QUOTE(lpyycy @ Feb 19 2011, 08:36 AM)
dear all, do u ever experience problem of autofocus when you half press your shutter button? it is lik u are in the focus range, but when u autofocus, the motor in the camera just do not run and not hunting for focus. is this common or this is a serious problem? i am using D7000 btw.

Also, found sometimes the camera abit slow when react to set. let say, i am switching from other mode to A, then when i turn the aperture setting ring, the camera wont react, until after i moving to another mode again, try to autofocus with some thg, or take a snap, then only the camera react to the aperture setting ring..

any one of u all meet this problem before?
*
Did you focus too close to your subject, every lens has its minimum focus range, too close it couldn't lock the focus. And sometimes focusing things that lack contrast like white wall, it'll struggle to focus too.

You can read your mode on your top LCD panel, if it shows A then you can start to adjust your settings. Shouldn't be too long for the camera to react to it, think 1 second will do.

If it's that slow that you have to autofocus something then only you can change the settings then there might be some problem to your D7000.

really only hsm compatible? cause may plan to upgrade to D7000 or D700 later... and will spend alot of $$$ icon_question.gif if i went to Macro version is much more cheaper than i can invest on D700 rather than D7000..

Yes, the old Macro DG version has no built-in motor so you can only manual focus it on your D5000.

Why not just upgrade it now when you get the new lens.

If going for the HSM and the D700 is too much for you then you should call poor man's evil friend-Ah long. laugh.gif

Or else, work hard, spend sparingly and save up for the better upgrades. thumbup.gif smile.gif

Don't use UV filter also can, make sure you use lens hood as protection. U also can consider Hoya HD UV, good quality.

All of the above laugh.gif
except blower should come with the cleaning kit.

You need to clean your lens or may be sensor so a cleaning kit should comes in handy

Extra memory card in case your primary one failed(if you shoot video class 10, if not class 4 is more than enough, if you do not want to transfer your pic every day then get the 32gb, get Sandisk, it'll never fail you)

Camera bag should come with your purchase unless you think you really don't like it then you can buy another one

There's class 4, class 6(discontinued) and class 10, all different by the reading and writing speed. If you need to shoot video get the class 10, if not class 4 is sufficient.
If you like to transfer you pic out everyday, then a 8gb card is enough to take 400+ pic, if not then get the 32gb.

Filter, not necessary, you can always use the hood for lens protection. But in crowded area you never know what will happen and your lens might knock on something that scratches it. So let a 100 bucks filter got scratch is better than your 800-1k lens got scratch.

It's to clean away stubborn dust and dirt.
That's why buy a good one that is for your lens, those that the shops give FOC all ''made in china'' that cost rm3-5 i only use it to clean filter.
And you need two micro fibre cloth, one for wet one for dry.
