That's a great combo but then I'm limited with just a 50mm range to shoot with. And FX lens cost a lot compared to DX. Any suggestions? 

Yeah, getting the d700 is tempting, but it will take me another 2 years before i'll save enough money to buy another FX lens. HAHAHAHA.

How about shooting landscape in low lights? Coz flash won't really help in that case...

and overall would you recommend the lens? And do you think the VC is necessary?

sigh ... my Sigma 50mm f/1.4 got back focus issue with manual or auto focus when set any aperture lower than f/4 ... its less than 1 month old ... now i cant use it for chinese new year cos their service center is closed already ...   

i tried the nikkor 50mm f/1.4G but didnt like the focus speed ...  sigh ...

Then how the lens focus ?

You guys actually take stop watch to compare the speed of focusing ?
C'mon get a life. Fast or slow, does it really matter much ? And as if you're shooting sport with that bloody 50mm

Yeah, no one would give a damn if that 50mm is selling RM9.90. Unfortunately it is not and the price is about 1500++. For that kinda price I don't see any harm in criticizing or being little harsh in demanding a good product. 1500++ is not a small amount to most of us and of course we want very buck well spend.

Sorry, no offense but I just can't help myself giggle at those keep on complaining on the micro second slow focusing speed which actually means nothing when you're not shooting sports !

Well. it is misleading actually. not because of prime you don't need to care about focusing speed. but because of its purpose.
since what we mention earlier was 50mm. which it's purpose is for portraiture focusing speed is actually not a necessity in this case.

however if we do talk about 200mm prime or above which meant for sport. focusing speed take a big part.
as I know from ken rock well website.
most of the sport photographer jump ship to canon on 70s/80s because Nikon focusing motor has a flaw.

and again those sport photographer didn' jump ship back to nikon because Canon and Nikon is compareable nowadays.
Therefore they have no reason to sell all their gears and jump ship.

IDK why. but for me 1870 is a very great lens with maximum 4.5 aperture even on 70mm.
IQ wise I think it is better since it is better compared to 1855  KTCY (said this one to me )

I have question.
if let say I found my camera has a good ISO control.
as it doesn't show any noise at ISO 3200.
what makes I need to use ISO 100?

for example I can shoot something with 1/200s shutter 3200 ISO. which is convenient.
in what situation I shouldn't bump my ISO into ISO 3200 instead lower it down into ISO 100/200 with 1/20s shutter speed which is less convenient.

Knowing ISO 3200 doesn't give me noise.
will that make difference?
