If you are referring to JinXXX's vlan-trunk with RB750+RB250GS, I doubt you can replace the RB750 with RT-N56 as it does not have the feature to tag both vlans over a physical port.

On whether can replace the TM's DIR-615 with RB250GS, not sure, you have to find whether it has the feature to untag both vlans from a physical port.

The RB250G it's just a vlan tag/untag device, it's not a router gateway, I doubt you can setup PPPoE session on it.

Hi klseet,

I am planning to have the similar network as JinXXX but for the down stair I would like to replace the RB250GS with DD-WRT running on WRT54G/GS/GL (this WRT will not run as Wireless AP with VLAN tagging/trunking of VLAN1 & VLAN600).

Added on January 6, 2012, 6:44 pmUpdate...

I am able to achieve the following using Mikrotik RB751U-2HnD (PPPoE client) and Linksys WRT54GSv4 (with IPTV). I put the Mikrtotik RB751U-2HnD upstair where my BTU is installed and Linksys WRT54GSv4 downstair. Both Mikrotik RB751U-2HnD and Linksys WRT54GSv4 is connected using TP-Link Homeplug.

At upstair I have PC connect to Mikrotik RB751U-2HnD via wired and notebook connect via wireless.

At downstair I have media server connect to Linksys WRT54GSv4 via wired as well as UniFi IPTV and notebook connect to wireless.

My simply diagram as below: -

UniFi BTU Connect to Mikrotik [Port1] --- Mikrotik RB751U-2HnD ~ Connect to BTU [Port1] ~ PC [Port2 to 4] ~ Trunk [Port5] --- [Homeplug] --- Linksys WRT54GSv4 --- Trunk [Port1] ~ PC [Port2 & 3] ~ IPTV [Port4]

I will be sharing the complete setup. rclxm9.gif

Does it mean when trunk down from Mikrotik, we need to use VLAN500 & 600 for connection to BTU as required by Unifi

My question can it use VLAN 1-15 range for vlan trunk from Mikrotik to WRT610nv2 ddwrt router?

Sure.. Just bridge vlan 600 to said vlan 2.. Than trunk vlan 1 & 2 down to WRT610nv2.

Hi Guys,

I know this topic is a lil old. But I got to share some of my crazy findings.

During the weekend, I pulled out my STB which I have not touch before since UniFi is being installed (for almost a year).
I wanted to find out what is in store for the HyppTV, So out of itchiness and curiosity I read your posts and found some idea to play around with the STB.

This is my current home setup

Attached Image

HyppTV worked! *But on conditions sweat.gif blush.gif

1. Let HyppTV run before plugging in the Internet connection LAN cable from PfSense to the Switch.
2. Keep HyppTV on at all times, to retain the IP address given by the DIR-615 VLAN 600 (IP is 10.x.x.x).
3. Both Internet and HyppTV can work along side, even without any additional Managed VLAN switch in the room.

Forgot to mention that the DIR-615 from TM is configured to run on VLAN Bridge as thought by Rizvanrp, sourced from KLseet.com (THANK YOU!!!)

My next idea of upgrade would be to get another Managed VLAN Switch for my room, so I can separate the VLAN 600 out from the switch, so I do not have to unplug the LAN cable from PfSense before turning on HyppTV STB. biggrin.gif

Hi guys,

I am also trying to setup this configuration (1 ethernet port having VLAN500 & VLAN600), but unsuccessful. I am trying to set it to port 4 (instead of port 5). Problem is i am not getting an IP address on port 4.

Port 4 is connected to an Asus rtn13 router (has been config to NO PPOE and use automatic IP from WAN). Please see my attached screenshots and advise.

thanks

Maybe I was confused with this picture, https://forum.lowyat.net/uploads/attach-97/...-1296103466.gif

I thought by setting the bridge to DHCP server, I would get an IP address over the bridge (and also Port4 as it is on the bridge ).

So, are you saying I won't be getting an IP address on Port4 from Mikrotik ?
I need to set a static IP on my Asus (e.g. 192.168.88.100) ?

I tried that but I couldn't get internet access after that. Here's my settings on Asus.

I am using Mikrotik as router (this is connected to Unifi).

The Asus RT13 is connected to the Mikrotik router. It is to extend internet + IPTV to another location.

I am trying to setup pretty much what you have here :
https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?act=Atta...post&id=2017663

So, the Mikrotik will have its own network (lets say DHCP 192.168.88.x) and Asus will have its own network (let's say DHCP 192.168.1.x). Asus WAN connects to Mikrotik ethernet port with fixed IP (e.g. 192.168.88.2). When I setup like this, i am able to access internet on the Asus.

As for IPTV, that's a question on how to setup.
