Sounds very impressive, for me web browsing to international sites and downloads are painfully slow. Speedtest from testmy.net takes about 15 minutes to complete. Without VPN speedtest to UK 32Kbps, with VPN 1Mbps +. I guess I should make a complaint, is this the correct telephone number 1 300 88 1221 to do so or is it better to e-mail them.
If you're calling the number, be reminded that it charges you erm... 4 cents per mins or what. That number is not toll-free. But 4 cents per min... Talk 10mins also 40cents. Not a big deal though. I never tried to email them to complain. Always called.

I just discover very weird thing with my Macbook wi-fi when trying to handshake with Unifi .At first, i thought it is the Unifi Modem Signal which is weak downstairs. My modem is upstairs where my living hall is and the distance should be about a floor heights of about 10meter or 15 meter the most.
I took my laptop to upstairs and the laptop wifi can handshake with the device again, took it down again and the connection is lost and the wifi signal is not weak thus the indication just go "gray" undetected . I try using my Iphone to handshake with the Unifi and it works. There's no problem watching Apple trailer in my Iphone but my macbook cant at all. My macbook can watch Apple Trailer upstairs without any problem.
Is it my macbook or the modem?
Should be the router. My router is right behind the wall of my room while I use inside the room. I'm using dell studio 15 with win7. Sometimes the exclamation mark showed up, which means no internet access. I need to disconnect and reconnect. Signal wise, it fluctuate from full, 6 bars to 3 bars... Problematic router that is...
Well you if have money then you can just buy the the splicer... or if you hv friends doing fiber optic installation, borrow from them...
but splicing requires knowledge...
or alternative buy the fiber patch cord (SC type).... but i think the supplied one is long enough...

yeah... it does takes about 3 weeks for installation appointment (not enough contractor to do it, TM is having issues with this).... but on the bright side, it requires no activation... so if the installation goes well, you can use it almost immediately...
*patience is virtue*...
Basically i asked and searched that just to fulfill my curiousity. I'm staying in condo. Need not to deal with FTB and those cables. haha
condo need no FTB? My contractor recently complained that condo/apartment installation is a lot harder than landed and requires more time for wiring..
Erm... What i mean no need is one FTB per unit. Fiber optics are pulled to a central system, in exact, a VDSL2 system which link whole block of condo. I'm not so sure about this thing but i know that it's done that way. Lol... All the wiring is done when the condo is built(not sure about old condos but i'm staying inside a 1-year-old condo). We need just BTU, router, set-top box and the phone. A VDSL2 BTU which is different from those used in landed property. Basically the technician just do something down there to connect up the phone socket of my unit to the vdsl2 system(i think so) then he can just do everything from the wall socket. No drilling at all.
Speedtest to US is still bad... But practically I tried downloading a game client from US based server. Even though unconsistent but it at least hit 300kB/s on my VIP5 and peak to 550kB/s. Haha

Nah ping to local server really tells you nothing.I prefer lower ping for overseas though.I thought we should be getting even lower ping for local server.
Speed wise is still ok.I do hope local connection dont get cap.
A friend told me his amazing set up: He stay in his father's house, and his father does not want external wiring inside the house.
What he did was, the BTU, router etc is placed in the store room, then he install HomePlug to connect his STB and PC to the router which is a distance away.
He bought a pair of HomePlug device, each connected to router and PC/STB. No need wiring at all.
Don't feel the "amazingness"... Placing in the store room got high chance of getting cockroach laying eggs on it or mouse pee on it (possible but i'm more to like jk). If it's a closed air with no ventilation, the router can be fried very soon. haha
