I want a card with UNLIMITED 5% cash rebate EVERY DAY of the week on ALL transactions. Saves me a lot of thinking at the cashier. What day is it? Which card have I max out? etc etc.

Wish a bank would come up with a card like that to counter all these card wars.  rclxms.gif

hahaha, So true, Got a suggestion to solve your problem - stick a note to your cards.

the maybankard 2 issit combined limit???
*
no matter how many card you have with MBB, the CL for all cards are combiined and not just for the Maybankard 2 cards (where these 2 cards share a single statement).

For exmaple, I got MBB Petronas Visa, MBB Plat Master Card and American Express Gold CC (without MBB log) and all these 3 cards have separate statements and different due date but they share the same combined limit.

icic. I just applied the Maybank petronas gold card. This Maybankard 2 seems quite attractive for amex 5% rebate with 5x treat points. not bad. How is the acceptance of amex in malaysia? Can Tesco, Giant, Jusco and all the petrol station accept amex??
*
AMEX no problems as places you mentioned except for Petronas. If you can wait for a day or two before applying, read my review on Maybankard 2 AMEX whre I'll be publishing soon. Watch for my signature below to check if it is out..

*
Treat points is different from AMEX's Membership Reward points. i.e. Cards with Maybank Logo gets Treats Points and AMEX Cards without any logo gets Membership Reward Points.

Finally, finished my article and review on Maybanard 2 Cards for my blog at http://creditcardsmalaysia.blogspot.com/

Below is the main gist of the entire article and for those not wanting to waste time reading it at my blog:

Benefits of Maybankard 2 Cards which I feel is worth repeating:

I) 2 Credit Cards for a single GST of RM50 or shall we say RM25/each.

II) Free Lifetime Annual Fees - no conditions, no need to swipe minimum times or spend a minimum amount annually.

III) Travel Insurance - this is great as can use the card to purchase tickets and get 5X rewards points and 5% cash rebate (max RM50 but still better than nothing).

IV) 5X Treats Points anywhere in the world plus monthly cap of RM50 cash back for every Saturdays and Sundays. Note that it was mentioned Principal card holder only, better check if Supp cards also enjoy the 5% cash back when you apply for it.

V) The Visa or MasterCard, you can keep in your drawer as it only gives 1X point for every Ringgit. (But if you want 0% installment plans by merchants, then this card may be of use).

Comparison between Maybank 2 American Express Card and OCBC Titanium MasterCard

MBB 2 Amex gets 5X Reward Points Everyday, Anywhere and Anytime vs. OCBC TMC Nothing, Nil, None, Zero;

MBB 2 Amex Free Lifetime Annual Fees vs. OCBC TMC need to swipe 12 times;

MBB 2 Amex GST must pay (but with 5X points only need to spend RM2K to get 10,000 Treats Points to offset GST ) vs. OCBC TMC must pay but auto waived if spend RM10K annually;

MBB 2 Amex 5% cash back on weekends anywhere vs. OCBC TMC 5% cash back anytime but not everywhere;

MBB 2 Amex offers Travel Insurance vs. OCBC none; and last but not least

MBB 2 Amex overseas transactions are subjected to 2.5% Admin Charge but with 5X maybe this is acceptable vs. a lower overseas conversion rate with OCBC TMC (do note again that the RM50 cap which may limit the usefulness of OCBC Titanium MasterCard for overseas spending).

BOTH MBB 2 Amex and OCBC Titanium cash rebate is capped at RM50/month sad.gif

Please be warned that my entire article is kind of long with lots of other stuff unrelated to Maybankard 2 cards. So if you have the time to spare or just want some leisure reading over the weekend, click below link to go directly to my post on Maybankard 2:

you can always blank out the CVV code
*
yes, you are right. It is a good practice to do that when applying for another CC where they want a copy of your existing CC front and back. The back is to verify that the card signature is the same as in the application form.

QUOTE(cute_boboi @ Jan 21 2011, 08:22 PM)
If can, will transfer or pay full, and use only MBB 2 CC (Amex & Visa) = RM50 GST for two cards.

If penalty >RM50, then might as well I retain one of the card (that has 0% installment on-going), and apply for MBB 2 CC. = RM50 + RM50 GST
Total 3 CC

Otherwise, if I keep it as it is now and don't apply, my two MBB CC (Amex + Visa) also RM50 + RM50
Total 2 CC only.

Therefore, conclusion is, submit application for it.  smile.gif

Have a nice weekend.  biggrin.gif

Installment plan and BT exit penalty is also a strategey by banks to prevent card holders from cancelling thier cards. Alliance BT exit penalty is damn high at 5% of the approved Balance Transfer Amount.

I dont feel safe applying cc using email, as the scanned documents (ic and cc) in email can be rechanneled easily and reproduced clearly if they fall into the wrong hands. Fax copies which is not very clear would be better in my opinion.
May be I am being paranoid especially after watching those internet-related movies
*
True if you just scan your IC straight off. Good to be kiasu as far as IC is concern, don't want later find out somebody took a loan with your IC.

Nowadays with 3 in 1 printer that print, scan and copy, first make copy of you IC in black and white. You have the option to set the quality of the print. Then crossed the IC with words like Maybank CC Application Only. Same thing with your CC but this time also blank out the CCV. Then only scan and sent the doc via email.

Credit card verification?

today i call to 1300886688 to check my credit card balance,  the agent was asking me:
1.my maiden name
2. my ic number
3.full credit card number
4.expiry date

Do they need to ask these four info for the verification?
*
usually they'll ask for my mother's maiden name. As hye said, you call them so don't worry and you'll be asked the same things again the next time to call. Usually I'll start off the conversation by giving my card number straight away.

Sometimes CS officers really tested me seriously. I was asked some questions like "what's the 6th character of your security pin?" and "what's your memorable date other than your birthday?". This usually makes me think twice first before I could respond. sweat.gif
*
QUOTE(andrekua @ Jan 22 2011, 06:28 PM)
Are you sure such question were asked?
There's no way I could answer my security pin since I will burn it without reading it at all.
*
QUOTE(winner @ Jan 22 2011, 06:40 PM)
I have been asked such question twice or trice, but I cannot remember which bank it is. They didn't ask me the full pin, it's one of the 6 characters.
No. You can still use the card. The bank is more than happy to retain a customer if you wish to continue to hold the card.
*
For Direct Access, you are required to create you own security pin up to 10 characters (can be less) and CS will usually ask what the the X character of your pin. Also there are other questions like favourite food or restaurant and memorable street, I think this system is the most secured unlike other banks security check where they just ask general questions like what was mentioned earlier.

QUOTE(alice123 @ Jan 23 2011, 02:14 AM)
what about pharmacy, Caring, Watson.............etc?
*
Good question, yes American Express cards are accepted at pharmacies like Guardian and Caring, not sure about Watson as I seldom visit it. Got to add this info to my blog on Maybankard 2 Cards. But if you do spend a lot at Caring, better fo with AMEX Pantai card where you get up to 20% discount. Usually I use my Direct Access at Guardian because of the weekend rebates with points but with 5X Treat Points and 5% cash back, American Express Maybankard 2 is better.

QUOTE(H4RRY @ Jan 23 2011, 05:45 PM)
Thanks.

I went through some pages of the discussion regarding Maybankard 2.
A few questions:

I read that someone say he pays KFC RM4.50 using his CC, don't retailers usually has a minimum amount for payment through CC? Usually RM50, I think.
I was wondering how often I can use a CC. Let's say buy groceries below RM50. Is the general rule, above RM50 can swipe?

I also read some review on OCBC MC Titanium, you should use at least RM1000 per month to get the most from it. Otherwise, just get Maybankard 2. But the VISA is not as good and some retailers might not accept AMEX. So, I should get both Maybankard 2 and OCBC MC Plat? Use AMEX when possible and OCBC when AMEX not accepted? Maybank also has the lowest overseas conversion rate as I will be travelling every year.

Also, I read through a few links and found this regarding credit report. Doesn't show up in all my google searches.

You can get credit report once every 3 months.

http://creditbureau.bnm.gov.my/index.php?c...7&ac=10&lang=en
*
As for KFC with RM4.5, we CIMB and Direct Access card holders use it at KFC because as we get discount and or rebate by using the card issued by CIMB only. Yah, it'll be odd if you swipe using a CC for RM4.50 but some of us including myself wouldn't care less of what other thinks because if we pay by cash we don't get the discount and or cash rebate.

As for the OCBC MC Titanium, it does not mean that you should go swipe RM1K with it to benefit from it. It should be the other way round, spend RM1K or less with the OCBC the get most out of it. This statement of RM1K only applies if you use the OCBC MC Titanium for groceries, petrol, dining and utility bill payment where you get 5% cash rebate. Because OCBC Titanium cash rebate is limited to maximum RM50 per month, you won't gain anymore rebate once the RM50 is reached.

For example:

Your petrol monthly RM600, so your cash back RM600 x 0.05 = RM30
Dining and go RedBox (ronnie confirmed got 5%) monthly RM200, so your cash back RM200 x 0.05 = RM10
Phone Bills RM80 per month, so you cash back RM80 x 0.05 = RM4
Groceries RM300/month, so your cash back RM300 x 0.05 = RM15

From above, you spent a total of RM1,180 and with 5% cash rebate you should get RM59 BUT since OCBC Titanium cash back is capped at RM50/month, you wont get more than this.

Hope the example above is of help.

I did throw this question to OCBC CS last month but nobody can give me an accurate answer. They said BT and cc share the same account. Whatever payment will go towards the settlement of cc outstanding balance first. But when asked whether the extra payment will be deemed settlement of BT balance, nobody can answer this. If all the money goes to cc account ONLY, then interest will be charged for BT.
*
As long as CIMB and Direct Access is offering 0% BT plans I would not consider any other BT plans simply because CIMB is efficient and fast in processing BT application and making payment. Best of all they will create a separate account which makes it easier to monitor outstanding balance for BT and not have to worry about payment hierarchy.

1. Direct Access unit was previously set up by Southern Bank where they offered free annual fees for CC and other banking facilities over the phone. Was very successful as it was FREE. Main target were graduates and subsequently targetted professionals. When Southern Bank was forced to merged with CIMB (I still pissed off over this, wonder how much my Southern Bank shares would be worth today if it was not forced to merge ), CIMB retained the name and products.

2. If you ask me, better to go with CIMB card as not many people knows that Direct Access is part of CIMB. Only last week end went to Burger King and had to show them the back of my Direct Access where there is CIMB written on it to get 10% discount.

3. Watson no rebates. Petrol since this year no rebates. Burger King 10% discount everyday and Sunday extra 10% rebate. KFC 10% rebate on Sundays only. Every Sunday Guardian, Cold Storage, Giant and Tesco 5% rebate. No other rebates other than these. These rebate are promotion and offer will end on 30 June 2011 unless it is extended.

4. CIMB and Direct Access got 0% Balance Transfer Plan and also 0% Installment Plans for Education, Hospital and Insurance. However, these plans are also not permanent and for limited time only.

5. Without offers or promotions, CIMB standard non co-brand cards are as good as useless with 1X reward points only. hahaha

So if you want rebate card, go for OCBC Titanium or Maybankard 2 Cards.

Click here to read about Maybankard 2 Cards. Minimum income RM30K

Click here to read about OCBC Titanium Cards. Minimum income RM36K..

Call Maybank telemarketing at 58914777 and this was what the guy said:
GST for the 2 supplementary cards is only Rm25.
Cash rebate from retail transactions INCLUDE those done online.
Actually the more you try to find out from the horse's mouth, the more contradicting it becomes.
BO-CHAI-KANG (wasted effort).
Can apply by phone thru this tel by giving info thru phone, and faxing them your ic and existing cc (front).
*
It may be easier to apply thru the phone if you are a current MBB card holder. But for 1st time card application, better fill in the form and fax over to avoid errors which may haunt you later on. By filling up the form yourself, the possibility of an error is less. If you read the AMEX thread, I did mentioned that luckily I followed up with my application which was done over the phone where a problem did materialize.

By filling up the form you need to supply them BE form, payslips and ic.

By phone, only need to fax them ic and existing CC (non-MBB).
*
Nowadays it is standard for the industry that when applying for a credit card, one no longer needs to give any documenttion to proof income if you have another credit card that is more than a year old.

For my case, as a current MBB card holder, I apply over the phone without needing to fax over any documentation. i.e. no need IC and cards too.
