QUOTE(MGM @ Jan 28 2011, 10:54 AM) So can pay the utility bills at the utility companies on Sunday and enjoy the 5% cash rebate + 5x Treat-points using MBB2 Amex. Be prepared to be told that they don't have Amex card terminal so please try other card. This is very likely to happen. The TMPoint & TNB in my hometown cannot swipe Amex but only Visa/MC. Even the PayOnline also accepts only Visa/MC. The solution is use Autopay (which triggered a debate whether Autopay is retail trxn onot).

QUOTE(erry- @ Jan 28 2011, 12:14 PM) TNB at their website stated only accept Visa & MC for payment at the counter / kiosk. while for autopay, it wont be charged on weekend for sure. so confirm cant get the 5% rebate I see. Like that ar.. can totally 'die heart' already lor! LOL. Guys, pls just stick to OCBC Ti for utilities payment. 5X TP plus 5% cashback hopeless already..

QUOTE(MilesAndMore @ Jan 28 2011, 02:29 PM) I'm on the RM110 Streamyx Blockbuster Deals. I do get free calls to both 1300 and 1800 too Calling mobile phone is very cheap too at only RM0.10/minute. It is this very "china men mentality" that helped them to sail through the last economic crisis relatively unscratched and maintain its position as one of the very few safe and sound white man bank in the new millennium. Both has the same status, just different company. RM250k deposit at Standard Chartered will also already get you a VISA Infinite. Too bad my Streamyx is combo with Celcom broadband not Voice Deal, otherwise I can switch to BB deals. The mascot pair in front of HSBC HQ must have been blessing them. Haha. Will SCB take back VI should the deposit amt falls below 250K later?

QUOTE(zenquix @ Jan 28 2011, 03:44 PM) first thing that needs to be confirmed is whether supplementary spending count towards the 5% cashback... The T&C is confusing, or is my English bad? :Swt. The Principal cardmember in the bracket has left many question marks amongst potential applicants. Even though the CS told that weekend cashback is shared by principal & supp, we still cannot trust entirely. (no point asking CS actually, haha) however, if the supp card applicant meets requirement, better go for Principal Card.

QUOTE(MilesAndMore @ Jan 28 2011, 03:43 PM) Definitely. Lions right ? They also got this at their HQ in Hong Kong, some of their main offices in Canada, their HQ in London and their former main office in Shanghai in The Bund. The bronze lions outside their HQ in Hong Kong survived the 2nd world war. Both of the bronze lions were sent to Japan to be melted but the war ended and both managed to return to Hong Kong. Wah, that story you also know. I never heard of that. How did you know all this?

QUOTE(timetravelller @ Jan 28 2011, 04:19 PM) i got a question. let's say i wanna cash advance using hlb credit card, can i perform cash advance of hlb at maybank atm machine? My suggestion is, instead of cash advance which incur a fee & relatively high interest charge, better use HLB Balance Transfer which enable crediting the fund into any C/A or S/A specified by you. And the interest is much lower compared to standard finance charge. If you have HLB deposit account, can process even faster. It can be done over the phone. Just call card centre. QUOTE(Fall guy @ Jan 28 2011, 06:10 PM) Just a question about Direct Access. Is there anyway that we can view our points online? I normally have to rely on the monthly bank statements to view this info. I'm afraid you can't check pts online. Pls go to CIMB website --> Rewards & Redemption, there's a hotline number there, they can check the latest updated pts for you.

Did anyone notice a sentence in MBB homepage saying "Maybank to aim 20% growth in card base" something like that? Guess MBB already started the war with this Maybankard2.

Got my OCBC Ti's 3% Internet banking Rebate (Oct-Dec) too, however the amount does not tally with my calculation. Based on 3% from all my OCBC online trxns, I should get RM39.27, but OCBC gave me RM50.39. If based on 5%, still not tally as well, because 5% cashback should be RM65.44.

QUOTE(patricktoh @ Jan 30 2011, 12:55 AM) Apology for the late reply. I hardly this card so thought of cancel it. Now I only carry 3 cards. i) CT Master Plat (auto debit, retail purchases) ii) UOB OneCard Visa Plat (BHP petrol, GSC, Sushi King) iii) UOB Preferred Master Plat (in cold storage, hardly use) The must-get cards as of 30-1-2011 are Maybankard 2 Amex and OCBC Titanium Mastercard. You may want to make a change This post has been edited by chemistry: Jan 30 2011, 01:45 AM

QUOTE(Gen-X @ Jan 30 2011, 08:50 AM) For his case. maybe Maybankard 2 Cards (AMEX) may not be so attractive. OCBC Titanium maybe. With OCBC Titanium, for example he will get 5% cash rebate with OCBC TMC at BHP vs UOB 2% Smart Cash at BHP. But at Sushi King with UOB he gets 10% vs OCBC 5% & also UOB One CArd gets 5% at GSC. At Sushi King, if he used to dine on weekends, the Amex's 7.5% (total return%) doesn't lose much to UOB. At GSC as well, if he watch movie on weekends, 7.5% is even better than UOB's 5%. For petrol, on weekends, 7.5% better than OCBC's 5%. All in all, it depends on how much Kei18kun spends on these merchants then only can work out a solution.

QUOTE(kei18kun @ Jan 30 2011, 02:38 PM) Sorry for mistake. I don't watch movies, so not sure about payment method. If u really are so into movies, better apply CIMB Visa Platinum, free 1 ticket everyday at GSC. I'm sure the savings from this promotion can cover the GST for the additional card.

Hopefully MBB put more effort in increasing acceptance of AmEx nationwide. As the bank with the most branches, they can do very well if they want to.
