There was a time where i visited a small pet shop at Sri Petaling. I saw the maid, Indon, grooming a Shih Tzu, with the head covered and tied with a cloth. The Shih Tzu was struggling, the maid stand beside the grooming table, wait till the shih tzu stop struggling, then only she tried to remove the cloth, once the shih tzu start moving, she put the cloth back.

I asked the shop owner, why you cover the Shih Tzu's head, she said, it's usual. Because if not, it'll bite. I said, no it won't. She said, she has been doing this for many years.

I'm a new dog owner, i'm not sure how they handle dogs. And at the same time, the Shih Tzu owner arrived, and saw the scenario, but they said nothing, so i was thinking, maybe it's normal.

Guys, do you think this is normal?

This is a review of my recent personal experience with a dog groomer at the Animal Poly Clinic or Poliklinik Haiwan on Old Klang Road next to Papparich 3rd sq mile. It is a vet which also has grooming facilities. I take my little shih tzu there for her grooming, annual boosters and also to get vitamins and treats. The resident vet, a young lady doctor, is good and competent with good assistants as well.

I felt the key groomer, a lady in her 30s, was always also very efficient and grooms very well. However 2 weeks ago, when I took my dog for her regular 2mth haircut, the groomer was a bit rushed and impatient and just nodded at my usual instruction, which is to do usual puppy cut and leave a cm around entire body, 2cm on legs. When I came 3 hours later, I found my dog was "ready" but hair was hardly cut. Apparently the groomer cut 1cm off whole body (which honestly makes no difference if you are familiar with shih tzus) instead of leaving 1cm on.

So I informed groomer it was to leave a cm on, and I am ok to wait a while as was not rushing. Though I was smiling and understood how it could have happened on a busy day, the groomer looked grumpy and irritated, and just started shaving my little dog. As usual, I had to hide and peep occasionally as dogs tend to get excited if they can see the owner.

Suddenly I saw the groomer YANK my darling's tail very hard to jerk her back when she was trying to walk forward. I couldn't believe it, so I stepped towards the glass. My dog started standing against the glass at me and shockingly the groomer just grabbed both her hind legs and yanked back causing my dear dog to collapse on her front legs. The groomer then saw me and motioned me away so I stepped back into the corner.

Then about 2 minutes later, while this lady groomer was trimming my darling's face, my shih tzu was doing the usual head motions, I watched in stunned horror as this woman snapped out something and suddenly just jerked her forward by like 1foot distance, by the grip she had on my dog's jaw. I felt it was pure cruelty and meant to hurt and punish the dog. It was completely unnecessary, all you need is a firm grip.

I immediately stepped towards the glass and this groomer quickly gave me a smile and signaled if I was ok with the face length. As I had already paid at the counter, I simply entered the room, ignored her, picked up my darling and just walked out. I cannot believe what my beloved dog had to suffer in that few minutes and dread to imagine how many times she may had endured this if this lady groomer had been in foul moods before and the owner is not around. There are other groomers in the place, an elderly lady and two younger ones. I dont know why she isnt embarassed to mistreat animals in the presence of her peers.

Anyway my little shihtzu is well and happy and seem no worse for wear and I willl not leave her in the hands of this place again, regardless if they claim this will never happen again.

[FONT=Arial]Hi all.

I am sharing an unpleasant pet grooming experience at [SIZE=14]Pet's Nanny Grooming and Boarding Service, Taipan, USJ 10/1G (upstairs floor from Veterinar Mayo Clinic Taipan USJ.
[SIZE=7]

Address of the grooming center: 11A-2 JALAN USJ 10/1G, 47620 Subang Jaya
Contact number of grooming center: 012-334 3089
Facebook page of grooming center:
Facebook page of said grooming center

Yesterday we dropped off our 11 month old male Shih Tzu at this particular pet grooming center for grooming. We communicated that we would like our pet's fur trimmed and cut (our Shih Tzu's fur around the eyes especially was quite long due to an overdue haircut arising from this lockdown period during MCO).

When our Shih Tzu was picked up, the female groomer at Pet's Nanny's Grooming and Boarding Services Taipan USJ had SHAVED OFF OUR SHIH TZU'S FUR IN ITS ENTIRETY. Fur from his entire face was SHAVED OFF. Fur from his entire body WAS ALSO SHAVED OFF.
His whole face and body were entirely BARE. It was like somebody performed bikini wax ALL OVER our Shih Tzu's FACE and BODY. The beautiful "Chrysanthemum" crown around our Shih Tzu's nose and mouth was GONE. Everything was SHAVED. What was left was hair from his ears and his tail (hair from tail was cut thin).

The purpose of a grooming session is to trim and cut the pet's overgrown hair so that it is tidy and neat. The fur coat on the body would be shaved thinner and then cut and trimmed into shape. This does not mean SHAVE EVERYTHING TILL THERE'S NO FUR LEFT. It would be different if we had requested for his fur to be shaved. We however DID NOT ASK FOR OUR SHIH TZU'S FUR TO BE SHAVED OFF. The cut is choppy at some areas too.

I was not there when our Shih Tzu was picked up. I called them up to voice my displeasure over the whole experience. But what done is done. No amount of complaints can undo this whole situation.

Our Shih Tzu's fur on his body is so non-existent now that we can see the pinkish tone of his skin. Dogs usually do scratch their body/leg/ear/face from time to time. This would be no problem if he had his NORMAL FUR. However, due to the now bare skin, our Shih Tzu's face has become reddish on one side from the scratching. We will continue to monitor if there are any red patches that come up.

I wonder if these pet groomers have any knowledge when it comes to grooming. Why the heck are they grooming Shih Tzus the same way as they do Chihuahuas? Don't they know that a Shih Tzu's distinct characteristic is their majestic and beautiful fur? So far in real life and on social media, never have I once seen a Shih Tzu which is SHAVED from head to toe. These pet stores just want to make a quick buck with as little effort as possible. Shaving of course is easier than the painstaking process of cutting and trimming a Shih Tzu's hair.

This incident really angers me. If you ever come across my post, please think twice before sending your pet for grooming at PET NANNY'S GROOMING AND BOARDING SERVICES @ TAIPAN USJ (USJ 10/1G). One member on this thread also shared that LEE PET SUPPLY is another shop to AVOID. His yorkie got INJURED during a grooming session.
One pet shop that you could perhaps try is MyPet (next to 7 Eleven Taipan). We have used their service before and the service was acceptable.

Stay safe everyone.

Sharing another similar incident that had happened last week with Pet's Nanny Grooming and Boarding Service, Taipan, USJ 10/1G (upstairs floor from Veterinar Mayo Clinic Taipan USJ).

Similar incident happened to me but it's to my cat. I have frequently send my cat for grooming to this shop before MCO and it is the usual instruction for which I have very clearly instructed the groomers to have my cat's fur to be short and neat. I am not sure which part of cut short do they not understand which has resulted my cat to undergo a so called 'LION-CUT' which I DID NOT even request for.

Upon asking for further explanation with the owner of this shop, Ms Lim was very defensive saying that I have requested to cut short. Her definition of short is literally shaving all my cat's fur off and this wasn't even something that I requested for. I am not sure if this is some kind of a cheap tactic that they are starting to use on customers after lockdown just to get you to pay EXTRA for this service which customer did not even request for.

When being confronted, she spin the story again to tell me that it was already half way done by the time she checked as it was not her that groom my cat, it was her SON. She is trying to push the blame to someone else. I told her it doesn't matter who does the grooming but why wasn't the instruction being followed. This is where I flipped, she then claimed that my cat has fleas and if so why spend so much time to style my cat with the lion look? And she even has the nerve to tell me that the fur will grow back quickly.

I must say that this will be my LAST ever visit to this DISHONEST shop owner, not taking any ownership or responsible with the fact that this is indeed their mistake.

SO GUYS, PLEASE BEWARE IF YOU SEND YOUR PET FOR GROOMING SERVICE TO THIS SHOP, YOU WILL BE SURPRISE HOW YOUR PET WILL TURN OUT TO BE.
I left my google review this morning and immediately there is another good rating review trying to push up the rating.

PET NANNY'S GROOMING AND BOARDING SERVICES @ TAIPAN USJ (USJ 10/1G) ---> Think twice before sending
For those who like surprises or extreme make-over without consulting the pet owner after MCO, this place will make that happen for you.
