ok, if i do the wipe thing. how will i be able to bring back my old apps and sms, emails?

so, whats your overall personal view about both ROM?

Apps i used App2SD and titanium backup.
SMSes i didnt backup much. only important ones using Catch Notes; unless you have Handcent Donate.

Emails dunnit. cos i used gmail and google contacts, i just have to resync after i baked my new ROM, and my contacts and emails will come back by itself.

compare with my 3gs..when in 2 bar signal,my 3gs load more faster then my galaxy s..its 20-30 seconds more faster n sometimes when fail to load.. swt..

Use titanium backup or mybackup to backup your files

You can use SMS Backup & Restore from the Market.

Been using this to backup all SMS & MMS and restore with no problems.

Use Appbrain to sync all the apps. Can find back all the apps that is installed in Market.

Darky is pretty good, but with 9.x, I have this feeling that's it has become a bit bloated. It's not a slow ROM by any means, but I like my things lean and mean. Was considering Insanity ROM because it seemed like the leanest one this side of CyanogenMod but I was intrigued by Doc's online kitchen too.

With the kitchen ROM at only 148MB and with most of the Samsung shite not included, I am a happy man. Doc's ROM doesn't feel any faster than Darky's, IMHO, but I am hoping for a lower battery drain since most of the inbuilt stuff is no longer there.

Also, I wanted to go up to JS3 firmware but Darky's only at JPY till now..

im at darky v9.0.2 wif voodoo already...
so far not bad...hvnt try d new launcherpro menu switching style yet...
anyway interface wise is a bit nicer than v8.0...
performance not so sure cz im nt tat demanding...batt life duno yet..

handcent can only backup if you have PAID FOR THE DONATION.
otherwise go for the SMS backup app the others have suggested,

Yeah, +1 Like. I have switched to Doc as well, much more flexible. Using JP3 modem now because it is for Asian, is JPY modem better?

Have not really been playing with the different modems so I can't answer your question. I am a sucker for the letter/number sequence - in my deluded mind, JPY feels like a higher rev than JP3, just like how JS3 is higher than JPY ha ha..
