QUOTE(leftist @ Jan 23 2011, 12:16 AM) but still our midfielders sux especially on the 2nd half ehhh...i think theres a period where wolves dominated bout 20minutes and played entirely in liv halves..luckily our defense stood tall...heard that we r chasing Charlie Adams..that should add creativity & steel to our mid! We've had a bid turn down for Adams. Would like to know how much Dalglish has been given to spend. On the midfield battle, well we really didn't lose control over it until we got our second. Can't expect our lads to run about and press for the full 90 minutes. Although we gave up a fair bit of posession later one, we dealth with whatever Wolves has to offer pretty well. The icing on the cake was of course when Torres scored out third after a powerful run from Kuyt off a counter attack. Sitting deep does have its advantages especially when you are playing deep and you have a player the calibre of Torres to play the ball up to. |

QUOTE(PPZ @ Jan 23 2011, 10:03 AM) I never doubted that it will only be a matter of time before King Kenny gets us playing good, fluid attacking football again. Sometimes, football is that simple. In the old days, we used to put or opponents on the backfoot and have them scratching their heads over how to stop us. Since then however, we've begun to become too passive, looking to find a solution to stop the attacking threats of your Wolves, Wigans, Readings and Hulls of the world. I've always thought that we had a squad good enough to impose ourselves upon other teams and last night was a good example. Dalglish played with virtually the same team Hodgson had. The significant difference would be playing Johnson at leftback. The difference in movement however was painstakingly obvious. Whilst Hodgson would have had both Poulsen and Lucas sit back, Dalglish gave them instructions to get forward. Poulsen whom I believe has never got himself beyond the half way line under Hogdson had our very first attempt on goal early in the game. Lucas was constantly making darting runs forward to supplement Mereiles. It wasn't the best kept secret was it? We clearly have players capable of playing attacking football and we've showed with massive wins of Man Utd at Old Trafford, Real Madrid, Blackburn and Villa two seasons ago that we can dismantle big sides. It is refreshing that King Kenny has decided that we should be getting at teams. |

Ian Holloway was quite pissed with the bid as he labeled that bid was a disgrace for a player of Charlie Adams' stature. He didn't blame it on KD but on Comolli instead. One thing i noticed on last night game was Liverpool pressing game are back all the way to the opposition keeper. That is the Liverpool i know, never give opponent chance to have possesion. When Liverpool are playing like that, pressing, fluid passing and movement, opponent won't be able to execute their game plan as they are busy with stopping Liverpool attack. Good sign with that win. Surely will lift up players' confidence. Few areas need to improve first though. Even though Kelly was impressive last night, Wolves still managed to bombard Liverpool's box with dangerous crosses. Luckily the center backs was up to the task. |

Luckily the center backs was up to the task. anyway we'll make an improve bid on him Kenny Dalglish to bid £5m for Blackpool star Charlie Adam LIVERPOOL boss Kenny Dalglish will make a new £5million offer for Charlie Adam – with the Blackpool skipper ready to walk to Anfield. Adam, who scored a late penalty in Blackpool’s 2-1 defeat at home to Sunderland yesterday, has told the club he is determined not to miss out on a dream move to Merseyside. Blackpool boss Ian Holloway said he would allow Adam to move only to a top-four club, but Liverpool were “an exception.” Dalglish is ready to go back for the 25-year-old Scot after having a £4m bid turned down. But he will get a frosty reception from Holloway. He said: “These clubs who have made an offer for Charlie had better start putting a ‘1’ in front of the complete rubbish they have been offering so far. If Darren Bent is worth £24m how much is Charlie worth?” http://www.people.co.uk/sport/football/foo...02039-22868935/ |

If we didn't manage to bring in any player by the end of the January transfer window, I would like to see Liverpool sacking Mr "Transfer-Strategy-Man" Comoli as well. I don't see the point of him sitting in Liverpool's office doing nothing.. I know we may not have Man City's bank, but Kenny or any manager would have done this by themselves; sitting and waiting for players to come? whats happened to the babel deal? he was not included in last nights squad. as for charlie adam, if they're expecting more than 10m quid for him i think we should look elsewhere. and as for suarez, i highly doubt we will splash 20mil for him.. i think kenny will look for players already based in england.

Interesting to see if we extend King Kenny's stay after this season since Comoli is said to favour young managers. I do think he needs to work harder at picking up bargains though. Suarez and Adams are already players who are sought after. |

There's a lot of positives from that video. The number of passes for me was just icing on the cake. Im impressed that we didnt try to force an open by going for a quick cross or going for corners. Pleased to see we opted to drag them out our their half by making some close quarter passes - enticing them to press us. Its showed patience and control which has been missing in this team for quite some time.
Its a good example that you dont need fancy holywood passes to score goals. Lucas, for example here was effective in what he does best. He is constantly an outlet in the central mid, providing defensive and offensive support. Take notice on how men in red shirts constantly moving around creating triangles. Look at the fluidity in both Merelies and Lucas movements. Merelies playing in the more advanced midfield role, always trying to expand the triangles. Lucas remained deeper to provide anchor for the triangles. Just simple game of pass and move football. Video also illustrates why Kuyt is still an important figure in our team. Just look at the amount of ground he covered in this video. He first received the ball on the far right of the pitch but he ended up ghosting at the opposite side of the pitch when he made the run towards the goal. This was the 90th min and you clearly see he was knackered. His desire to keep up with the momentum of the game is why manager after manager persisted in starting him ahead of others. |

somebody posted the video, but here's the words from King Kenny himself.
Liverpool had just beaten Wolves 3-0, the first win for Kenny Dalglish since his return as the Reds' manager, with goals from Fernando Torres - a brace - and Raul Mereiles. It moved Liverpool back into the top half of the table and came through a display that was a delight to watch, despite one or two nervy moments. CelebrationIt was a day to remember. It's pretty safe to say that Sky Sports' Andy Burton won't forget the day in a hurry either. He was given the job of doing the post-match interviews and after chatting to Kenny for a couple of minutes about the game itself he couldn't resist trying to get a question in about possible transfer targets. He sounded a little nervous in asking, but he tried to make it sound like he wasn't asking for his own sake: "Kenny just a final thought allow me to ask if I can about transfers which may be coming up this week. Are you aware of what might be happening in the next few days particularly with Charlie Adam? A lot of the fans watching the show today will want to know if that is getting closer." Kenny's face was a picture. And then he replied: "Well it's a bit sad when you spin it onto the fans. "We know more about our fans than what yourselves do. So we know how they want to be treated and they know what we want. "They want us to treat them with respect and they want us to treat them the way Liverpool fans have always been treated by the club. "And that's if we've got business to do we'll do it behind closed doors and once we've got a story to tell about anybody then we'll let you know. "But we've no stories to tell about anything. "I know what's going on, but it doesn't mean to say I've got to tell you." Kenny smiled. Andy Burton pointed the microphone back his own way and, with the rather shaky voice of someone wishing they'd been left in charge of the touch-screens back at HQ, said: "No problem, thanks a lot." "Pleasure," said Kenny. And it was a pleasure, a pleasure for Liverpool supporters across the world to see. Kenny was back, in more ways than one.
