I wont say cheap. Theres enuf product diversity to cater to those looking for quality tiles at reasonable prices. for those with deeper pockets looking for higher end/unusual/Euro products, Feruni also caters to them. No nego, prices are fixed.
At end of day, you get what you pay more.
Awww... too bad, I was eager to check it out until I saw this. My budget is tight.
Currently contemplating on resurfacing some 700sq ft of floor space. Right now, tiling looks more attractive to me as an option to laminated wood (idiot proof, can hack the floor to reroute wiring & install conduit for subwoofer & AV rear speake cables).
I'm looking for 2x2 tiles for under RM17/pc. Anyplace to recommend...?
Also, I was told by the Super Ceramic guys in Puchong to specifically instruct my contractor not to use regular cement for tiling jobs because regular cement will lose adhesion after several years and cause the tile to lift away from the cement. This is why some tiles produce a hollow sound after a while. He said, especially in the case of tiled kitchen counter tops and porcelain tiles, a latex + tiling cement (special tile adhesive) mix must be used.
I dunno, but I can totally relate to what he said about the hollow sound that some tiles make - one of the 2x2 tiles on my current kitchen counter made that sound just before it cracked. Now I understand it's due to poor adhesion of the tile to the cement. When it no longer sticks to the cement, the gap between the tile and the cement is what makes that hollow sound. Then as more of the tile comes off the cement, if you keep stepping on it, eventually the tile will crack because of that gap.
What do you guys think? Latex + tile adhesive - is this sound advice?
