That's really bad for a DLSR that expensive. Guess canon isn't delighting you always..

For that, there's always Nikon..

Edward said it well..its vice versa. What Canon can offer NIKON can't, its goes the other way around.

Guys, just a question. In the end, what the biggest difference that Nikon and Canon distinguish?

I believe Nikon plays with contrast, but canon more pure and original. is that true?

Look at Vanguard Uprise 46 or 48 & Vanguard Skyborne 48 - Highly padded & reallllly comfortable at the back. There are some review videos in youtube too..

The 5Dmk2's infamous focus issue ma. Heck even the 1dmk3 has this issue too, situation improved in the 1dmk4.

This is why the D3/D700 from Nikon manage to capture some of the FF share from Canon. Before this Canon dominating FF segment ma.

And some very little issue on it doesn't make people won't buy it also. I've seen lots of nice images from the so-called-flawed 5d2. Well said bro celciuz.

It has something to do with the AF system, it not fast and accuracy is just so so where else the D3/D700 etc from Nikon excels. That is why more and more jumping ship, in an event the moment won't wait for your focus :-).

But of course, the 5dmk2 is excellent for studios, portrait, landscape etc as you've ample of time to ensure a spot on focus. Not to mention with sufficient lighting (studio) and also high megapixels!

Third party is much cheaper than NEW 80-200 two touch; but price close to 2nd hand two touch.

Personally I would opt for two touch; Compare third party, Sigma is soft wide open, especially at 200mm. Third party lens might have built-in motor and newer technology.

what is OS? Operating System? unsure.gif

35mm f/1.8G, able to autofocus.

Else 50mm f/1.4D, cheap but unable to autofocus on D5000.

Correct, best to get the 35mm f/1.8D instead of the 50mm f/1.8D if you're using D5000. Sometimes its fun to use manual focusing to shoot, but don't know if your patience can handle it or not tongue.gif.

Don't expect miracle bro. Can get 1080i video, 21MP, quite decent ISO performance, and about same price as D700, you expecting it's focusing performance to be on par with D700 also? Like that who will buy D700?

Plays fair dude. It's reasonable  sleep.gif
*
I don't expect the 5DmkII to be on par at all with D700/D3 auto focus system. If I'm not mistaken it has the exact focusing system as the old 5D.

I guess like kenrockwell said, it's more suited to landscape photography. I love taking landscape photos too but I also do events & weddings & minor sport shoots for golfs. Yup there are numerous wedding photographers (which are my friends) using the 5DmkII & they are fine with it or so they tell me... I guess I'm so used with Nikon's superb AF that I cannot fathom the 5DmkII's AF system sweat.gif .. Once you go DARKSIDE, you'll never go back.

p.s. I tested the 7D. I have to salute canon on the 7D AF system. It is much more superior to it's FF brother the 5DmkII.

But build quality and durability wise.. D700 wins hands down

I'm not going to Antartica but it's good to know: thumbup.gif

Look at the "Nikon" & "Canon" part. There's no strength in numbers... cool2.gif

Yup2.. The infamous 1Dmk3's problematic AF system... It's a hardware problem. That's bad for a flagship product.

A quote from a an admin of a forum:

"The focus issue is real. Canon's actions clearly establish this as fact.
Debating this reality is only a source of controversy, and needless at this point in time.

1. There was and is a problem with the MkIII. This is not longer a debate, it is fact.
2. Most of the released units to date may be effected.
3. Canon will be implementing a process to repair the MkIII"

Hit rate isn't impressive too you know, if you've friends using 85L, 50L or 24L ask for their feedback. My friend honestly told me, at low light, some hits and some miss. Imagine shooting event, you get a lock but do you know if the lock is good or no good? That's why my friends using 5dmk2 for events usually take a spare shot just to be sure.

Spot on bro! thumbup.gif

I've went on a job assignment and met with some media pros including Bernama, Astro Awani & several other media photo/videographers. Talked to one reporter from Astro Awani, and I talked about the D3s and he said most of the guys there that have their D3s just changed system from canon to nikon because their companies changed brand & there's a lot of media companies that are doing that. He said it's a bit of pain for em because most of them are used to canon and now they have to get used to using nikon. I asked why the media companies changed system... he was reluctant to say & just changed the topic after that (probably because he is a canon user himself) blink.gif A good example of NEED vs WANT.

Really? Once u go darkside you'll never go back? I own both the 5d2 and the d700 la bro. I still prefer canon whistling.gif

For me the d700 is more of an allrounder. And the 5d2 for landscapes, macro works, and portraits. Well I'm not a pro like goldfries or ktcy, that's just me.
