronger grout as you said.

This is what I found:

http://www.allaboutwaterproof.com/Sikadur%...20Epoxy%20Grout

You can contact store that sell Kerapoxy P from this website. Click Where to Buy Our Product. I don't have the current price but was about RM430/10kg about 2 years ago blink.gif

but it's also grey color.

i notice Sika cement that has waterproof is super expensive. their tile cement that is Part A & B waterproof cost rm80 per bag. yes i ask shop keeper rm18? 80.

but epoxy is expensive lo. and not many shop sell.

for waterproof i just use the Davidco Part A + B. around rm37 per 4L. but for white cement was told Davidco 6kg one less likely turn yellow.
*
You asked about epoxy type. So, this Sika is epoxy type and not just about waterproofing.

If you want white color or any color, then contact the other link.

One more thing. The problem with white or light color epoxy resin is that they can easily gets yellowish. This is common on any epoxy based grout. On the other hand, the colored epoxy grout may stain certain type of tile. So, need trial I guess smile.gif

hmm i though the perks of epoxy is that it doesn't turn yellowish easily like white cement?

that epoxy is waterproof so i'm saying waterproof combo cement cost alot more. Sika Tile cement 88 cost rm13 per bag. Sika Tile Cement Water Proof Part B cost rm80 per bag.

if you buy a Sika 88 & a Davidco Waterproofing cement Part A + B (rm37 per liter), it's cheaper as you just need a thin wet layer of waterproof cement then use normal tile cement.

i saw some tile shops got tons of color choices for their grout not sure what material, got a piece of sample with many colors like paint catalog. but i never seen people or shop use it though.
*
Color grout is for those who want to match the grout color with the tile color. Color can be normal cement type or can be epoxy type as well

Just buy tile grout from DIY shop and apply it yourself. Easy to find. Very easy. No special skill required. You can youtube on how to apply grout.

floor tile  i will recommend  guocera u1729ag(500 mm x 500 mm), gloss white ,rm1.98 per sqft (rm5.51 per pcs inclusive of GSt)

http://www.guocera.com.my/product/alto-dol...238#variant=440
typical 2 ft x 2ft tiles from china is 600 mm x 600 mm,it has to be done by wet laying, normally ppl only do dry laying for you if dry laying it will pop up very soon

this guocera has no such problem as compared to 2feet x 2feet from china ,and guocera is much cheaper
this is the experience from my dad who have over 50 yr of laying tiles

p/s :will show you soonafter my house done in 2 week

Nowadays, there are tiles that needs no soaking. It is also depends on what type of mortar you use for tiling. Normal cement on cheap tiles most likely need soaking to ensure proper adhesion of tiles to its base. However, there are now mortar designed specifically for tiles which require no soaking. This was not available 50 years ago smile.gif

The problem with big size tile from China is the flatness. You will find that many are not flat thus making the surface uneven. Local tiles are way better in this regard.

This is a good advise from A to Z on re-grouting.

The tool you showed is nor really the tool for the job but I'd say if you have steady hand and the gap between tiles are 1/4", it should still be okay. The guy in the video is using what is called multi-tool (what Bosch and several others called) or oscillating tool. China made is cheap and other known brand probably around same price as Bosch, around RM500+. The blade is exchangeable to cutting wood, metal and many other thing. Using this you can ensure the blade is perpendicular to tiles surface.

For me, 40k for labor only is way expensive. It is probably a week job to complete. Removing old tiles is easy with power tool. With new mortar, no need to remove much of the tiles base.

Are you sure it is just the labor only?

Sticky floor needs no polishing, it is because it is not clean. Need to mop with proper detergent and rinse and rinse and rinse the mop

Unlike last time, the tiling uses adhesive like mortar. It does not need thick layer to give proper hold to tiles.

What is the purpose you want to tile in the first place? for the look?

If can google youtube. It is easy. You can just buy ready mix tile adhesive in most DIT shop. The main problem is whether you can find the same tile or not. Normally after few years, the tile pattern would become obsolete unless white tiles biggrin.gif Even if the same tiles, color could be different slightly.

Nothing major, I suspect? Placed my hands on the tiles, does not seem to be wet - this should rule out plumbing issues

QUOTE(slimey @ Aug 3 2018, 08:15 PM)
if plumbing issue you will see water coming out of the grout or the other side of the wall have paint peeling or "bubbling" of the paint.
*
My house came with 5' tiles and I wanted to add 3 more rows above in bathroom. The contractor chipped the wall a bit only and barely called it holes and the chips were quite far apart, even more than a tile size away at random. They did not even bother about the paint. However, now it is already 10 years and the tiles are all still intact.

I guess it is because now the tile are no more attached with cement but special mortar with adhesive. A section of floor tiling was also layered with another tile to create tile high elevation so that the water will not flow to dry section (name I called). the floor tile was just attached to the top of existing tile and they are still fine after 10 years

So, I guess your contractor was not doing good job or using wrong material or did not know about new material.

Hi guys,

Want a recommendation. I plan to make a sink table top for my bathroom, something along these lines:

https://www.pinterest.com/solidsurfacebat/m...-counter-sinks/

1st contractor quoted me for RM1500 just to do the table top, which made me think of doing it DIY.

Where can I get these table top , and what type of material is suitable? I'm thinking like granite/quartz, like kitchen table top, roughly about 3.5ft x 2ft. or so.

Or you guys have any contractor/supplier that can do this for me? Thanks
*
wow... RM1500 is expensive for me shocking.gif . I do not have any contact. BTW, you should state your location for others to help. If not they will recommend Thailand contractor laugh.gif

Also, would it be troublesome to add a drain line for sink underneath the current bathroom tiles. I'm guessing need to hack a row of tiles from sink towards the drain.

Cheaper option is to just run the pipes on the floor through the corners of the bathroom, until the drain.

Couldn't really believe adding a sink + 1 row of hacking is almost RM2000.  blink.gif  blink.gif
*
It will be along the wall. For the people who do this kind of job, it is not difficult. 6~8 hour job with break maybe? Run drainage on the bathroom floor? It is DIY job. Would be ugly. I can do within 1 hour laugh.gif

Yes. RM2k is expensive. With power tool, it is easily done. How many plumber have yo asked?

Hey everyone, I hired a contractor to do minor renovation for my new home. I wanted a concrete table top with homogeneous tiles
for my kitchen. I told my contractor to skim the tile edges to make it into radius (fillet type). Below is the picture of tiles after
edge got skimmed. As you can see the there is major color difference between the original surface and skimmed surface. Skimmed surface looking rough faded. Anyone know why? It supposed to be a homogeneous tile. Please advice.

It is just because the tiles are ground to shape with coarse disc. The tile need to be polished to bring the shine. It is the same like marble too
