Nikon D7000 Firmware Ver 1.01 released, anyone has updated their D7k?

Dude that is so 1970s! laugh.gif
All D7000 selling at the market now comes with the new firmware and I think those first batch that has hot pixels issue would definitely has updated to the new firmware. nod.gif

D700 + 50mm f/1.4 (Nikon G or Sigma).
*
That's a great combo but then I'm limited with just a 50mm range to shoot with. And FX lens cost a lot compared to DX. Any suggestions? icon_rolleyes.gif

with RM8k can get D7k with 85mm f/1.4G ...    brows.gif
*
Is it? drool.gif
But then I have to stand so far back for street photography and everytime I have to stick my butt to the wall for indoors. laugh.gif

If I get d7000, what lens would you recommend? Don't shoot sports and birds so I don't really need telephoto lens.

Have you use the Tammy 17-50 before? It's much cheaper than the Siggy but I hate lens that hunt in low light. I'll get so frustrated when some 1.5k thing cannot focus while my girlfriend's S95 ace it 99% of the time. HAHA.

1750 hunts way more frequently compared to a 2470 nikkor. If in a condition where the 2470 hunts, I doubt the 1750 can get a lock on at all.
*
Yeah, I understand if a lens hunts once in a while in low light but if it hunts 4-5 times out of 10 don't you feel cheated and wanna smash it on the ground? It's 1500 not 150 the lens! LOL!

Well, so Sigma 17-50+50 1.4D or Siggy17-50+55-300 DX VR F4.5-5.6G+50 1.8D? rclxm9.gif
1.4D and the 1.8D in terms of background blur which one is easier to get it done?

I will get 50mm 1.4g nikkor for my dx body

if i got 8k , i sure will get d700+50mm 1.4g , or d700+85mm 1.4d  , 50mm nikkor is light same 35mm on dx body .

But since you say fx lens cost more than DX , i think u go choose DX body better? haha laugh.gif
*
Yeah, getting the d700 is tempting, but it will take me another 2 years before i'll save enough money to buy another FX lens. HAHAHAHA. laugh.gif

50mm 1.4g is a very very nice lens ><b

worth every cents
*
But if I were to spend so much on the 1.4G I think i'll just add a few more bucks to get the siggy 1.4, isn't it much better?

Depend on person

For me i prefer nikkor 50mm 1.4g eventhough sigma sharper and better bokeh .

I like lightweight, 50mm 1.4 not so bad , it is very good.
I can carry it anywhere i want , because light
*
Thanks for your suggestions nod.gif
But i got the s95 for lightweight. laugh.gif
got too much money to spare(8k) so wanna get some new toy and are now spoil by choice. doh.gif

yyea, i choose nikkor over sig because of the weight while siggy is very bulky...  brows.gif

as the bokeh... izit that obvious enough to differentiate easily without putting picture from both lens side by side?
*
haha that depends on the user. But with Siggy a noob like me can create nice bokehlicious photo too. laugh.gif rclxm9.gif

Sigma 17-50? The OS version, that's around RM2.4K++
If you don't need to OS, get the 18-50mm for around RM1.6K and it also comes with some Macro capabilities
Or go for Tamron if you need the VC. Without VC, you could save up to another RM500.

Since your zoom lens already covered wide to 50mm, for the prime, you can go for 85mm f/1.8D; It's a nice portrait lens around RM1.5K++
If you want walkabout primes, better go for 35mm f/1.8G DX, or 35mm f/2D
*
Thanks for suggestions. nod.gif
I prefer the Siggy coz it has better AF especially in low light and i think OS is great for shooting landscape and indoors.
85mm are great but isn't it too much for a DX body? I'll probably have to stand so far away that people will always get in between the subject and me. What you think? smile.gif

The Siggy OS version is quite expensive, the price difference can get your a prime lens like 35mm f/1.8G DX; but if you think you need it and worth it, then go for it. You can always try out the lenses at the shop first.

85mm is around 127.5mm on DX body; Yes, the range it's far for DX body especially indoors; The reason I suggested this is because you're getting the zoom which cover the wide to 50mm already. But that depends on you, 50mm f/1.8D is very cheap anyway, hehe  tongue.gif
*
Yeah, gonna try it out in the shop, but was thinking how to do a low light test in a bright camera shop? Will they let you bring the camera to outdoor for testing?

I saw some photos on flickr, the 35mm's bokeh is so so non-existent and that is why I didn't really fancy it. Might as well get the 50's. smile.gif

85mm on crop is tight especially indoors! Been there done that. Got annoyed went to FX.
*
Stupid question for the sake of fun: How far do you need to stand away from your subject to take a full body portrait using the 85mm on a DX? laugh.gif

30feet? 35 feet?

This is about full body I guess, from the EXIF it is

Subject Distance  7.08 m

About 23 feet. Hmm that's less than what I thought. laugh.gif
If it is accurate I think it is an acceptable distance(for DX). Have heard exaggerated numbers on other forums like 30 feet away. vmad.gif

So? Any significance? Most users I think, already know by now that Nikon uses Sony Sensor what?
*
It's more of like Nikon design Sony fabricated, but Nikon doesn't reserve it exclusively for Nikon camera.

End of the day, it's business and nothing to do with Nikon's capabilities in making or designing one.
