Hi,

Can anyone recommend me a good milk powder brand?

My baby going to be 6months in 2 weeks and he is on NAN at present. But he doesn't like it anymore. So I need to switch the FM ASAP.

BTW he doesn't like FM anyway cos he's used to my BM, but I have no choice but to give him FM during day time when he's at the babysitter. I cannot give my EBM milk also cos he don't like. I already tried Lactogen, Dutch Lady, Dumex, and NAN...

Therefore, please recommend some milk powder, which atleast got a little bit taste like BM? (I know that none of the FM can replace the taste and nutrients of BM) but atleast if it tastes little bit like BM I can convice my baby to drink I guess...

BTW my baby is a very fussy little boy cos he only loves mommy's milk (Fresh some more) doh.gif

Thanks

I've seen that brand Snow in the shops.. but I thought there was an issue with that milk powder sometime back? Was it banned or something like that? Not sure

Hi,

You can buy a small tin to test 1st if you r worried that your BB will get heaty. So far my girl is ok with Similac.

You can try feeding water with spoon if your BB really refuse to drink water.

Some comments and personal experience with Similac.

According to a relative, a friend discovered that Similac is one of the most nutritious milk powder in the market. Even better than the popular Enfalac.

We tried feeding our son with it but then the poop came out hard and he cry whenever doing his business. On top of that, the poop is dark green. No blood, doctor checked. Just that it didnt work out for my kid.

My nephews, 3 of them took Similac just fine though. So what work for others may not work for you.

hi,

During confinement I BF my girl. In day time I direct BF, night time my confinement lady will bottle feed BM. So i think becuz of this my BB was get used to bottle feed too, so that she have no prob when I have to start work after 2 months confinement.

My BB start Similac after she's 3 months old when I send her to babysiter due to I have to work. But I still pump out BM and store. Which means my girl is on bottle feed BM and Similac. After she's 4 month+ she's on fully Similac due to I hv no more BM sad.gif

Since you still have BM now, u can actually bottle feed BM and Similac.... slowly let your BB get used to FM.

It's ideal to slowly mix both and change but her baby don't like EBM..so difficult to mix...scared she will sure reject the FM as well.

However, it's always worth trying.

Thanks for the advice. Like Phythia said, my baby doesn't like EBM at all... No matter how hungry he is! Scared to mix and give cos afterwards he might reject the FM as well! doh.gif

So I decided to give the FM according to the normal stardard without mixing... If he likes it I will give it a try mixing EBM (Little bit) and FM.

Hi,

I never tried but I heard Anmum is quite heaty. Very difficult for the baby to poo, but every baby is different so u may try and see.

Anyways, u will have to try few FM brands for baby's likes and any allergic reactions before u can settle with 1 brand.

In terms of milk "Breast Milk" is the BEST and no FM can compare wif that. So if u can pls try to BF your baby...

Thanks for the advice. My wife is had been breast feeding since day 1 up to today is 2weeks+ already.
She say the baby seems to have not enuf of milk during the night, and that makes her tired as she is losing her sleep.
She tried the pump, but it only produces around 10ml after pump for 1 hour.

So she planned to try FM and see if our baby can be satisfied enough to not wake up every 1 hour during the night.
