QUOTE(Gen-X @ Feb 11 2011, 11:16 AM) 1.5% for education is good. After reading the T&C (click here for OCBC GE T&C)noted the following: Very detailed explanation, thank you.Annual fee RM68 and RM138 for GE Titanium and Plat respectively. Max Education and Medical rebate per month RM250 and RM200 for GE Plat and GE Titanium respectively. My comments are as follows: 1. For medical most private hospital accept Amex so go with Maybankard 2 Cards. 2. Say get GE Titanium where annual fees cheaper and only income of RM36K to qualify, max rebate per month for education is RM200 or up to RM13,333.33 tuition fees you get rebate. 3. Based on the annual fee of RM68, your tuition fees need to be more than RM4533.33 per year to get same amount of rebate to offset the annual fee. 4. Also have to consider RM50GST for principal and RM25 for Supp card. If one's tuition fee is more than RM10K/year then GST will be waived by OCBC for Principal Card (got to check does this mean your dad got to charge the card?). So got to consider Supp card RM25 GST too. So for the case of RM9000, if charging it once a year not suitable because Annual Fee + GST (Principal and Supp) = RM143 and cash rebate is RM135. If you charge twice or more a year then the card makes sense. IMHO Visa/MC still have an edge over Amex. This OCBC GE card is good for cardmembers who spend mainly in GE premiums, children's education fees, medical fees. Other categories than these, yes please use other cards, haha.. I agree that Annual Fee & GST need to be factored in the savings calculation. Now the decision is up to the 'ask'er. This post has been edited by chemistry: Feb 11 2011, 01:47 PM |

QUOTE(Gen-X @ Feb 11 2011, 02:17 PM) Visa and MC definately have the edge over AMEX because most insurance and schools don't accept AMEX. But my son Uni in US does accept Amex and MAsterCard (no Visa) through a 3rd party and they charge 2.75% for convenience fee and adding that to our local AMEX 2.5% fee, boy, that's more than 5% extra, so I buy bank draft cheaper. I see.For your case, where the third party impose extra charge, it makes sense that you turn to bank draft. |

QUOTE(David83 @ Feb 11 2011, 09:26 PM) I see.For me, other than local calls, I use iTalk to make calls to all other networks, flat rate at 18sen/minute. Not just wired networks, mobile network portability also create problems to mobile phone users. The prefix 01X can no longer tell the network name, causing unwanted trouble when adding Activ10/Xpax/FnF/etc.. |

QUOTE(MNet @ Feb 11 2011, 10:04 PM) the remaining time is not accurate. iTalk call rate has been lowered long ago, from 15sen (fixed line)/25sen (mobile) to flat rate 18sen. It was also published in major papers.the rate at the website is accurate http://www.tm.com.my/ap/personal/voice/car...bout-iTalk.aspx u use 1800 87 3535 or 1800 87 3636 ? 3535/3636 also same rate. QUOTE(MNet @ Feb 11 2011, 10:16 PM) if u use 3535 then it will eat up ur existing prepaid balance. This is a bit off topic already.while 3636 will not use ur existing prepaid balance. that why the rate of using both of it is different i dont believe TM put wrong rate at the website We talk through PM, OK? |

QUOTE(Xai-V-iaX @ Feb 11 2011, 10:23 PM) I have never been a fan of CCs and have always avoided to apply for one as well but recently I have been very much indulged in getting one or two in order to benefit from the cash-back returns on petrol, grocery shopping, bills, utilities payment & etc. I’m still scouting around for some good deals and would appreciate some recommendations from our members as well... You may get some ideas from the first post in this thread. |

QUOTE(David83 @ Feb 12 2011, 11:53 PM) Perhaps it is OCBC who disallows payment gateway that does not require 3D Secure Added on February 13, 2011, 1:16 am QUOTE(Xai-V-iaX @ Feb 12 2011, 11:53 PM) Now that's an bummer that the OCBC Ti can't be used to pay TM bills online... I beg to differ. My plan was to use the Ti for all the bills & petrol payment. Every month I pay TM bills on TM Online using OCBC Ti, never encounter problems. Have you registered your phone number? Online transaction will require One-Time Password which is sent to your registered mobile. This post has been edited by chemistry: Feb 13 2011, 01:16 AM |

QUOTE(MilesAndMore @ Feb 13 2011, 01:19 AM) GSC does support MasterCard SecureCode and Verified by VISA. I used to use my HSBC MasterCard to pay for GSC ticket online and i always had to key in my MasterCard SecureCode before the payment can be authorized. A few days ago my OCBC card was blocked due to security reason. An sms was sent to my mobile and asked me to call back. I was told by CS that their system automatically lock the card when a suspicious transaction was tracked despite verified by OTP. They authenticate the transaction when I told them "Yes, it was me who performed the trxn". I think this is good practice. He doesn't have the card yet ... QUOTE(staind @ Feb 13 2011, 01:55 AM) If you are able to make payment to PTPTN using credit card, any card will do. How good if PTPTN accepts repayment via Amex Added on February 13, 2011, 2:10 am QUOTE(Xai-V-iaX @ Feb 13 2011, 02:01 AM) I'm afraid I'm unable to answer this. The payee list is shared by OCBC credit card/savings/current account users. One must try to select the payee and key in the appropriate account number and SUBMIT. If the system can proceed, that means the payee accepts cc payment. If the system returns an error, that means payment via cc is not allowed. This post has been edited by chemistry: Feb 13 2011, 02:10 AM |

QUOTE(Xai-V-iaX @ Feb 13 2011, 02:23 AM) I see....actually I just wanted to know if the OCBC ONLINE system accepts online payment for ALLIANZ & KOJADI as they are my frequent merchants. This is solely because between them I have approx RM700 worth of payment made on a monthly basis which equates to about RM35 cash back. Good cash back returns from the both huh? Both ALLIANZ and KOJADI are not in the 5% cashback category. Therefore, even though you manage to use OCBC Ti to pay these bills, you earn only 1% cashback ie. RM7 ** Tell you my friend, not all transactions are given 5% cashback. Please read more details about the card features. I can't tell all here. |

QUOTE(winner @ Feb 13 2011, 07:09 AM) Last month my OCBC Titanium MC was automatically blocked because of fraud syndicate. OCBC informed me of this via phone and sms. In the beginning I doubted this so that I called OCBC hotline to clarify. In the end, OCBC sent me a replacement card with new number within 3 days. And of course, all my auto debit payees have to be informed of the new card number. I'm sorry to hear that. Unfortunately you have encountered a real fraud case. But luckily OCBC saved you from the hassle of dispute. You may consider writing a compliment letter as a token of appreciation. |

QUOTE(aeiou228 @ Feb 13 2011, 12:33 PM) I'm looking for another card that give good rebates for other retail spending, Insurance, education, medical, Astro. Any suggestion ? OCBC Great Eastern Titanium/Platinum cards are designed for these purposes ie. insurance, medical, education. But you need to spend at least an amount to justify the annual fee & GST. Waiver of AF & GST is available but with condition.Currently using CTB Shell gold for 0.7% rebates for other retail spending. Go search its info & you shall be enlightened. |

QUOTE(aeiou228 @ Feb 13 2011, 07:17 PM) The rebate focuses on insurance, education and medical fees. Other than these categories, you may use other card as you wish. There is no all-round card to satisfy all your needs.your Citibank Cashback Platinum is already very good so you may stick to it and earn your handsome cashback.
