The Emotional Highbury and The Grand Ashburton Grove

Highbury 1913-2006

For the majority of their time in south-east London, Arsenal played at the Manor Ground in Plumstead, a three-year period at the nearby Invicta Ground between 1890 and 1893 excepted. The Manor Ground was initially just a field, but the club installed stands and terracing in time for their first Football League match in September 1893. They played their home games there for the next twenty years (with two exceptions in 189495), until the move to north London in 1913.
user posted imageuser posted image

Arsenal Stadium, widely referred to as Highbury, was Arsenal's home from September 1913 until May 2006. The original stadium was designed by the renowned football architect Archibald Leitch, and had a design common to many football grounds in the UK at the time, with a single covered stand and three open-air banks of terracing. In the 1930s, the entire stadium was given a massive overhaul, with new Art Deco West and East stands constructed, opening in 1932 and 1936 respectively; in addition, the North Bank terrace had a roof added, which was later bombed during World War II and not restored until 1956.

At its peak, Highbury could hold over 60,000 spectators, and had a capacity of 57,000 until the early 1990s. The Taylor Report and Premier League regulations forced Arsenal to convert Highbury into an all-seater in time for the 199394 season, reducing the capacity to 38,419 seated spectators. This capacity had to be reduced further during Champions League matches to accommodate additional advertising hoardings, so much so that for two seasons (199899 and 199900) Arsenal played Champions League home matches at Wembley, which could house more than 70,000 spectators.

Final moments - the emotions run high in Highbury

Ashburton Grove 2007-present

Expansion of Highbury was restricted because the East Stand had been designated as a Grade II listed building and the other three stands were close to residential properties. These limitations have prevented the club from maximising the revenue that their domestic form could have brought in recent seasons. After considering various options, in 2000 Arsenal proposed building a new 60,000-seater stadium at Ashburton Grove, since renamed the Emirates Stadium, about 500 metres south-west of Highbury. The project was initially delayed by red tape and rising costs, but construction was completed in July 2006, in time for the start of the 200607 season. The stadium is named after its sponsors, the airline company Emirates, with whom the club signed the largest sponsorship deal in English football history, worth approximately 100 million; however some fans refer to the ground as Ashburton Grove, or the Grove, as they do not agree with corporate sponsorship of stadium names. The stadium will be officially known as Emirates Stadium until at least 2012, and the airline will be the club's shirt sponsor until the end of the 201314 season.

New thread but same ol dissapointment. Frankly, last night's game was one of the best and worst i've ever seen. Best coming from Newcastle's never say die attitude and worst coming from Arsenal's collapse. ANyways, i prefer to speak about the collapse rather than Newcastle's comeback.

The collapse was certainly helped by the ref's decisionmaking, which was rather appaling. First, Barton was throwing in challenges like he had a quota to do so before even being booked. He did it in the first leg where we lost and he did it again last night. I mean that challenge on Diaby, its tackles like those that breaks legs. No doubt Diaby was rightly sent off but when refs don't book these tackles, it only encourages on field thugs like Barton to continue doing it.

After the red card, i think Arsenal completely lost it. It's almost as tho we pushed the "self destruct button". We couldn't hold the ball, and that is super important when you're 1 man down. We should have just kept the ball, maintain possession and suck up what's being thrown at us. I think mentally, the players lost it after the 3rd goal. That was a soft penalty to be given. One of the softest i've ever seen. It wasn't even a handball and to begin with, the player was not even in a goal scoring opportunity. Dowd's completely got it wrong. I think a penalty is given when a player is denied a clear scoring opportunity. I can't remember who the player was, but he was completely not in any clear scoring opportunity. I would accept it if its a handball by Rosicky.

Nevertheless, it was 2 points lost rather than 1 point gain against Man Utd who coincidentally lost. The game was shocking. In Arsene Wenger's words, mathematically we lost 2 points but it was the psychological damage that is bigger.

In the end we are still the same, we cannot defend to save ourself doh.gif it's really shocking that we failed to defend a 4 goal lead. Maybe next time we should just continue attack even if we're down to 10 men tongue.gif

Anyway i guess we can all cheer up a little bit because we now got another chance thanks to Wolves.

Regardless of the scoreline, I think closing the gap to four points is still better than nothing, they could have open the lead to 7 points sweat.gif . That to me would be a bigger dent to our title hope.

btw I laugh.gif that some "fans" said that we keep talking about their loss, apparently those "fans" did not check their own thread when Newcastle scored the equalizer, they're celebrating like they've won the league laugh.gif

LOL you don't know the rule here?

MU fans can troll at their own thread, as well as rival thread. But they won't allow others to invade their thread, otherwise it will be branded as "butthurt", or "you tak suka, you keluar" laugh.gif

Moreover, they can act like policeman to regularly check other rival thread, and wanna pretend they are the lecturers to correct ppl, as you can seen in Arsenal thread, M. City thread, as well as Liverpool thread whistling.gif

atm we are without Nasri, Djourou, Song, Denilson and Fabianski.

The ppl that i wish can get speedy recovery is Song, not becoz others are not important, but at least we still got some replacement for temporary measure.

Nasri can be replace with Walcott/ Arshavin, Djourou with Squillaci, Fabianski with Szecenzy..While Song position is hardly being replacable.

at first i thought can ask Diaby to replace him temporary, but since he is being banned 3 matches, couple with Denilson injury, i was very worry about who gonna fill in the position...

How can you not blame Diaby. We already had no more holding midfielders and yet he didn't want to get some of his brain working. The consequence is dire and ultimately put the team under big pressure. Without the DM the team couldn't retain possession , and the fact that Rosicky didn't offer anything make things worst. Instead he conceded a soft penalty , sigh

*
It was Diaby's violent conduct that got him sent off, but if you take into account the incident in which Szczesny was rightly booked for time-wasting after the penalty, the perpetrator wasn't sent off although his conduct in bundling Szczesny to the ground is considerably violent.

Man's sports? Inconsistent refereeing? Vague laws of the game? or convenient argument from a sour grape? I'm sure a lot would pick the last. Doesn't change the fact that decisions from the men in black are inconsistent at best. And I feel it's extremely ridiculous to accept statements like "sometimes decisions go your way, sometimes the other way so it's best to control your own destiny". The greatest matches in the game were and should be conjured by footballing geniuses, and not through inconsistent and controversial decisions by the men in black. They should serve as the mediators, and not the aggravators. It's a shame the rot has deteriorated to this degree.

QUOTE

Soaking up pressure has never been the current generation's forte and hopefully, will never be. Although '1-0 to the Arsenal' may sound amusing, unless you want to bear with Graham's defensive team all over again, soaking up pressure is too Italian for Arsenal.

Wenger: "We are guided by the way we want to play football".

QUOTE

I think this is too big of a reaction. If Arsenal's proven pedigree that included the likes of Henry, Bergkamp, Vieira and Campbell took ages to recover from the psychological damage inflicted at the end of the long unbeaten run, who is to say Man Utd wouldn't need time to recover from their relatively lengthy unbeaten stretch? Or perhaps many think Man Utd's Rooney, Giggs and Ferdinand are mentally stronger than the Arsenal's very own history-making team?

In the context of an intense title race, which one is more damaging psychologically? Arsenal's collapse or Man Utd's unbeaten run ended at Wolves? But yeah I think I'm starting to understand why some Man Utd supporters are conceited to the extent that they keep harping on the ABU nonsense. Some of the people here are feeding their ego. Dang I'm guilty of this too laugh.gif. In any case, it's ridiculously shortsighted to take only Man Utd into account. Other teams like Chelsea are slowly regaining their form. Man Utd is only another team challenging for the title, have some respect for other teams like Chelsea or even Man City.

Haven't you noticed Arsenal's steel this season? Scraping victories, confronting physically bigger teams etc? Again a lot may say I'm delusional but I'd like to think of myself as an optimist.

Victoria Concordia Crescit fellow gooners!

Reporting in the new thread tongue.gif

As I mentioned in the last post of previous thread,
Please continue giving your support to liez like how you all had been to me.

Back to our discussion, MU lost is indeed a happy news to everyone but their own fans.

However, please understand that's only a bonus.

Discussing about our own team should be more helping in challenging for honours.

Diaby behavior is unacceptable - no matter what happened, a professional football of his experience MUST put his team ahead of EVERYTHING! No excuse!

Rosicky was poor. I do not know how to handle this but this is one of the obvious outcomes from the match and AW has to do something about it.

Our CBs are not good enough ... and not enough to cover the injuries and other absences. It's too late for new players as the transfer window has closed. AW should identify capable backups.

Next, AW should review if his tactics really work. He should get some fresh ideas from his coaching staffs, etc...

Bring back Ramsey and whoever useful from loan.

The team is almost similar already to the one that nearly get rape in Emirates last season by Barca.

so it's a knee injury. maybe we did overused Johan during these past month after all

hopefully he'll not be out for long as Seba did not impress 1 bit so far, more so when partnering Laurent

also, Abou will only miss 1 match thru suspension right? Seba only got 1 match for his red card during the FA Cup match

Just saw the MOTD highlights. Let's not be too biased here, their first was a definite penalty. The second penalty was soft. But scratch that goal away, and they still scored 4 perfectly legit goals, one of which was incorrectly ruled offside. So no matter what jersey Phil Down was wearing underneath, no matter we were down to 10 men, the fact is that we capitulated on our own accord. Simple as that. How many of you actually thought, right after Diaby was sent off, that we would go on to draw or lose the game? No one. Sure, it may have made the game more difficult, yes, we probably would find it hard to score another, but to be incapable of defending a 4-goal lead? Rubbish. That alone says enough of performance.

So lay off Diaby. I'm not his biggest fan. I, like many others, wanted him out 2 seasons ago, but I can understand his reaction to that horrible tackle from barton, especially for someone who has had his leg broken by one of those "tackles" before. Meh, I'm more inclined at pointing the finger at the 10 remaining men on the pitch. And at Wenger.

should be 3 matches because it's a red card for violent conduct.

Squillaci's red is for professional foul(denying clear goalscoring opportunity)

@quickfire the second penalty was soft and also the free kick that lead to the fourth goal was even softer. Down to 10 men + ref help with 2. Arsenal fans should be proud our team can go away and get a point with 10 v 12.

Some of us here are letting frustration getting the better of us. I guess when things doesn't go right, we always try to blame someone, and in this context, Diaby is made the escape goat.

Let me be clear on this, Barton is a thug who don't deserve to play football. Hence, football doesn't need player's like him, the only place he deserve to be in is Prison. I cannot understand why managers and even refs are protecting him.
He's very much "lucky?" not to be carded at all with challenges like that. I can understand the frustration Diaby had, but being a professional footballer, he should have kept his emotion and reacted in a manner which would not getting him send off.

Albeit that, i believe we started the second half too complacent, giving balls away, laid back, and did not seemed to be having the possession well. It went worst with Diaby went off. I thought Rosicky's substitution was a bad one tactically. This is where a leader should have played a big part of collectively bringing everyone togather when they are about to self destruct. Honestly, Fabregas can be inspiring, time like this we would need a midfield general, i don't see that in him, after Viera left.

Lets move on, we are playing Wolves next, i hope we can put this result in the past like how we did on Spurs and Sunderland. Still think we sit in the best position to win the title, ( At one point i really had lost hope yesterday) 4 points is not that far, but remind you, City and Chelsea are catching up on us. United ain't the only one to watch out for.

Yeah like I said their second penalty was soft as poof, but they also scored a legit goal that was ruled offside. The foul that lead to the freekick that lead to the last goal was probably soft too... couldn't really get a good look at it but it seemed like only a small nudge from Rosicky.

I know the rules say otherwise, but personally I think a little pushing and shoving never hurt anyone. I mean, it wasn't like Diaby punched Barton in the face. But that's for another discussion.

Lots of idiots saying that was a perfectly good tackle from Barton. "Robust" is what gets thrown around a lot. They think as long as you get the ball it doesn't matter what happens after. Kinda like saying the police can deal as much collateral damage to innocent people nearby as long as they manage to take down the sole bad guy. Crock of shit!

perhaps he would have gotten a red as well, if and only if. but hey i got a point
now i understand why diaby and wenger is furious.
blaming on ridiculous reasons is bad, please blame it on something that has some valid point

Watch the 2nd half only yesterday. IMHO, the blame of this draw lies on the feet of the 10 remaining player on the pitch yesterday. If it wasn't for some very good goalkeeping by Wolsjech(is this correct?), we would have lost he game.

How can a title challenger can't protect a 4 goal lead? Its like the team just implode after the red card. Diaby's reaction shows his lack of professionalism. Maybe he saw a flash of his old injury from that challenge, we will never know. But he should have done better. Van Peesie got control of his own temper already, if compare to yesteryears.

What Arsenal and Arsene need to do right now is to just focus on the next game and not repeat the mistakes in this game again

#62 post...YAY new thread...

like i said, arsenal played badly last night...a lot of set pieces, we lose the high ball...

IMO, I don't blame Diaby 100%...NU was planning this from the start to get one of our player red carded...

1. I think it's something to do with morale boost.. All I can say is, IMHO, at the start of 2nd half, they're too over-confident. Later on their morale go down after the sending off because they know NU will go all out in front of their fans with 40 minutes remaining, plus they know they don't have holding midfielder + strong CB after Djourou's injury (forgive me but I don't think Squillacci is strong and fast enough), the pressure is there.

2. Plus, our captain should do whatever it takes to boost up the morale. Just yells "focus woi!", scream "come on u guys!" or scold "hoi you, hold the line!" etc etc.. like Gerrard and Terry always did to make sure everybody focus on the ball. Maybe I watch in TV and can't see clearly whether our captain did it or not.

3. The Referee management, everyone will agree, it sucks. 2nd penalty is too soft.

4. Our 2 subs didn't contribute at all.

After all, a draw is better than a lose. It can happen to anyone else. No matter we're title contenders or 'xx'th times champion or not, it can happen if God want it that way tongue.gif tongue.gif tongue.gif

Still, 4 points gap separate us from the leader is good enough.

I remember the good ol' days back in the 01/02 season where we played with 10 men in like every other match and still won most of them and everyone was saying we practiced with 10 men during training. laugh.gif

Our defend is the best back then with poor offense. Lol. We had a red card collector.

Everyone talking about diaby reaction. What the difference between diaby push on Barton & Nolan choke slam on arsenal goalie??? To me what Nolan did was worst then diaby.

Diaby slow motion and barton act kesian while Nolan and Barton combo on woj. Barton hide the red viewing angle it seems. Seasoned Pro work they have.

No la back then our attack was stronger than now. It was the era of Henry, Bergkamp, Pires, Vieira, Ljungberg et al. Defense was no slouch too, although it was never our forte.

reach mamak when we are already 4-nil up.

diaby reaction is fking stupid, since the ref is siding them.
dont do unnecessary shit that can cause u to be sent off !!
this will put unnecessary pressure to the team.
u can dance in front of barton when we had won.
now he got the last laugh doh.gif

good lesson to the lads too, maybe diaby thinks that since
they are already 4-nil up, we can afford to be have one player recarded.

the remaining 10 players except the keeper should be blame as well.
we are 4-nil up before the send off, just hold the line for another 30mins +
is it that hard ?? ffs i remember once upon a time, we ever won with 9 men and 2 red cards.
and yet we letting in goal within 10 mins interval now vmad.gif

fk the ref or watever shit barton did, when things aint flowing your way, you up your game.
its time they start to get use to the ref siding other teams, watever the odds, they just have to think of a way.
park the bus or watever it takes just hold on the line and keep possession only mah !!
even with 10men, even with the ref siding them, we should be able to defend a 4 goals lead. we are arsenal !!

i can accept that we dont win trophy for sometime, but this kinda performance is really unacceptable.
feel even worse after i knew mu lose, because we would have been 2 pts behind instead of 4. wasted such a glorious chance to close the gap. sad.gif

Let have some fun after the abysmal result last nite . LMAO on this :

Bendtner confidence off the scale
Nicklas Bendtner: 10 out of 9.

February 5, 2011
Email Print By ESPNsoccernet staff

Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner has scored highly in 'self-perceived competence' after Arsenal's sport psychologist Jacques Crevoisier revealed that the Danish striker's mark was off the scale.

Bendtner has made several comments in the media over the years highlighting his belief in himself and many have suggested that his confidence borders on arrogance. However, Arsenal use psychological tests to determine their players' mental abilities in relation to their footballing abilities and the striker is certainly not lacking in one area.

"One of the categories is called 'self perceived competence,' i.e. how good the player himself thinks he is,'' Crevoisier told Swedish magazine Offside. ''On a scale up to 9, Bendtner got 10! We have never seen that before. Pat Rice [Arsenal's assistant manager] was sitting next to me and couldn't stop laughing.

"When Bendtner misses a chance, he is always genuinely convinced that it wasn't his fault. You might say that's a problem, and to a certain degree it can be. But you can also view it as this guy has a remarkably ability to come back after set-backs."

The test is made-up of 117 questions designed to test players' self-belief, concentration levels and determination and is overseen by Crevoisier, who specialises in working with young French players at France's Clairefontaine academy as well as the Gunners' stars.

That was the most impressive formation I have seen imo.

Played to the perfection on countering every possible way of Chelsea pushing in for the win.

Fuh, lucky Arsenal don't have to visit Anfield anymore this season tongue.gif

I mean we don't have to visit Anfield at the very least.

But of course the tactics could be very much different when they play Arsenal @ Emirates.

losing temper is the last thing we need on the pitch. if things doesn't goes well, it is better to offload him elsewhere especially when we have Rambo back and the emergence of Wilshere this season. the team shud get on the winning track back this weekend and lets hope Citeh can beat ManU so we can reduce the gap to 1 point. flex.gif

wow.seriously?couldn't find any source on the net but if it's true, the one who they should investigate is the referee.look at ivanovic penalty claims last night.if the ref was phil dowd,he'd got the penalty.but marriner didn't give it.

then we must've been watching different Abou this season. if anything, his performance against Newcastle (bar the sending off) showed us why le Boss never bother to look for competition for Alex Song. i'd even say Abou was superb during the 1st half, epitomized everything that le Boss want from our midfielder

yes, his red card was stupid. he should have trying to get his payback without the referee noticing it tongue.gif but to say his style of play doesn't suit us is just plain wrong IMO

yes, there are many reasons for Abou to react the way he did. i am in no way saying that what he did was right, in fact his sending off started Newcastle revival (along with other matters i.e. Johan withdrawal, we pressed the panic button way to early etc) so how can that be right. however, for a player whose career had been interrupted by injuries a lot of times and when most of the injuries came from dangerous tackle, 1 can at least try to understand why he reacted like that.

anyway, lesson learnt and hopefully we'll never see that kind of stupidity ever again

Le match fou entre Newcastle et Arsenal de samedi après-midi en Premier League (4-4) n'a pas fini de faire parler. Damn. Can't see video in the office.

But Arsenal.com loan watch reported he played 90 minutes. The Jap kid must have really impressed Feyenoord to allow him to start the game and leave him on till the end!

That Miyaichi was good in the match showed in the video. Got pace, dribbling skill and know to trick his opponent.

Need to improve on his cross and decision making though which I believed can be trained thru experience.

So, here is Phil Dowd's record against us this season:

3D, 1L, showed 2 red cards against us and awarded 4 penalties against us. Fascinating?

If the Interpol were to get involved the linesman who gave that penalty and the officials are the ones who should be investigated rolleyes.gif

Official Line: Nolan and Diaby should have seen red but second Newcastle penalty was baffling

QUOTE
Barton's tackle on Diaby

I've given Barton plenty of stick in the past but his tackle on Diaby while robust was perfectly acceptable. He was in control of his movement and won the ball. Diaby was caught in the follow through, due to the way he went into the tackle and although his reaction was understandable given his previous injuries, it was over the top and left Dowd no option but to show red.

Should Nolan have been sent off?

'All we want is consistency ref,' tweeted Jack Wilshere. Nolan joined the fracas involving Diaby and pushed him. If Diaby had to go for two pushes, as Dowd indicated, then surely Nolan should have had yellow for his shove on Diaby and then at least another yellow for throwing Arsenal keeper Szczesny to the ground after Newcastle's first goal. Wilshere was right and should not be punished by the FA

Newcastle's penalties

The first penalty was given for a silly tackle by Koscielny on Best. It was soft, but the defender made contact when there was no need. But the second penalty was baffling. Assistant Trevor Massey flagged having seen a push by Rosicky. Replays showed the decision was wrong

wow.kinda makes sense on rosicky's part though.he's the one tried to play newcastle player onside before the ref called for offside.for the second penalty, there's report said that it was rosicky's foul that lead to the penalty.the last goal, freekick was conceded after rosicky's foul again.coincidence? hmm.gif

Not very good imo. Missed a kick in 3:35...then from that till 3:35.... Did not look interest and just walk around in the box. Losses possession quite alot of time. Hopes he does not stop improving.

besides the 3rd goal which is not a penalty ... the other 3 goals all reasonable ...

don't just blame the referee ... like diaby, who ask him raise his hand ...

4 goals up in 26 minutes ... u should have win easily if diaby keep his cool ...

Andrey Arshavin on the reaction of Wenger and the players after Newcastle

CODE
On Sunday, Arshavin said:

It happened that the incredible beginning ended in a tragic way. Probably, the magnet was attached only to one goal: all 8 balls flew into it. It’s a disappointing and unfortunate draw for us, but for our opponent it’s like a victory.

No, [this never happened to me]. Once there was a match that ended in 4-4. But back then I had quite a different mood, today, I’m upset. We shouldn’t have let our win slip.

[Arsene Wenger] didn’t say anything. It is clear that he was unhappy, frustrated and disappointed as anybody had he happened to be in his shoes in this situation. [The players are all] sad. Maybe, just the Wolves’ win over Manchester United slightly sugared the pill.

There is no breakdown. We have no right to afford it. If we want to win, we shouldn’t cry, we have to analyze this failure and draw the right conclusions. This day is already over. Now we have to think about and prepare for the next game in the Championship. By the way, the next game is going to be against the offender of Man Utd.

About the Hero shirt, its actually a nickname for the players. I see it practically used all around so i dont think it matters much. Its not that Torres is a hero or something. Its more like player=hero. They just switch the names. Alot of teams use this nick for jersey sales and advertisements.

Put his performance in last night's match aside.... The way Chelsea rebranded him sounds a lil funny... Should just call him 'Ace' Torres, 'Genius' Torres, 'Marauder' Torres, 'Class' Torres, 'Legendary myth' Torres, 'Beyond ordinary' Torres...But out of all... They put it 'Hero' Torres.... I will go jaw drop doh.gif if it happened in Arsenal. I mean... its best the word Hero be used for likes of Terry, Lampard and Drogba...but why Torres who is yet to perform. But hope Torres can shine out in Chelsea for he had taken so much effort to get to the Chels.

Just realised this is a new thread, good luck to you then liez!

As for Rosicky, he hasn't performed well anytime this year - misguided passes, unsure touches, mistimed tackles etc. Prolly more to do with rustiness than corruption.

The team has to shoulder the blame. Even with a bad decision by the ref, no team has any business losing a 4 goal lead. And even with a man down, Arsenal had a tried and tested defensive tactic - possession.

Instead, we squandered every bit of possession. We tried to break on the counter when everyone was sitting deep and had to run more to switch to attack and lost possession royally. When we did take our time the passes were certainly not up to standard. Even Arsene is not complaining much about other factors, but realised we were panicky.

The general consensus by pundits hit the spot, even if many times they;re wrong about Arsenal. When they say we have a brittle mentality, it's generally true. These lads are mostly 23 and below

Anyway, with van Persie pulling out of Nethelands with the flu, I don't mind if he gets rested for Wolves and let Bendtner or Chamakh in for a bit.

As for Diaby, I think he did well in the 1st half too. He was always there to provide muscle and a decent amount of technical ability. Against Everton, his introduction allowed us to bring the fight to them when previously Felainini and co. were kicking our midfield around the park. When Arsenal comes up against these bruisers we need to get physical and Diaby brings that with him, along with the higher than average technical ability most Arsenal players possess.

QUOTE(Casanova88 @ Feb 7 2011, 03:24 PM)
Arsenal Self-Destruct syndrome is still there. The team doesn't look like a champion at all.

saw the link to 14 minutes highlight of our little Japanese debut with Feyenoord at AM, and sharing it here. considering it is his 1st competitive match in Europe and his main experiences prior to this is high school football, i am impressed

*
Conclusions from a measly single match:

For an 18-year-old, his not physically smaller than many of his teammates and these are big Dutchies! Has pace and very vitally, confidence. Dares to make runs and one killer pass attempt.

On the other hand, bad decision-making (too predictable. After 2 minutes of the video you could guess what his next action is, even if you wish it wasn't). Bet the right-sided Vitesse players knew when to do what on him after that. It's the reason why he loses possession primarily on tackles and having his crosses closed out. Experience trumps his skill, I suppose.

But then again, like many other Arsenal youth players, oozes experience. I would say he won't look out of place in the Championship.

However, like many Arsenal youth, can just as easily fizzle out and bomb. Let's hope Arsene's view that he has stereotypical Japanese work ethics is true because if he avoids the trap of highly-paid youth players getting complacent, he could turn out as a good winger.

No FA action over Wilshere tweets

QUOTE
Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere will not face any disciplinary action from the Football Association over his Twitter comments criticising referee Phil Dowd after Saturday’s 4-4 draw at Newcastle.

Wilshere, who has joined up with the England squad ahead of the friendly in Denmark, used his Twitter feed to hit out at Dowd’s handling of the Barclays Premier League clash, where Arsenal had raced into a 4-0 lead before having Abou Diaby sent off which proved to be the catalyst for Newcastle’s amazing comeback.

However, while the FA did consider the matter, the governing body will not be taking things further.

Former Liverpool striker Ryan Babel was fined £10,000 (€12,000) by the FA last month when he posted a doctored photo of referee Howard Webb in a Manchester United shirt, following a 1-0 defeat for Kenny Dalglish's team at Old Trafford.

However, Wilshere has escaped any sanction.

Dowd sent off Diaby in the 48th minute after he reacted to a challenge by Joey Barton by shoving the Newcastle player to the ground.

Wilshere felt a later incident involving Kevin Nolan and Wojciech Szczesny, in the immediate aftermath of the first of Barton’s two penalties, was just as serious and should have seen the Newcastle midfielder receive the same punishment as Diaby.

“Inconsistent refereeing needs to stop. It’s killing the game. If Diaby goes, what’s the difference between that and Nolan on our keeper?” Wilshere had posted on Twitter, an entry which was subsequently deleted by the Arsenal midfielder.

The draw at Newcastle broke my heart so much I couldn't even watch the BPL weekly game review.... sad.gif sad.gif sad.gif

To think that we performed so badly after losing just a bit-part player was disheartening... it's more mental than physical... if we lost Fabregas or Van Persie to a red card than I can understand la.. but Diaby ? We couldn't get any passing going straightaway after that, our players just dribble the ball up then lose it... even Malaysian players can play better than that... okay the dubious penalty decision was rubbish, but why put ourselves under so much pressure that we had to concede a stupid penalty ? I thought we were masters at keeping the ball.. no sign of that in the second half....

Experience counts. Period.

I think Wishere was smart (or lucky?) for making the statement sounded general and most importantly, no referee name mentioned. In fact, "Inconsistent refereeing needs to stop. It’s killing the game." - is something FA should agree at smile.gif

To be fair, Rio Ferdinand was once suspended for missing a routine drug test, so the FA can come down hard on Englishmen as well.

And Wilshere's tweet is a very mild and reasonable one, whereas Babel's was mindless conspiracy.

In any case, credit where credit's due, Barton's tackle on Diaby, while hard, was fair. And despite being a twat he did well to not retaliate against Diaby (where Nolan did).

We have to take it on the chin, admit that mistakes were made and take responsibility.

Hope that the lads come back strong.

then we just have agree to disagree. i think both of Joey Barton tackles (on Andy and Abou) were dangerous and warranted a booking on each occasion. and i stand by my opinion that Phil Dowd had a horrible game

So if Diaby's leg had been broken into 29820482039840923 pieces but Barton got the to ball first. Will you still regard it as a fair challenge?

The mere fact that the tackle was dangerous regardless of whehter he got to the ball first warrants a red. Period.

not dirty football, it's "typical english football". NU is a typical english team which thy proud of. arsenal is french. Barton did da bad tackle at right time n right angle. cant blame bloody reff bcos he wasnt in da right angle to witness da tackle, n he is just another english anyway. Let's hope our J.W will show some work rate to anchor n dictate our midfield well in next game. keep our free flowing football style going.... no point to play rugby/wrestling in football game. Chamakh should b fielded next with walcott on right wing n Bendt on left wing (he could only score wif right foot). gd luck to arsene wenger wif da bloody decision to keep his money instead of buying a CB/DM. we don even have any backup CB anymore. =(

for this oh my...hahaha..

i thought i saw our guys tried to make an attack on 2nd half even though they lose Diaby.. some how it can go thru (it's an advantage to NU and kaboom!!! they make use of the advantages) and for our guys sweat.gif

it's really sad that we shud win after concede 4 goal earlier and reality some how NU manage to get draw with us( i was sweat.gif when i saw late trying from NU luckily it went out from the goal post... credit to WS even though he lets 4 goals but still he shows us that he capable to be NO. 1 Stopper for Arsenal as how he had tried do his job on 2nd half)

anyway, hope our guys learn from this game and make comeback this Saturday

Yes, still a fair challenge.

His leg wasn't broken and if you look, it is a fairly run-of-the-mill challenge.

Neither the FA nor even Arsene has really said anything bad about that challenge because there's nothing to say about it.

P.S. I agree completely that dangerous tackles should be red carded, never said otherwise. My point clearly was that Barton's tackle on Diaby was not dangerous, but expected.

P.P.S After re-watching it, I realise my memory of the tackle was bad. It was quite dangerous and reckless, apologies.

Indeed. There's no real way to measure referree performance anyway. They're entitled to make as many mistakes as players do, in my mind.

It's just that sometimes these mistakes occur in prominent events (penalties etc.)

It was the linesman though, who gave the crappy second penalty.

This is just an argument for video technology, in my opinion.

Well, just sharing some inputs here.

While it's good to have suggestions to improve the thread, it will be better if we can go extra miles in making it happens by:
1. Work on the suggestion mentioned and pass the result (content) to TS to upload.
2. Provide samples (if it is available in other forum) or sources (for data extraction/references) etc.

Lastly, not everyone read the first page often whistling.gif (many do not even bother what's in the subtitle of the thread whistling.gif whistling.gif whistling.gif )

I'm the one who suggested that video technology should not be implemented in football as it takes away the joy of watching football. Ironically, it hit me back when Arsenal was on the receiving end of 2 dubious calls where video technology might have prevented us from drawing that game.

And do anyone here able to provide me a/afew reliable source of such database especially player's assist. stats? I got one from Arsenal mania http://arsenal-mania.com/fixtures/statistics/players but it doesn't look correct (on Chamakh's stats alone 34 app with 13 goals?)

Neither the FA nor even Arsene has really said anything bad about that challenge because there's nothing to say about it.

P.S. I agree completely that dangerous tackles should be red carded, never said otherwise. My point clearly was that Barton's tackle on Diaby was not dangerous, but expected.

Indeed. There's no real way to measure referree performance anyway. They're entitled to make as many mistakes as players do, in my mind.

It's just that sometimes these mistakes occur in prominent events (penalties etc.)

It was the linesman though, who gave the crappy second penalty.

This is just an argument for video technology, in my opinion.

first on the tackle, i disagree with u, it was a dangerous tackle....

2nd, ref issues, they have technical board that analyze ref performance each game... in fact some refs were relegated to other division becoz they made bad decisions in a match... but too bad, the technical board decision wont have any affect for past result/decision except for dubious goal award (own goal or striker goal)...

Fair enough, after re-watching the tackle, I would say my memory of it was wrong. It was a dangerous tackle.

Apologies.

Indeed, video technology will at least reduce errors where the result is game stoppage.

But even the technical board can be wrong sometimes. Stuart Attwell was allowed to referree two games before he was found out.

So, seems that the Swiss FA doctor has confirmed that Djourou just suffered bad bruising on his knee and will only be out for around a week. Very welcome news indeed. No sauce btw, took the info off an arsenal forum lol.

I've said this times and times. Not only after Newcastle game.

Rosicky has to go. He has already pass his prime and too little to offer to us.
Ramsey is a better player than Rosicky.

As much as I like him when we first signed him, he looked a diff player after his long term injury.

When was the last time he scored a goal?

Possession football is also a good defensive tactic (the opponent can't attack or build momentum when we have the ball). Since we're good at it, prolly better at perfecting that then parking le bus.

Problem with Saturday was that our second half passing were pretty bad and we couldn't keep possession.

Well, I am *NOT* saying that we MUST sell Rosicky but AW should evaluate his worth and contribution to the team. Maybe playing with different instructions or positions will improve ... I do not know. I do agree that in general, Rosicky performance is deteriorating.

... and to be fair to Rosicky, he is never a good goal-scorer since the very beginning.

Is Rosicky contribute better than other non-first-XI like Eboue? I doubt.

well.. rosicky had flashes of brilliance on him. remember when he came to arsenal, he had a good campaign with Czech team. He has been unlucky in terms of injury and to be fair, he didn't get much 1st team time either.

it's hard to see how he fit into the team now that Jack, song, Nasri and even Diaby is in front of him in pecking order.

He was a good CM on his days... however i think if AW got some offers for him this summer, don't hesitate to sell him. Promote Lansbury/JET is better for our future.

btw, good news on JD knee. Hope he can stay healthy.... and Woj needs to watch out who he ran into. hahahaha

Defender Johan Djourou hopes to be fit for Arsenal's home match against Wolves this Saturday, calming fears over the extent of his knee injury.

Swiss centre-half Djourou, who missed nine months of last season with a knee problem, hobbled off at Newcastle last Saturday after hurting his knee.

But the Switzerland Football Association has confirmed the 24-year-old is only suffering from bruising.

It is a boost for Arsenal, with Thomas Vermaelen weeks away from returning.

Had Djourou been sidelined, Arsenal would have been left with Lauren Koscielny and Sebastien Squillaci as their only fit central defenders, with the Gunners playing Barcelona at the Emirates on 16 February in the first leg of their Champions League last 16 tie.

It was Squillaci who replaced Djourou early in the second half of Arsenal's 4-4 draw at Newcastle.

Former England manager Graham Taylor admits he is ''surprised'' by Fabio Capello's handling of Jack Wilshere ahead of the Arsenal teenager's full debut against Denmark.

Capello said the youngster possesses ''the same talent'' as the players he rates as the best he has managed in his career - AC Milan defenders Paolo Maldini and Franco Baresi and Real Madrid forward Raul - and also likened him to Andrea Pirlo.

And Taylor told BBC Radio 5 Live: ''The big surprise to me is how much Wilshere has been praised by Fabio Capello, how flowing in praise he's been of one player before he's actually played one full game. I just hope Wilshere does have a good game tonight.

''He's a good player, there's no doubt about that, from all accounts he handles all situations very well. But at international level, we have a record of players who don't produce it at international level, that's been one of our problems.

''Let's give him a few games and then lets get talking about him instead of building him up into such a player before he's completed one international game.

http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story/_/...-praise?cc=4716

Hopefully both Jack & Walcott and those playing for their countries will come back injury free.

We need them to be super fit for all the matches in February 2011, not forgetting the Carling Cup final on 27 February 2011.

Nicklas Bendtner prepared to leave Arsenal this summer

Nicklas Bendtner admits he may have to leave Arsenal this summer after becoming frustrated at his lack of first-team opportunities.

Bendtner is just returning to full fitness after injury problems this season. But the Denmark international, who will face England in Copenhagen on Wednesday, feels he has to play regular football.

"I have a lot of feelings for Arsenal and it means something great to me," he said. "I would be sad to leave it, but you have to think about yourself and, with the career goals I have, I cannot be sitting on the bench.

"That's the way it is. I will do my best for Arsenal throughout the season. Hopefully I will be there next season as well but we have to wait and see. But, if my situation at Arsenal doesn't change, I will have to look at it because I want to play football.

"I am at a stage of my career now where I think I should play every game and I should develop and score goals."

http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011/fe...endtner-arsenal
On the one hand, it's a shame to see him shunted to the wings in the few occassions he plays and his got the cliched good feet for his height, but on the other hand he's not completely central to future plans.

If we end up buying guys like Eden Hazard, there'll be more competition on the flanks and van Persie and Chamakh to contend with.

I appreciate him bringing his egotistical confidence to a team that needs more of confidence, though.

Looking forward to Wilshere, Walcott and Bendtner on the same field tonight.

I always think there are 99% of match fixing sport in the world. Else these bookmakers won't be able to survive in this market. Just look at how many sportbet on website now?

Game against NUFC is one of the example. 2nd penalty was a joke. bloody fatty referee.

Certainly agree, if there are absolutely no match fixing, they will be having nightmares every night... biggrin.gif

Look at the Italy serie a, the scandal in 2006. That maybe just one of the many match fixing uncovered, many still aren't.

And EPL is just too popular to be involved in a scandal, imagine what will happen to all the advertisers, sponsors, etc.... if something is uncovered. biggrin.gif

Not a goal scorer? Yeah but what is he?
I dont see him creating goals too. I dont see him holding the midfield for us too.
This guy is bad in attack as well as defense too.
The only good thing of him is that he can still play some decent 1 touch football and that's all.

I only remember he was brilliant when Hleb was still with us.
Did he get injury that time after that?

Then he become a liability instead than asset for us.
And we have to remember he's not getting younger anymore.

Time for Ramsey to shine. Hopefully he's still same after that injury, touchwood.
Heck I would even place Denilson ahead of Rosicky.
He would do good in smaller clubs but I dont like the idea of Rosicky starting and wasting up a slot where we could have field Arshavin/Ramsey/ or another striker.

Rosicky is/was a playmaker when he joined us. Just that he fired some great long-shots in WC, many started to label him as a prolific midfielder goal-scorer sweat.gif

No matter what, I agree with you that he is on his decline and AW should seriously consider his contribution to the team.

However, on a contradicting point, he never/seldom complains even though he doesn't start many games, why should we sell him? hmm.gif I think he is a capable backup players after Nasri, Arshavin, Walcott, Eboue, (I'm only mentioning the wide players)

come to think of it, each player definitely has something to contribute
we cant go on saying this player can give the team that and this
i am pretty sure there are a lot of other players out there arguably can give us more
heck everyone definitely have their on and off days, even the weakest of players

base on what kimhoong said then yeh there's a point
rosicky, doesnt complain....very suitable as a back up player,
so i guess the question here is, are there players out there that doesn't complain, willing to be a back up player and can provide us more then what rosicky can.
tough one id say

but i feel, some BPL tean will make a move for him sooner or later.
i can feel him staying at another BPL club. Maybe when his contract ends
time will tell

Rosicky is frequently used to stand in for Fabregas I think and he is one of our more creative players. His assist for Chamakh against Villa shows the sort of thing that I think he was brought in for.

He has slumped in form lately but I thought he was decent earlier in the season. The short slump I believe is certainly not reason enough to be a surefire sell and as kimhoong pointed out, he's not complaining. I'd personally think that we only have a few Fabregas backups and I'd rather keep Nasri in a more advanced role than pull him deep like Fabregas while Wilshere is perfect where he usually is.

Add to the fact that both are first choice now and selling Rosicky would, I think, necessitate a purchase of another creative player who might be less accommodating than Rosicky.

Either way, I'd give him time to shake off his slump. He was barely getting any game time to get any momentum going.

Added on February 10, 2011, 8:12 amKoscielny didn't start but Diaby got 30 minutes of game time. Looks like Laurent Blanc fancies them big men in the middle. Walcott got an assist and Wilshere, thankfully, didn't let the hype get to him and I thought was very useful.

And no one got injured! biggrin.gif

Today is one of the best day in my life as I received 2 packages from England....And guess what... I got what I ordered!

At first, a neighbor lives at another street came to me and said the postman sent a package wrongly to his house which happened to be mine, Then I guessed it might be the shirt I ordered via jonrwg weeks ago....and I was right. rclxms.gif

get yours today, mate!

http://shop.ebay.co.uk/*allstarsignings*/m...=&_trksid=p3686

Don't simply buy signature shirts from e-bay as many of them aren't authentic despite the provision of Certificate of Authentication (COA). They signed themselves and made their own COA, sell it overseas and buyers had no ideas how and what signature the players actually look like or if they do know, there are quite a number of signature replicator in a country alone.... My sister can replicate signature nicely too... So I only buy signature shirts from All Stars Signing as they provide me a picture of the star actually signed the shirt and the venue of the event. - wink.gif

Buy them onyl if you genuinely believe that they are authentic.

is he that good beside yesterday match? I don't know about him but i have skepticism about him. Suddenly the media hype him especially in England which conclude he is better than Wilshere and every big club want to sign him. Based on wiki, he only made his debut for Ajax senior squad this season. Let him serve his club a little bit longer.

Arsenal do well on matchday revenue

QUOTE
Submitted by WG on Thu, 10/02/2011 - 18:59

Arsenal are the only club in the Deloitte Money League to receive more than 40 per cent of revenues from matchday activities.  The club ranks 3rd in Europe in terms of matchday revenue of €114.7m, behind Manchester United in 2nd place with matchday revenues of €122.7m.  The seventh ranked club, Liverpool, earn only 53 per cent of Barcelona's total and less than €2m per match compared with more than €3.5m for Arsenal and Manchester United.

The move to the Emirates Stadium in 2006/07 provided a step change in the Gunners' revenue with 2009/10 revenues 69 per cent higher than only five years ago.  The increased stadium capacity and premium pricing - and notably the expanded corporate hospitality capacity - have provided more than half of that growth.  By contrast, commercial revenues have only provided 11 per cent of the total revenue growth in the same period.

Deloitte note that with all but the elite clubs facing an increased challenge in delivering commercial revenue growth in the difficult climate, matchday revenues have become increasingly important to clubs seeking to have more balanced revenue streams.  Matchday revenue is the most controllable revenue stream on a day-to-day basis.

Celtic and Rangers have not appeared in the Money League since mid-decade in the noughties, but they still generated the 10th and 14th highest matchday revenues owing to their phenomenal support.  Each club has average league attendances in excess of 45,000.

In terms of the share of revenue provided by matchday revenue, English clubs in the Money League rank as follows:

    * Arsenal 42%

    * Manchester United 35%

    * Chelsea 32%

    * Tottenham Hotspur 31%

    * Aston Villa 27%

    * Liverpool 23%

    * Manchester City 20%

I doubt.
** Typo realized a bit too late sweat.gif

QUOTE(prelude23 @ Feb 10 2011, 01:44 AM)

*
I really feel sorry for rosicky, i also think the change in our system has also hurt his style as the players that he use to complement like the likes of hleb (thanks for mentioning that fact - it is a point to ponder) different personnel will bring out different qualities in a player. It's no wonder certain players also rise to prominence due to the new system and different players playing alongside and some may look a shade of themselves. Best example is kosc who looks great next to johan but next to squllaci not as assuring anymore.

I would still like to have rosicky in the squad because of his attitude and experience in the game! and i really hope that the goal for his national team will give him the boost and confidence he needs to translate it back to club form! =) I wouldn't place denilson ahead of rosicky at all. We also have to remember that Rosicky has been so unfortunate and perhaps not even the same player he was before the injury.

Rosicky had this really nasty injury where no one knew what was wrong when he keep getting injured but turns out it was the tendon that had been detached from the bone ( yikes ) that the scans didn't pick up. It was during an op that only that they discovered it. That took a chunk - a year plus i think. out of him =(

I bet he will get any chance at all. He will be line after Mascherano (who's still on the bench) who is still after Busquet now.

Its better for Diaby not going anywhere and stays in Arsenal and work out his techniques more.

And then Diaby got tackled , he go choke slam the tackler . But thankfully the referee sides Barca and also a WWE fans , Diaby only get some talking .

Regardless , we need a genuine Song backup for the next transfer . Diaby lost his head easily will Denilson not up to par yet .

i guess, L sizing was snatched up pretty fast...but from the picture can't really determind if it's embroide for the 'carling final' on the chest...hoping someone somewhere will sell carling final shirt with arm patch smile.gif

Yes both are velvet..I wanted to get a UCL shirt with the respect patches..guess I would just buy other clubs shirt then..any recommendation? tongue.gif

I somehow felt the 'carling final' is printed..because I saw our home shirt also left the same sizes like the carling cup shirt,if so I wont buy..maybe will buy cup winner shirt instead then (if got la)..why la arsenal didnt sell shirt with carling patch..or ucl shirt or other colour gk shirt..about carling cup arm patch, apparently birmingham are providing the printing of the patches at their store..arsenal..not yet.. doh.gif

Anyway hopefully we will get the 3 points against Wolves and the 'desired' result for the Manchester derby for an Arsenal supporter POV biggrin.gif

Goals scored apart...Hopefully i will be able to do the assist and disciplinary records on next thread. Can I know what do you mean by matches played btw? Do you mean appearances?

I was thinking more of how long period of time in term of minutes each player gets per match, and total up in a season according to BPL, FA, League cup, and CL. From here, we can have stats of contribution cross linked with number of goals, assist, cards etc.
I can do this in an excel sheet, but it will require time.

QUOTE(Dashken @ Feb 8 2011, 04:46 PM)
Yes, thanks for that. But i would like to separate playing time in term of minutes.

And do anyone here able to provide me a/afew reliable source of such database especially player's assist. stats? I got one from Arsenal mania http://arsenal-mania.com/fixtures/statistics/players but it doesn't look correct (on Chamakh's stats alone 34 app with 13 goals?)

Arsene Wenger sets Samir Nasri and Thomas Vermaelen injury return date

QUOTE
On Friday, Wenger said:

[Samir Nasri] is continuing his progress, difficult to make an assessment at the moment. I would say he should be fit in one week. No, [not to start training], he is training already, [it's] to be competitive, to play.

When [Thomas Vermaelen] is fit certainly we’ll play him in the Reserve team. [But] not before two or three weeks. You never know until he is completely fit to play again but we are hopeful [he is progressing well].

He feels he is over the problem but he played his last game in September and we are in February so it will take some time to come back to match fitness.

[Johan] Djourou is fit. Diaby has a problem but anyway he is suspended. Denilson is available. Rosicky has a groin problem coming back from the Czech Republic so he is not involved but Denilson is coming back. The rest of the squad will be the same as Newcastle. Cesc and Van Persie will both be playing.

Samir Nasri will definitely be back for 2nd leg of CL and final of Carling Cup.

Hopefully TV will also make it back by then or at least in the bench.

This month really lots of trophy at stakes.

Hmm..with a race track it might be far away from action.. biggrin.gif Personally I prefer West Ham winning the bid because at least 1) the stadium won't be demolished 2)there wont be a cock-erel on top of the stadium 3)they can continue to live under our shadows and release dvds when they defeat/drew with us thumbup.gif and apparently reducing it to 60k is for the maintainence cost..+you could not imagine West Ham filling 80k ppl a week sweat.gif Even the original plan for the Olympic Stadium after the Olympics was reducing it to a ard 25k athletics stadium sweat.gif Maybe the Brit govt r poor liao, till the extend have to rise VAT and tuition fees for home student thumbup.gif

For the Manchester Derby, I would prefer a 0-0 draw..since City is quite near behind us..1 point diff(despite we playing 1 game less) biggrin.gif And after that, lets wish our team will get the 3 points and don't perform any stunts on us liao..

yup, a nil-nil draw would be awesome... tho i dont mind city winning, since they played a game more than both us and manu.

a bit wary of the giant killers today... am hoping arshavin and walcott turn on the style on the flanks... and no more drama in the midfield, please.

0-0 scoreline should be an ideal result for us but if Howard Webb is the referee tonight then it is 3 pts for ManU confirmed.

90" still scoreless? Then it's gonna be 8mins extra time.

i can't contain myself anymore, Wayne Rooney is an invisible man right now and for past few matches, it isn't good for a main striker to be invisible. Not worth his 200k pound a week.

hahaha, baru kutuk dia dh score! cantik pulak tu.

Dzeko had been very average in Premier League . TBH , Chamakh did better job than him when he just started his career here .

Nonetheless , we have our game to play .

Team to play Wolves: Szczesny, Sagna, Djourou, Koscielny, Clichy, Wilshere, Song, Fabregas, Walcott, Arshavin, Van Persie

+1 Credits is that at least they put up a fight. If against arsenal, they used parking bus tactic. That wont work in OT bcoz offside call will be denied.

because they know very well that their team is not as good as us but still win games because of bias referee decisions. if their team is genuinely good why feel the need to spy on what other fans say and get butthurt so easily of the truth ? if its not true then why care so much.

arsenal playing really well today. too bad we didnt convert those chances we had into goals. 2-0 up without the help of the referee and playing beautiful football at the same time. if only FA were to be more appreciative of the way the beautiful game is supposed to be played, we would be on top of the table now. sad...

Yeah, but their goalkeeper should been given the credits too, he made pretty good positioning. Hope RVP is ok, that tackle sent RVP to Flying Dutchman mode, I almost jizz on my pants.

A win is a win. You expect every game we gonna thrash opponent for 5-0/6-0? C'mon dude, be reasonable. Arsenal fans are hard to please. They rant even when we won.

How can not Arshavin win the penalty if rosicky concede the 2nd last week?

Wilshere is right. Inconsistent referee is killing the game. Thanks god wilshere is English as well tongue.gif

a win is good enough regardless whether 2-0 or 6-0.

pray all the players are well & fit for wednesday and subsequent matches.

Unlucky for Cesc, Walcott & Arshavin as their shots all kena saved by Wolves gk.

very annoyed with the commentors who kept saying that the 2nd goal was offside.
