This is unfair imo. All new signings take time to adapt, whether it’s from teams within the same league or not. Berbatov for united is an example frequently used here. Looked a totally different player when he first joined them, and only this season he’s perfectly replicated his form at spurs. Torres has signed on at an ‘unfortunate’ time to put it lightly. The midfield is already half dead in terms of creativity, and torres just isn’t the type of player to create something out of nothing on a regular basis. No supply means no goals. Simple. At 27 he has time on his side, so unlike the fickle media we must be patient. He will come good, don’t worry. besides, i've read he's recouped almost half of his transfer fee on merchandising alone!
Germany had ozil, khedira and schweinsteiger right? Josh can be our ozil, ramires is our khedira, but what about bastian? Whatever it is, the solution has to begin with injecting more creativity into the team. Josh is definitely capable, so is studge. I think the introduction of even one of them would bring a huge difference into our play. The problem is, studge is away on loan and carlo doesn’t want to risk josh. We don’t have quality options on the bench (yuri was extremely quiet vs utd) and benayoun is our only hope now. I think he’ll get a cameo vs wigan although I’m hoping he starts.
I hear you and I will revise my 'unfair' opinion. My fervent hope is that he will return to his peak or 'prime' form. OK lets give him another season to settle down. Perhaps a new infusion of players (Neymar, Aquero?) might bootstrapped the team to CL & PL titles?Germany had ozil, khedira and schweinsteiger right? BTW did Berba sufffer the same injuries that Torres had?
Perhaps a rehab like what Rooney had in his 'rehabilitation' jaunt in the States recently might be the order?
My take is that he had ankle, knee and hamstring injuries which are deleterious. Hopefully he will not turn out to be a crock like Owen Hargreaves.
My personal opinion, based on my experience, a player is never the same after being nicked with a combination of those ligament injuries.
Ronaldinho & his trademark elastic move is a case in point. After he suffered hamstring injury was he able to perform those quick acceleration & other moves?
Similarly Torres depends on his trademark moves to score highligh goals!
Yes his shirts are selling well!
