QUOTE(crimsonhead @ Apr 10 2011, 04:00 AM) superb goal summore i think all players trying too hard feeding torres. in the end, to no avail. i dun blame torres tho, great performance by Al-habsi overall. drogs n torres seems had found bit of chemistry i guess. Ramires was superb. most of all, Alex the tank is back!! bring it on OT ! Chelsea shall go through |

QUOTE(hidzwan @ Apr 10 2011, 01:16 PM) superb goal summore Torres and Drog didn't work. Is Benayoun worked for both of them. I don't recall Drogba providing any through ball to Torres , and vise versa, but Benayoun certainly provided nice balls for both.i think all players trying too hard feeding torres. in the end, to no avail. i dun blame torres tho, great performance by Al-habsi overall. drogs n torres seems had found bit of chemistry i guess. Got one chances where it was 3 on 2 and Drogba was in a better position to tap in, but Benny kept the ball for a while for Torres to run to nice space, in the end was saved beautifully by Ali Al-Habsi. Lampard still a bit disappointing despite only against Wigan. Hope Ancelotti somehow motivate him or bench him against Man Utd. Terry is injured or rested? I heard the commentator say he has a back injury or what? |

Alex and Terry at the centre of defense line will force Iva to the right and that should be a tougher back4 for us... |

Whoa. Alex and Benayoun look sharp
Torres should put more power on his shot, all his shots were all too soft. |

Well i remember Drogba had few defenders ahead of him so he gave torres a long ball which was a good chance but Torres couldn't get the ball. And i think Benayoun should have given Drogba the ball instead, but it was a decent chance though. Both Drogba and Torres should start scoring more for them to work together, if both very despo for goals then cannot lar. And i think Drogba is over involved in set pieces. If its a good position for a direct free kick then i dun mind him taking it, but other then that, he should be in the box trying to head to ball. He has height, strenght and he's a good header.I think Benayoun really want Torres to score. Speaking about a playmarker,
Charlie Adam? Luka Modric? I love both of them. Awesome player and they're EPL proven player. |

Well yeah. Drogs even square the ball once to Torres but bit too much for him. As mentioned by someone earlier, Torres ain't Anelka type of player. Maybe CA should try a 4-4-1-1 formation which locate Lamps just behind Torres. Then apply Malouda on the left n Yossi on the right. Essien+Ramires in MF. This is against United for UCL. I foreseen it's working. If it doesn't, send Drogba+Anelka in the 2nd half back to 4-3-3. Zhirkov, Anelka n Malouda had quite decent freekicks as well. Why not give them a chance for set pieces duty. a bit slow off the blocks in the first half, with lampard and malouda both missing sitters. well okay, not exactly sitters but by their standards last season they should've dispatched them with ease. second half we had a real go at them and were unlucky not to get at least 2 goals, but our total shots reflect the way we approached the game.
ramires and drogba did really2 well. i lost count of how many interceptions and tackles the former made, while the latter looked dangerous with good link-up play and lots of determination. torres should've hit the back of the net at least once. one through that superb long ball over the top by ivanovic where he failed to control, and another slick setup by benny on the break. boy does his presence make a huge difference to our ball retention. his simple, measured passes along the ground were exactly what we expected from him and the whole team benefited from his introduction. still a bit rusty, but if we're going to break through utd i feel we're going to need him in the side. of all the players on the pitch the most undeserved gets our winning goal. that's footie for you. i counted easily around 5 crosses which malouda couldn't get past the first defender during the first half, and his overall play was in line with his current form. needs to do much, much better vs united if he starts. alex is back and showed his supreme strength, his double block in the dying minutes proving he's fit and raring to go. our human tank will be back to partner JT, and ivanovic (who had a very solid game as well) will keep our right side secure. a change back to the 4-3-3 seems to provide a little more assurance and control in midfield, but i'm not sure if that's down to the system or players. probably a mixture of both, though the usual suspects still couldn't bring their A game with our so called 'preferred' formation. the goal we scored was scrappy and had nothing to do with how we setup either. time to step up lads. some senior players should (in theory), be fired for the utd clash as this could genuinely be their final season to win something big with us. it will be difficult, but most definitely there's more than a glimmer of hope! p. s: two STUNNING goals from danny yesterday, can't wait for him to get back into the side. i like how he just creates that little bit of space for himself, before letting rip. borini's freekick goal for swansea was top class as well. didier would be so proud with the technique. Love Danny's interview also. He said he's a chelsea player and wants to play regular football with Chelsea.ramires and drogba did really2 well. i lost count of how many interceptions and tackles the former made, while the latter looked dangerous with good link-up play and lots of determination. torres should've hit the back of the net at least once. one through that superb long ball over the top by ivanovic where he failed to control, and another slick setup by benny on the break. boy does his presence make a huge difference to our ball retention. his simple, measured passes along the ground were exactly what we expected from him and the whole team benefited from his introduction. still a bit rusty, but if we're going to break through utd i feel we're going to need him in the side. of all the players on the pitch the most undeserved gets our winning goal. that's footie for you. i counted easily around 5 crosses which malouda couldn't get past the first defender during the first half, and his overall play was in line with his current form. needs to do much, much better vs united if he starts. alex is back and showed his supreme strength, his double block in the dying minutes proving he's fit and raring to go. our human tank will be back to partner JT, and ivanovic (who had a very solid game as well) will keep our right side secure. a change back to the 4-3-3 seems to provide a little more assurance and control in midfield, but i'm not sure if that's down to the system or players. probably a mixture of both, though the usual suspects still couldn't bring their A game with our so called 'preferred' formation. the goal we scored was scrappy and had nothing to do with how we setup either. time to step up lads. some senior players should (in theory), be fired for the utd clash as this could genuinely be their final season to win something big with us. it will be difficult, but most definitely there's more than a glimmer of hope! p. s: two STUNNING goals from danny yesterday, can't wait for him to get back into the side. i like how he just creates that little bit of space for himself, before letting rip. borini's freekick goal for swansea was top class as well. didier would be so proud with the technique. Used to hate Drogba a few months ago, now he's one of the best player in our line-up. But he always run wide to right side and cross , but Malouda and Lampard can't run into box in time to connect to the crosses, thats why Drogba seem ineffective in 4-3-3 a few months ago. Now got Torres/Benayoun in box means can have better chances of heading/tapping in crosses. |

daniel sturridge should be partnering torres for next season
my opinion on the last match.... lampard, malouda, anelka simply are past the primes....sell them...keep lamps(bench) and we are not attacking down the flanks...we need world class wingers....marko marin(right),arjen robben(get him back) and a decent central playmaker....don't think benayoun can cope... my suggestion is to get kaka(creates magic) |

QUOTE(goco17 @ Apr 11 2011, 01:22 PM) daniel sturridge should be partnering torres for next season I doubt very much Robben going to come back to Chelsea.. my opinion on the last match.... lampard, malouda, anelka simply are past the primes....sell them...keep lamps(bench) and we are not attacking down the flanks...we need world class wingers....marko marin(right),arjen robben(get him back) and a decent central playmaker....don't think benayoun can cope... my suggestion is to get kaka(creates magic) Benayoun would be very much used as a game changer. He is capable doing that. Kaka doing very well vs Atl Bilbao. But not too sure whether he can consistently perform like that. Age would be an issue, since Roman want to reduce the average age of the squad. |
