Another thing I like about Flagship:

When I was with Doc or Darky, while replying a thread in the lowyat forum, the screen kept scrolling upwards until I can't see the text I type.

In Flagship, don't have this issue.

You are right, when we type in the thread it always keep scrooling upward. One way I solved this is by select the few word before and select the last word and  continue. Very annoying.
*
Wow, then I must give flagship a try. Upward scrolling is very annoying indeed.
I swipe the swype symbol to sym to get directional keys so that I can move the cursor down.

Was stucked at the exclamation mark n phone symbol. Panicked and heart was pounding, was already thinking of making the jig the next thing tomoro morning. Solved it by turning odin off and on, remove battery wait for 10 seconds, hold the 3 combo buttons together while pluggin in the usb cable. Phew  sweat.gif

The problem started when i checked the Re-Partition box n the whole process halted. Unchecked it on the second attempt and wa-laa  thumbup.gif
*
wow lucky. this is why I try to avoid odin as much as possible. CWM is way safer.

it's already mention not to simple use the re-partition option. Been flashing with Odin for ages and still haven encounter anything smile.gif. anything regarding flashing, nothing is safe. It's more of a risk brows.gif
*
Yup. although the bootloader is very small, if there is power cut during that split-second of transferring that file during flashing, you'd get a bricked phone. At least with cwm, there's no risk of power cut, forgetting about repartition and whats not.

hi, i'm totally new here, just got myself a I9000.

b4 that i used a X10, now i got 2 android in my hand.

but totally clueless with i9000 operating.

where should i start with? i check the phone, it's running froyo, but quadrant show me 900+ only...
*
Play around with touchwiz more. Also, ignore quadrant score. It is useless for hummingbird chip used in galaxy s.

Because samsung is noob at software side. Community efforts give better custom roms and kernel.

Owh ok sorry, I thought that app still has a trial version like I downloaded way back then smile.gif

To me, the different photo effects are just gimmicks. Certainly not for me but I know a lot of people like them. Can try vignette demo too. Similar to camera 360.

I believe darky has a website that show clear step by step instructions and video on how to flash it. Try looking for it. Be patient, maybe the pro here are still typing a reply for you. I'm posting from the phone so it will be a bit hassle to properly compile a response to your query. Cheers, happy hunting!

Speedmod makes a world difference in speed and responsiveness.

Before flashing you need to make sure that you have 3 button combo working. Recovery and Download mode. For download mode, Shutdown phone, hold vol down+ home button + power button. For recovery, hold up volume button instead of down. This will save a lot of headache later if you brick your phone. Yes, flashing is a dangerous process see here for 3 button combo info- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=886000

Darky cwm version is available here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=814091

oh, i guess i used the wrong term. to manually upgrade to froyo, is flashing, right? this will erase data?
*
If using kies to upgrade is flashing too. But If upgrade manually, it will erase data. If you want to make a backup of your data and apps, you need Titanium Backup and need to be rooted.

Hey guise. If I'd wanna unroot my phone, and beforehand I've rooted it using the option in CWM, can I use the superoneclick? OR is there a way to unroot the phone through CWM? Thanks. smile.gif
*
Not sure if using superoneclick. But see this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=728754 Under the manual method, I opened the update.zip file and it basically do the following:
- delete /system/app/Superuser.apk
- /system/xbin/su
- /system/xbin/busybox

This is complete unroot. samsung repair centre won't know you've rooted before.

Ha.... so low usage also amazing ???

I thought SGS itself stated standby time can last 31days?? (from GSMARENA)
-Darky Rom
-Stock
-No livewallpaper
-Got vibration
-No BLN
- Circular battery, Task killer, SAP, software update , SNS, OmaDrmConfig, Google Messaging service and swype...
Update:

96% since unplugged

15% Remaining

5d 4h 20m 15s

Cell standby 40% (5d 4h 20m 5s)

Display 39% (1h 21m 4s)

Phone idle 20% (5d 2h 59m 11s)

Voice calls  3% (7m 10s) <-- Forever Alone...
Fiddled around with the phone today ... surf some web awhile and SMS ....
*
never believe what samsung say about standby time. I got a little less than 1%/hour drain. That should give me 4days and few hours (96 hours). I have the same settings as you except that i'm on insanity 0.5.3 with speedmod 13b and jumba NeonGt theme

I'm happy when I can get past 24 hours on moderate usage. If I want long standby time, I'd get myself a nokia 3310.

wat is BLN?

I9000 user for second day, still blur on the jargon used over here.
*
Backlight notification. Since there's no LED in galaxy s, you have two options for light notifications:

1. Install NoLed from market. This uses the screen to notify incoming emails, gtalk, sms, missed calls https://market.android.com/details?id=com.l...e=search_result
2. Get BLN. But need supported kernels such as speedmod. Flash that first and then download BLN conrol app https://market.android.com/details?id=nelda...e=search_result

ic, thanks for the information......currently i used the i9000 without simcard yet....try to familiar with it then only plug my simcard in...

i've do some reading abt kernel....

"To get the best speed, it is recommended that you enable all Tweaks from the Recovery Menu. Tweaks are under SpeedMod features."

how to enable all the tweaks? how to check if it's enable?

if i'm using darky 9.2 now, can i use it?

and how to know if already enable the lagfix?
*
those are tweaks for the custom kernel. To enable,
- go to recovery mode (shutdown, hold vol up+home+power button)
- once in the recovery mode (green interface now), use volume up and down for directional and back button to select.
- can see if tweaks are enabled when you go to tweak menu. select all the recommended ® ones.

If using darkyy, it is recommended to disable voodoo lagfix (if you have it enabled) first. Then download and flash the latest speedmod kernel.

sunnyboy - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=813309 Here you go for tweaks if you're on speedmod, which I think you are smile.gif

I'm having 1day and 10 hrs of battery life, calls about 20 mins, mostly sms for both days, wifi off and on, and mostly on edge, will turn on hsdpa for youtube only(about 30 mins on wifi, x amount of online data lol no idea). I've turned off my phone, can't get the screenshot anymore sad.gif. Off for a new reacharge, and will update for batttery life. Currently stock on speedmod 13b. But extra long usage won't do good if you're not using the phone too smile.gif.
*
I think better to go to recovery mode to enable the tweaks rather than making the startup script. Easier.

I agree, no use of smartphone if you utilise to the full potential. However, long battery tips is helpful when you are away from power source. Like going to camping or kampung no electricity smile.gif

I think with a full 100% and slightly overcharge... can last you 4hrs of gaming time gua..
Im going to do a test when im free... that is fully charge it to 100% ... and play one of the game i installed non stop till the battery drop to 10% .. and see how long it lasted  brows.gif
