Guys my HD381 right side rosak already sad.gif (wire broken away from the earpiece) less than 4 months old only. Since this is my very first in-ear headphones, I wonder if all these kind of phones rosak so easily? I wonder if it worth it to get it rewire or  just buy a new better build in-ear phone. I am using it at the office so can't use those full headphone, later my boss make sour face.. smile.gif... Thanks...
*
I never touched a HD381 before so I can't say if its build quality is poorer than average. Anyway, at RM59, recabling may be more expensive than that IIRC.

I do often hear/see people complain one side no sound and such on IEMs/earbuds; so I would say that IEM/earbuds cables are easily destroyed if not handled properly. Example would be like taking out the IEM from your ear by pulling the cable instead of holding the body and whatnot.

for dis brand, which one i need to use a headphone amp to drive? im driving it wif my lappy, vostro 3750 n i wanna avoid head phone amp
*
That would be 440, 330 and 660. 651, 681, 668B and 669 should be fine from laptop out. I've been told that 668B and 669 would be much better with an amp though.

planning to try it on first to make sure its a good purchase

Jaben is the nearest physical store(Subang SS15) with a couple of superlux; but they're for audition only. Also, I'm not sure which model that they have. I've only seen 668B there b4.

And then we have TT sessions.

If you typed 'jaben subang' at maps.google.com, you'll get it's address already. wink.gif

They carry lots of stuffs. Here's the link to their sales thread, just to give you an idea on what they have.

p/s: Just in case if you frequently drops by at penang, jaben just opened a store there.

Guys, planning to get Superlux headphone, I targeted HD668B but I'm curious if HD330 and other headphone might sound much better than HD668B? I usually listen to various genres of songs, so balanced sound would be best for me. Any recommendation?
*
A review @ headfonia mentioned that HD330 is better sounding than 668B. Keep in mind that 330 would need an amp; unlike 668B.

not planning to buy an amp, unless there's a affordable one. From what I see, lots of forumer here using HD668B compared to HD330. But for HD668B, can use DIY cable that might improve the sound quality. I need more suggestion on this.  hmm.gif
*
Is RM230+- affordable? Fiio E11 and JDS Labs BB Cmoy.

668B is said to improve a lot with an amp; and while I'd suggest you to buy a 668B first and an amp later if you feel the need, I can't say for sure if it's a better choice cuz whether to go for 330 or 668B largely depends on you sound preference. I haven't tried 330 so I can't say much anyway. It would be great if you can test them. I know jaben have a couple of superlux; but I don't know if they have 330 or not and I'd certainly feel bad if I audit the phones w/o buying anything.

p/s: While a good source (a good sound card, DAC, media player etc) is always important for a good SQ, the need for a good source is even more significant when you use an amp. Loud hiss is one of the possible outcomes when you use an amp with a bad source.

Thanks for you fast reply, I do have a wolfson WM8501 usb DAC, and planning to get Fiio E11 if possible, can I use both of them together? About JDS Labs Cmoy, is it rechargeable or have to replace the 9v battery? Now I'm still thinking of either HD330 or HD668B.  sweat.gif
*
Ur welcome. smile.gif chchyong89's dac is it? You can use them together but how it sounds etc is beyond me as I don't have them.

Stock cMoyBB supports adapter use @ battery only use. You can use rechargeable 9V battery, but you'll need a charger as stock cMoyBB doesn't charge your battery. If you want a charge function on the cMoyBB, you'd need to buy its charge kit. This could help you in deciding between E11 and cMoyBB.

As for 330 vs 668B; at this rate, either someone who tried both 330 and 668B comes and help or you would have to depend on reviews(maybe google got more reviews). I'm guessing trio have listened to both. Try PM him but since he said he is busy, it could take a while..

p/s: Also, consider if you ever want to use the headphone w/ portable players. For example, I use my 668B + C30 while moving around the house quite often. If you're going to do this with a 330 and w/o a decent portable, even a head-amp couldn't help much. (hiss problem etc)

@our_team89
I don't remember seeing anyone complains about 681's comfort. IIRC, hellfire8888 compliments on how comfortable it's compared to the 668B.

If you ask me, I can use tissue modded 668B while wearing my glasses for a couple of hours (max 3 hours I think) before I start feeling uncomfortable. If w/o my glasses, I could even sleep with it. So 681 shouldn't pose a problem. (I hope. tongue.gif)

That aside, trio have all listed except for 662. You can search the sales thread for other sellers if you want to.

W/ 3 broken soundmagics, I imagine your 381 not gonna last long. sweat.gif No offense really, it's just that I don't think their build quality is that far from each other.

IINM, there are only 3 users reports that their 381 is broken. This is one of them..

p/s: Since I've seen a lot of users doing this, might as well say it. Do not pull on the cord to remove it from the jack or the ear..

Hi, first of all i say hi all of you cuz i'm new in this forum. xD

Now, i'm interested in superlux audiophiles but I'm not sure which ones are beter between HD668B and HD660.

I'd use them for games, films and some music.

Which ones do you think has better quality sound for that uses???

Thanks. smile.gif
*
660 should be better, but you'll need to buy an amp for it AFAIK.

Maybe you can consider 681. 668B is the one I prefer, but I've seen a lot recommends 681 as the better one 'cuz it's more engaging@lively or something, due to more bass & treble.

A little more on 668B vs 681
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

p/s: It's up to your taste. If you browse through this thread alone, you'll see that some prefers 668B while some prefers 681.

@creative zn
Same answer; the best headphone will be the one that strikes your fancy. Technically the 440, 330 and 660 should be the better ones, and even between them, your sonic preference would tell which one is better for you..

thanks man. btw, im only pair it with my phone. so which one is the best since got some review that said some model like 660 will shine if use with amp.

330 seem great, but lotsa superflux user here use 669(8)b/681 and samron. why?  sweat.gif
*
Could be one(or a combo) of these:
- We don't have a head-amp. 330/440/660 needs one.
- 681/668B/699 are the cheaper ones and doesn't need a head-amp. Though an amp is said to give a significant boost for 668B. (probably also true for 681/699, but I don't remember reading any claims)
- Samson SR850 is said to be a better sounding 668B plus the comfort of 681.
- All the rave on 688B; but rarely(or perhaps less reviews) on others.
- 669 arrived at lyn later than 668B. Probably another reason why 668B is more common here.
- 669 have the potential to be better than 668B, but again, it's up to your taste. It's supposedly just a 668B w/ a closed back instead of semi-open.
- 669 is supposedly better than 668B, but the fact that it's sensitive to setup is kinda a turn off for me, cuz I don't want to worry much about pairing @ synergy issues.

All that aside, 681/668B/669/Samson should run well w/o an amp. But not sure about your phone lar. Some phone is weaker than others.

thanks dude.

That's about right. Though what I've in mind is 669 >= Samson SR850 >= 668B > 681. tongue.gif

@doomx
AFAIK, most of us didn't get one. laugh.gif Bro islubio bought one(this one) from taobao. There's a lot of taobao agents at bulk orders that can order one for you.

@nordingh
That's surprising, cuz 668B can be driven straight from my C30. With the same 56 ohm and supposedly the same driver and all, I thought it should be fine. Besides, Hitman66 did an impression on 669 w/ it plugged straight to his onboard sound card. rclxub.gif
The lack of bass in 669 may be its sensitivity to setup at work. Then again no one said 669 got big bass to begin with. tongue.gif (But it should have more than 668B)

Based on pics, 660 pads are the type where the surface will be torn off after a short while. Need to change to Beyer velour pads. brows.gif

Sound card volume is higher than Cube la... 669 Rated Impedance: 56 Ω quite high. I going to test again. Cos I only test with few songs, not sure what EQ I use during that test.
*
I see.. Anyway, w/ 668B, I dare not to try whether my on-board sound card or C30 gives more vol. Both can turn me deaf. laugh.gif

668B also 56 ohm btw..

EDIT: So it's the song.. smile.gif
