Hi, Can anyone recommend me a good milk powder brand? My baby going to be 6months in 2 weeks and he is on NAN at present. But he doesn't like it anymore. So I need to switch the FM ASAP. BTW he doesn't like FM anyway cos he's used to my BM, but I have no choice but to give him FM during day time when he's at the babysitter. I cannot give my EBM milk also cos he don't like. I already tried Lactogen, Dutch Lady, Dumex, and NAN... Therefore, please recommend some milk powder, which atleast got a little bit taste like BM? (I know that none of the FM can replace the taste and nutrients of BM) but atleast if it tastes little bit like BM I can convice my baby to drink I guess... BTW my baby is a very fussy little boy cos he only loves mommy's milk (Fresh some more) Thanks

QUOTE(phythia79 @ Jun 27 2011, 04:31 PM) good that your baby loves mommy's fresh milk my colleague said that she gave snow after she stopped bf (after fully bf for 6 months) as she said it sort of like BM (i'm not sure coz i did try giving to my son about 3 months back..but he doesn't like it abit. Now he's on Dutch Lady 123). Yeah good that my baby loves my BM but unfortunately I'm not at home since I work full time. By the time I go hom it's past 7pm already... I've seen that brand Snow in the shops.. but I thought there was an issue with that milk powder sometime back? Was it banned or something like that? Not sure

QUOTE(moonstar @ Jun 28 2011, 02:10 PM) hi, my BB is on Similac till she's 1 year. Similac is tasteless, and its not sweet, which i think is good for BB below 1 year my girl is now 21months and she's on Gain Plus. She's 12kg now & she never get fever before (TOUCH WOOD!!) Added on June 28, 2011, 2:14 pmhi, BM is not much taste, I am not sure about yours....hehe I fed my girl BM for the 1st 4 months and then i give her Similac till she's 1 year, she is fine with it FYI, Similac is tasteless & not sweet Hi, Thanks a lot... I wanted to give my baby similac, but not sure if it's too heaty? cos my baby doesn't like to drink water also. I try to give him water with a little bit of Glucolin cos sweet, but he don't like that also

QUOTE(moonstar @ Jun 29 2011, 09:52 AM) Hi, You can buy a small tin to test 1st if you r worried that your BB will get heaty. So far my girl is ok with Similac. You can try feeding water with spoon if your BB really refuse to drink water. Hmmm... let me try... BTW when you started giving similac, did u do the change over process slowly (Taking 4 - 5days) or just changed immediately?

QUOTE(moonstar @ Jun 29 2011, 12:45 PM) ya we have to try...i belive when the BB is hungry, they will sure wanto drink....haha Thanks for the advice. Like Phythia said, my baby doesn't like EBM at all... No matter how hungry he is! Scared to mix and give cos afterwards he might reject the FM as well! So I decided to give the FM according to the normal stardard without mixing... If he likes it I will give it a try mixing EBM (Little bit) and FM.

QUOTE(stupidbump @ Aug 11 2011, 01:18 PM) I am trying anmum essential step 1 for my newborn, any comments? Is there a poll for best formula milk ? Hi, I never tried but I heard Anmum is quite heaty. Very difficult for the baby to poo, but every baby is different so u may try and see. Anyways, u will have to try few FM brands for baby's likes and any allergic reactions before u can settle with 1 brand. In terms of milk "Breast Milk" is the BEST and no FM can compare wif that. So if u can pls try to BF your baby...

stupidbump... yes it's quite normal for mommies to have less milk during 1-2weeks after baby is born. Same situ wif me cos I had very little milk and my baby also used to be awake most of the time through the night. but don't worry, after 2motnhs or so, u r wife will have more milk and thus baby will tend to sleep longer during the night.
Believe me, my baby was lower than his birth weight when he was 2 weeks due to less intake of milk, but I never gave up. Luckily I have enuf milk to feed my baby now... Unfortunately I had to giv FM to my baby at 2 motnhs when I send him to Babysitter cos he refused to take EBM when I returned to work... sigh...
We're all there to support u & ur wife so don't worry... Don't introduce FM now itself cos baby might get used to FM and might not take BM anymore due to nipple confusion, and also the bottle nipple is easy to suck than mummy's one.
BTW one time my milk supply dropped, phythia adviced to take fenugreek tea, which I tried and it really worked for me... Maybe ur wife can try that?
