well there are rules in the game, and why there are punishments for tackling, for holding back players, for delibrately pulling down opponents through on goal. if a hand ball is considered cheating, why arent all those cheating?

you commit a foul, and you get punished for the crime. that is not cheating. cheating to me is you commit something with the intention of getting away with it.

as long as suarez doesnt mess up the backroom, who cares?
he a good player...
but i disagree with his handball..
it kills all the hardwork....

4 years of hardwork, and get knocked out by handball, then the players need to wait another 4 years

Not really. Cheating is basically an act of breaking some rules for the sake of gaining an advantage. It doesnt matter whether or not you had the intention of getting away with it. The moment you consciously break the rules to gain an advantage, you already commiting yourself to cheating. Diving to gain a penalty or free kick or to get someone sent off is cheating. Handballing to prevent a goal bound strike is cheating. Handballing to prevent the ball from going out of bounds ala Henry against Ireland is also cheating. Pulling a man down to prevent him from going on goal when you're the last man is cheating.

Its not really clearly defined though. Maybe to someone else, cheating can be a different thing or a heavier thing on the pitch.
How you define cheating does not necessarily means that its the only definition.

Celebrating and being held up as a hero after a blatant unsporting act is a big no no for me. You can call it heroics etc, but I hardly feel the need to have a character like his in the squad. I am sure they are better options out there.

As for Gerrard, I believe you all already know what I think of his hypocrisy.

Thing is, nobody would know what you would do for a game like this. Take for an example, you are representing your country in the world cup. Yes you might say all the more reason not to behave like he did. But you really dont know until you are in that situation, that cross from the side and your last thing that stoods between a goal or not. Adrenaline starts to kick in, professionally or not, you are going to stop the ball at all cost from going across the line if you think you got a chance to win the game. He did, gambled and gambled well. Can't really feel that sorry for the opposing team as they were awarded fair accordingly.

And i hardly find a player that doesnt do that in the game today. I believe every player or most will at least had done something that you called unsporting be it a small dive or intentional hand ball. Maybe you have seen some players that are that 'sporting' but who knows, the moment hasn't come to them yet.

yup

i'm sure if 'such' a situation arises, instingtively the defender 'saves' a goal bound , of course there are consequences (red) in the rules, but for the sake/need of saving the team, i'm would think there a high chance even a Lfc would be in the situation risks it. There is no chance to think but a reflex actions. its difficult to label him a cheater unlike..

as going down without a any contact in a non threatening part of the pitch (look at last night korea vs iran). thats fooling the ref.

I stress again that it wis the 'celebrating like a hero' part that really irks me. Hardly any need to rub it into the faces of your opponents when you have won via an unsporting act.

At any rate, is he not a quick nimble fella like Torres and we are instead looking for a battering ram.

cynically holding back players, for delibrately pulling down opponents through on goal is cheating ... current punishment is not a deterrent enough to stop these cheats ... i would support a 10 minutes sin bin for each one of them .. so instead of 'taking it for the team' if they do it, they will inconvenience their team even more...

for the Suarez part, Uruguay should be punished by playing with 10 man or a goal down from the start for the next 3 matches...

if Suarez can think of a way to get away with it, he would have... but its too blatant to even bother doing it... if a cheat get caught for his act and got punished, he is still a cheat...

The Ghana penalty taker does not have to be put in a position where the weight of the continent be put on his shoulder.... its not his fault.... you dont want to wish that position on anybody...

a fair compensation to Ghana for what Suarez did is a penalty kick without the goalkeeper...

Well, everybody has his or her opinion to what is the fair compensation.
The compensation im referring to is based on the rules of FIFA. In the sense of FIFA, they were fairly awarded. If you do convert or don't, thats a different matter. Anyway to me, he should be aware as to be the no.1 penalty spot-taker for your whole country, to duly deliver when needed to no matter what the circumstances is.
I rest my case and saying i would welcome Suarez to the club.

Lets get the ball rolling today. We just have to get a result tonight.

Good to see Spearing given a start. Anyone could see that he's at least as good as Poulsen. Being a local lad, he'll be up for this one. Just hope his enthusiasm doesn't get the better of him.
