I have a UOB PREFERED PLATINUM (since 2009) which I HARDLY USE. Could that be used as a reference to apply for the MBB 2 Platinum cards?

I am thinking of applying the MBB2 Platinum but my regular annual salary is RM51200 & bonus rm4300  and other tax-exempt income > RM30k. I might not qualify if based on my BE form and salary slips.
*
all banks will check your CCRIS report and or other reports and will make their own conclusion. I blur on your statement, you have annual income RM51200+RM4300 > RM30000 for MBB 2 Gold, so why cannot qualify?

From my posting I already stated clearly:

I am thinking of applying MBB2 Platinum which requires annual salary of RM60K to be shown in BE  which cannot include tax-exempted income.

At least Alexwsk understand it.

My salary is RM51200+4300= RM55500 which is < RM60k and is stated in BE form.
The other tax-exempt income of >RM30k does not reflect in BE form.
Got it?
*
OIC, well then very simple, if your tax-exempt is from legalized source e.g. interest from FD and can be proven, then your annual income + your tax excempt income is > RM60K which qualifies you for a Plat Card technically. Please note that annual income does not mean salary only or limited to what is declared in the BE form.

Anyway, what you told the girl on the phone, wait, just so that I not blur again, have you applied for MBB 2 over the phone?

If you have not apply yet, just fill in RM85K in the annual income portion and since your UOB card more than 1 year, no need submit BE form. Don't see any problems for you not getting your MBB 2 Plat unless your CCRIS report is bad. But if MBB call your office, which I doubt they will, to verify then it's a different story.

I have posted this:

I have a UOB PREFERED PLATINUM (since 2009) which I HARDLY USE. Could that be used as a reference to apply for the MBB 2 Platinum cards?

Thats why I am seeking advice here as to whether I can apply MBB2Plat using this.
*
So I guess from above, you have yet to apply for the card. Like I said, just fill RM85K in the annual income portion and don't worry too much. If need to, then just have to give proof to MBB.

FYI, hardly use doesn't mean anything. You can use it once and have bad credit records when you don't make payments or have late payments. So what you got PrefeRRed Plat or Gold Card, the CCRIS report don't mentioned you got Preferred Plat or whatever Plat, all it does is state that you have UOB CC Acct No. since when with credit limit, outstanding balance, how much total credit facilities you have with banks here.

If you have a UOB Preferred Plat with the words Privilege Banking embosed on the card then maybe something to shout about. Else Preferred Plat is just normal plat.

The point I am stating once again is what's important is your credit history. I don't see any problems you getting a plat MBB 2 as long as your credit history is good or your CL for the Preferred Plat (which you keep stressing) is less than RM10K (**Edited** or less than RM20K).

true, but as you mentioned there's term and conditions. So now you pump at Caltex and no more ESSO?

QUOTE(MGM @ Jan 25 2011, 08:47 PM)
FYI, I have the normal UOB Platinum. I am not stressing or shouting about owning this card, just want to be specific becos there is another UOB Privilege Platinum. I thought by being specific, someone nice here would give more accurate advice. And UOB Pref Plat keep on appearing becos I copy & paste, lazy to type.

So I need to have CL < rm10K (or <rm20K) to have a better chance of getting the card (or u err should be '>')? I thought the higher the CL the better the chance. My CL is rm30K (pls I am not bragging just stated the fact, in case u bombard me again) so I dont qualify?
*
Maybe you not aware, by typing CAPITALS you are deemed to be shouting. Please read forum rules.

With CL 30K, I see no problems of you getting Plat from MBB unless your CCRIS report really bad.

**Edited** I am not bombarding you in anyway, just stating facts, if you feel that I was bombardng you, I apologize icon_rolleyes.gif

For those not willing to give advice, pls dont. Sarcastic advice are not welcome, constructive one are.
For those who think it is wasting time, nobody ask you to response.
I never thought UOB PrefereD Plat is big deal, I am just being specific why some people just dont understand.
*
You were being sarcastic earlier but I just ignore it But now you have did it again.

It has nothing to do with being junior or senior, its about Rules and Regulations. Please do read it and don't post in CAPITALS.

At first, I thought that my replacement card for my spoiled Visa Petronas has arrived but the staff told me that it's an AMEX. sweat.gif

Call 1 800 88 9559 AMEX Tol free line. Use land line of course. They can check on system what card by just giving them your IC..

yes, as hye mentioned Visa and MC only 1X. So if you using your current MBB Petronas to pump petrol at Petronas, then the Maybanjkard 2 Amex may not be usable as many Petronas stations don't accept it.

don't listen to your friend, always pay in full to avoid interest charges. However, if you convert your transaction into flexi payment with 0% interest then it is different.

Hi all,

What is the best way to cancel a credit card? Can I call to the call centre to cancel the card or do I need to go to the bank myself?
*
what card? if MBB, even if you go to the branch and cut the card in half, do follow up. Last time I cancelled my MBB Petronas Gold at the branch and card cut in half, after few months got statement have to pay GST, but since I have cancelled it, no need to pay for it. CIMB and RHB very good, go to branch and cancel and they will make you a copy of the cancellation form.

read later on you want cancel CIMB, well like I said, if you go to branch, they will make a copy of your cancellation request for your records.

Yes you can. Different account. You can have as many AMEX cards you wish i.e. AMEX Gold CC + AMEX Plat CC + AMEX Gold Charge Card + AMEX Maybankard 2 + AMEX Kris Flyer as there are different accounts.

Why is HSBC making their promotion so cumbersome?

You have to spend the qualifying amount, then SMS your credit card number, and your transaction number to them between 10am to 10pm, for each transaction. And then if you are selected you have to correctly answer a question via SMS.

Couldn't they possibly make things a little easier by automatically recording all transactions that qualify and simply randomly selecting the winning entries? Honestly, I just couldn't be bothered to go through all that rigmarole for a very minuscule chance of winning anything.
*
yah, agree, that's why I hardly use my HSBC. But then again, got poeple like us better for others as less competition.

I gave up on HSBC promotion long ago after I spend thousands and did not get the samsonite bag.

Also from Inspired post, it tells us not to put all our money in one bank or use credit cards from banks where you don't deposit money with.

Dear Folks,

i got a problem/question here. last december i applied for the citibank cash back platinum card. here is what happen.

1) they sent me a gold card instead
2) made call to customer service saying i did not apply for a gold card. => no reply after 5 days
3) called them up again. 2-3 days later, the agent that i applied to(at a petrol station) called asking me to accept the card and later cancel it. i refuse because they should cancel it not me since i did not apply for that gold card. what of they charge me admin and the rm50 card.
4) made a written complain to them. they replied and say wil come back to me in a 3 days time. now is already one week.

i am contemplating sending them a reminder but cc to the authority. is there anyone that i can cc it too? perhaps consumer body?

fyi i applied twice for the card. once by giving them my gold card(the agent told me rm8000 limit on my card will suffice). but turn out they require rm8500. second time applied agian after furnishing them with my EPF and salary slip. btw i am qualified based on thier requirements. kindly advice...thanks...
*
how sure are you that you applied for the Cash Back Plat? Did you tick Cash Back Platinum box if there's one.

that's the "danger" of using agent if you just give them your IC and CC and sign blindly on the form, what the agent fill in after that you got no idea.

Once an agent pleaded to me to get a Citibank Plat card, I applied for it and wrote on the form "if no free annual fees please reject this application" never heard from Citibank at all.

anyway call Citibank CS again, ask for the person name on the phone and write in down. Explain to him/her that you don't want the Gold Card as you did not apply for it. Ask them to cancel it immediately.

As for you qualify or not, I guess Citibank already indicated to you twice.

*
got no idea what you wrote to them but Citibank you can cancel card over the phone. Just call them again and this time be specific, you want to cancel the Gold Card with immediate effect and not want to complaint that you apply for Plat and they give you Gold. As long as you don't use the card, the GST imposed (if any) will be credited back into the account as in my case when I cancel my Citibank card.

If you want, you can write to Bank Negara Malaysia. look back few pages, someone posted the link. Or do a serach. But you still got to settle with Citibank to make sure you no need pay GST.

smart, kept copy for the application form rclxms.gif

as for my case, when I cancel my Clear Card over the phone, it was passed the anniversary date. CS said to pay first and later they credit back within 3 months but the following month it was already credited into my account (in statement) so balance RM0, no need pay anything.

I saw the news here on 18-01-2011 then I called the CS.
CS said need to fill in the form.
So I downloaded the form from M2U then email to them without any attachment.
Sent on 18-01-2011 night, acknowledgment received from them on 19-01-2011 morning.

I guess you are the first one here receiving the cards.

I applied for the cards through telephone on 21-1-11, without submitting any document. I called MBB CS hotline just now, and was informed there was no application status. I don't see any new cards in my M2U yet. I guess my application has lost in space already. doh.gif
*
like I mentioned in my blog, applying by faxing in application will be faster and less prone to error. I know my application thru phone will be slow (from my MC Plat by phone vs Petronas Plat at Branch) but I was too lazt to fill in the form and not in urgent need of the card. My application too got problems, still show processing for Gold Card even tho called the girl I spoke to and she said emailed to the dept concern 3 days back.

So for you guys wanting MBB 2 cards fast, fax in application form.

hi there bro,

Is this card really worth it? Someone from MBB called me for pre-approved card just now. Sounds too good to be true... is there any catch?

- only pay RM50 GST for one VISA and one AMEX
- 5x points on AMEX, 1x on VISA
- 5% cash back on weekends with, AMEX capped at RM50/month
- lifetime waiver

This is much better than OCBC Titanium, but is there any catch? I thought lastime 5x only for selected outlet but now he's claiming all outlet also can get 5x points. Please enlighten me as MBB site lack detailed info.

My AMEX Gold CC Statement Date is Different from my MBB Petronas Plat Statement Date which I reapplied and got it 2 months ago. However my newest MBB MasterCard Plat which I got last month have the same Statement Date as my MBB Petronas. All 3 share the same Credit Limit.

And you are right, all of 3 them which are credit cards expire in the same month but in different year. I learned something today. Thanks. However my AMEX Charged Card expiry date is different.

guys, wanna ask here on behalf of my sis-in-law, regarding Balance Transfer (BT).

sorry i ask here coz BT thread since not so active like here notworthy.gif
and me myself never do BT sweat.gif

she's looking to apply new card just for BT and wont use the card at all.

the question is:
BT amount will be convert into fixed-monthly-installment, or just pay any amount but must settle within the period?

example, BT rm4.5k for 6 months 0% fee, then which 1 it will be?

A. monthy fixed rm750 x 6, or

B. can pay like this - 1st month rm500, 2nd rm1200, 3rd rm600, 4th rm1200, 5th rm500, 6th rm500.

or both method is correct, but by diff bank? example PBB using A, while CIMB & OCBC using B?

another question (still not being answered in BT thread):
*
ask your sis in law go read below post at my blog
http://creditcardsmalaysia.blogspot.com/20...fer-2011-0.html

in there I got mentioned which is fixed and which is 5%. Ask your sis in law to get CIMB, best in my opinion as separate statement and they very efficient. Asnwer calls fast and 24 hours.

**Edited**
one more thing, CIMB got Tol Free line wheras Direct Access no for CS.

For CIMB and Direct Access, can do BT many times as long as got available credit.

Thank you!

ok, no harm getting most out of your card but for only RM1K+ you want to do BT and then buy some more stuff with installment I think you really leaving beyond your means, not flaming you or anything but just don't fall into the banks' "trap" if you are financially tight. This easy credit given by banks are means to make you spend more.

But to answer your question on how to get installment for electrical goods, tell me what card you have and maybe then I can assist you. And do go to Harvey Norman and check out their price as they offer 0% without any surcharge for almost all cards. Also they do give discount if you pay in full, just ask, buta buta get discount like I did last time bought stuff from them.

**Edited**
in regards to MBB 2 Cards AMEX no installment, well it comes with Visa or MAsterCard which allows you to do installment plans at many merchants.

the question that still not being answered is (asked by some1 in BT thread):

how if, BT rm4.5k to CIMB, pay rm225 for month 1-5,
then, on the 6th month, can BT remaining balance rm3,375 to another bank?
*
in BT thread, someone did mentioned he managed to BT for BT but I can't remember from which bank.

CIMB got toll-free line??
If you mean 1300-880-900 , I'm afraid calling this number will incur LOCAL CALL charges. All 1300- prefix numbers are local calls.

IINM, the toll free lines usually have prefix 1800-xxx-xxx.
*

CIMB do have tol free 1800 for their premium cards just like HLB and MBB

As for CIMB 1 300 it is Tol free if you use land line. click link below.

http://www.directaccess.com.my/index.php?c...3&tpt=cimb_bank

Just for your info even 1800 calls are chargeable with handphone. But starting this year DiGi no charges for 1800 but 1300 still got.

Actually I plan to cancel the citi air aisa card, I have enough cash to make full payment but I just want to try BT service and apply another bank card.
So, I'm ask for your assist here to avoid the banks "trap".... notworthy.gif

I'm not sure is that have Harvey Norman in Melaka, but I'll try select some items from JJ to get extra points as you said in your blog.

If I use MBB2 Amex for full payment, earned the 5X TPoint and 1X JPoint on weekend got 5% cash rebate,
then wait for the e-statement printed, submit BT to others bank.

Due to my MBB CL still only 6K, so can I use this solution for purchase more products?

Currently I have:
1) MBB Petronas Visa CL 6k
2) EON Classic Master CL 4K
3) New AEON Visa CL 3K
4) Citi Air Asia Master CL 4K

Now plan to get:
1) MBB2 Card
2) OCBC Titanium

and cancel:
2) EON Classic Master CL 4K
3) New AEON Visa CL 3K
4) Citi Air Asia Master CL 4K

*kept MBB Petronas Visa CL 6k for apply some new card.
Reason 1) Is more than 2 yrs, easy to apply new card.
Reason 2) Mar'11 going to pay GST 50, still have few mths easy payment to go...
*
From above, here's what I think

1)if you want do try 0% BT fast and now, you already have MBB Petronas which you can try out by doing your BT to MBB. But this may result in you keeping the card longer if you opt for the 12 months 0% BT. if you got no intention to cancel your Petronas card then no probs.

2) MBB, EON and Citibank are accepted at many places for 0% installment plans.

3) as for your question on MBB 2, yes you still get the 5X TP and 5% cash when you BT to another bank using printed E statement. And once you BT to another bank, yes you got available credit again in your MBB 2 Cards (you don't do BT and pay it off also same thing i.e got available credit).

4) go apply for new cards and then only cancel the Citi after you get the new cards just in case your application got problems (kiasu a bit lah). As for the AEON and EON, go cancel it if you don't need it (minimum 2 months before GST due, kiasu again to allow enough time to follow up). But just to let you know, your MBB 2 Card credit limit will be shared with your MBB Petronas.

As for you refering to my blog on JJ, please note I am not saying you must go buy at JJ, what I am saying is that you get points with your J card AND credit card at JJ. I only buy at JJ if the thing is cheaper than elsewhere. However, I wil say this, JJ card members day is the best day to shop at JJ but for big item, go compare price elsewhere a day or two before the JJ card members day so you can conclude where you get a better price.

Last but not least, do know that if you want to "try" BT, you are asking for "work". You have to plan in such a way that the BT payment is paid before your Due Date and need to follow (I kiasu wan, always follow up on application, approval and paytment) and it be shown in your CCRIS report (as mentioned by some here). If the BT payment is made after your due date, you may end up paying more in the end. Seriously IMHO, for RM1K not worth the effort.
