QUOTE(matyrze @ Mar 9 2011, 08:07 PM)
You just have to relax dude. I don't mean to belittle Arsenal. Honestly I don't.

But the fact is the match stat read something like this:

user posted image

Which very very clearly showed clear domination by Barca, even unbelievable for ourselves. As I mentioned, even Nelson Valdes and his Hercules did a lot lot lot more better than Arsenal.

And when you come here suggesting that our first goal was just purely the result of Cesc mistake, I think we have the right to be pissed off. Why don't you think its the result of our brilliant way of pressuring opponents right in their own half? If we fail to score from Cesc mistake, what make you so sure we couldn't score another goal, like the second we scored?

This involve a lot of 'what if', an argument filled with speculation and theories. The argument that you guys might fell apart even if you were playing 11 players, like how we score the first goal, may be applicable too. Its just that you guys decided to turn blind on this argument, because it suits you guys lesser.

So this argument about referee is pointless, because it involves something might or might not have happened. The fact is, Arsenal played poor, and Barca deserve to go through.
BOTH argued, so BOTH deserve a yellow.

And more "might be" argument eh.

Added on March 9, 2011, 8:14 pmOh, and please note that I've NEVER brought out Ref's mistake against us over these two legs, because I honestly feel discussing on Refs' performance is pointless. I really do.
*
the 'what if' and 'might be' argument came up because during the first leg we're able to win.we know how to win against barca and we know we can do it again.but it didn't happened.

both argued, both deserve a yellow.i agree.you wanna say we turn blind on the fact that we played poor, why you turn blind on the fact that abidal choked RVP?

i will stop my argument here since one of my respected senior in AST already asked us to stop talking about the game.all the best for your future games.

Don't target anybody la bro. myhotgary just stated his opinion when he said Masch played bad. He was not saying Masch was a bad player for Barca. IMHO Masch did look clueless in numerous matches before. Yes he could get his trademark tackles in, but in Barca people people expect other other quality from DM too. Its good that Masch finally seems to be getting better game by game. It should not be a reason to target the critics back.
*
QUOTE(barca96 @ Mar 9 2011, 04:41 PM)
no la. he knows that im joking.
*
Dang barca96 must be thinking about me again during the match. But seriously that was a very thrilling match with its ups and downs (eg own goal) but at the end of the day, we scraped thru with oni 1 goal agg.
And bro matyrze made my point, but yeah i know you're joking. And i can only be happy as masch integrates into the team. He had a good match last night, full stop.
One thing that tells, besides the quality of the individual, is the ability of pep to train players to play football the barca way.
I read somewhere back where people said pep man management is lacking, but i say no.
What happens at barca is always team spirit and humility. If u dun have that (ibra/etoo) or if u dun put in enough effort (chygry), then there will hardly be a place in the team for u. No player is bigger than the team.

QUOTE(matyrze @ Mar 9 2011, 06:55 PM)
I iz sad, because of so much emphasize is on the ref, when Arsenal have only themselves to blame for their defeat.

"Arsenal failed to muster a single shot at Camp Nou as they were eliminated 4-3 on aggregate, the first time a team has failed to do so since Opta's Champions League records began in 2003."

sos from soccernet.

They cry for van Persie's sending off, when in fact he was utterly useless when he was on. They said his sending off changed the game, so why oh why he didn't changed the game in Arsenal's favour when he was ON THE FIELD? He had 56th minute to do that. Zero shot on goal, against a heavily rotated back line, what a way to show your presence on the field as forward.

Maybe they should learn from Hercules on how to counter attack us in Camp Nou, and take Nelson Valdes as their main cikgu. But nvm, I don't think Arsenal need tips from a poor club from an inferior league compared to theirs. rolleyes.gif
*
It bears remembering though, that the high pressing of Barcelona means that they can tire out a bit after the 70th minute. That's when Arsenal got their goals at the Grove.

Van Persie was below par with holding up the ball, but that's not just his fault, but Arsenal relying on too many direct passes in tight situations.

But this does not preclude anything.

It is vital to remember that winning with less shots on goals is a common occurrance.

But yes, Arsenal must take it on the chin. Tactically a bit off.

As for taking tips from Hercules, not that we don't need tips, but if you watch Arsenal enough you'd know that van Persie is good at holding the ball up and building play with diagonals to running wingers or short passes forward to advancing midfielders. Judging from one game would result from an entirely flawed conclusion.

Opinion: Mascherano might be remembered from his sacrificial dash back to tackle Bendtner (who gifted him with a heavy, heavy first touch), but his passing throughout was very helpful to Arsenal.

Stereotyping a set of fans does not reflect well on your moral fibre either.

Stop this "BPL fan" bullshit. In fact, I'd like to shoot the next person who calls it the BPL.

Well, he made his personal opinions known, that's not trolling. You can just as well disagree by arguing what made the game good for you. Your first reply however, was a personal attack.

The bolded line is bullshit. It does matter how you lose.

Don't have time for "fans" who only look at scorelines. Some people actually watch the football, you know.

Discussing the match does not mean not accepting the results.

I believe forums are for discussions and airing of personal opinions, which we are doing here. If you disagree with any of the opinions of the general run-of-play then that may consequently be written. Nothing wrong with discussing it here if it is in reply to posts here. Barcelona was in the match too, you know.

I reply on here because I disagree with some people's view of Barca's position in the game, which in my opinion would not necessarily have stood until the end of the game where Arsenal's stamina from less vigourous pressing may have helped, as well as the introduction of perhaps less experienced subs.

If you feel more comments are not needed then ignore them according to your needs.

What im trying to say is stop blaming the ref already.
If u want to discus ok, but blaming the ref is other thing.
Ref is also human, they do make mistake.
It just not ur lucky day.
I really respect arsenal, just some "fans" that think they are smarter. Not only arsenal fan, but barca fans also.
No offense.

Some interesting facts;

-Valdes (11) completed yesterday more passes than Nasri (8), Van Persie (7) and Arshavin (5)

-Most completed passes >
Barcelona: Xavi 108 - Iniesta 100 - Alves 84
Arsenal: Wilshere 25 - Clichy 24 - Koscielny 22
