What else can i do?? I cannot reduce my cpu vcore anymore as it will blue screen.
*
CPU PLL Voltage: 1.8V => 1.7v or lower, this will reduce the temp.
VRM Fixed Frequency Mode: 350 => 400-550, this might reduce ur vcore.

It will reduce slightly by 1-2c only. But still an improvement. I'm using 1.6v for CPU PLL.

But of course investing on better cooling eg water guarantees a more significant improvement. biggrin.gif

I'm using H70 as cooler.
*
Don't play with CPU PLL volt first, increase vCore instead.
Memory Frequency: Auto -> change to 1600

First time oc with a i2500K on p67a-ud3-b3
this mobo has serious vcore drop issue >>
i have to set at 1.40v to get a fluctuating 1.33 to 1.36v @ 4.5kghz

bios setting that i changed

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

i cant put 1.395v at all cus if will fluctuate below 1.32v = bsod
and the cpu-z is not cooperating >> as core voltage keep at 1.068v

wanna ask is there a way to get a more stable vcore?
and did miss out on anything?
*
I don't think there's a way to help on vCore reduction if ur chip really loves voltage.
But u must accept the fact that Giga mobos fluctuate so much on vCore, bad voltage regulation.

The CPU-Z is actually showing VTT aka VCCIO = 1.068V, which is a bug for latest Giga BIOS. nod.gif

try 1.45v, if passed then slowly reduce down till u get the lowest stable point.

sifu do you recommend mobo auto voltage for overclock? hmm.gif
i run prime95 its voltage sometimes 1.34 sometimes 1.43
4.8ghz nh d14 asrock z68 extreme 4...
*
not all the time mobo adjusts optimally for u, best is to set it urself.
if it's stable at 1.34v then u might try manually set in BIOS.
but don't forget about the LLC as this will control the level of vdroop/vdrop when load.

watch out the temp it is over 90C dy... shocking.gif
try higher VRM freq say 550 etc u might get lower vCore.

Gigabyte G1 Sniper 2 (z68) vs Asus Maxiumus IV extreme (p67)... which one is better buy ?

Does not have the budget to go for Extreme-Z.

Btw, will Maximus IV gene Z fare against gigabyte Sniper 2 ? Planning to find a board with onboard x-fi.  laugh.gif

Grab Asus anytime bro.
Giga BIOS is problematic nowadays still cannot fix the multilevel LLC and has serious fluctuating vCore.

I see bro...

narrow down to maximus extreme iv vs extreme iv-z ...

what do u think .. p67 or z68... since maximus p67 around 1.1k nowadays.. while z68 version around 1.4k.
yeah, just read on review site.  hmm.gif

Giga looks lot of features, but BIOS no good  sad.gif
*
P67 vs Z68
if u don't need QuickSync, onboard GPU and SSD caching just go for P67.
OC-wise, VCCSA & VCCIO is tied together on Z68, in which I found it harder to play with as compared to the stand alone P67.
BIOS is everything for OCing. Thumb down on Giga. sad.gif

Do we need 1600Mhz RAM to go with overclocked the 2500k? Or 1333Mhz is just fine? since we only deal with multiplier.
*
U can OC 2500K by increasing core multiplier without touching the RAM multiplier and speed.

Both multipliers work independently. BCLK clocking is another thing.

nop, i oc in uefi.
*
Hard to comment without BIOS settings info.
Looks like ur mobo is doing double post before booting into windows, what can be confirmed is a failed OC due to wrong settings, since u got a normal boot on stock clocks.

Try OC just the CPU clock aline, leaving RAM speed etc to auto. Be sure to pump enough vcore. Dont touch other voltages yet.
Enable CPU spread spectrum if it's turned off.
Always google for BIOS settings shared by others.

mine also, the red bios screen flash two times before loading windows.
*
that is not double post/boot
In BIOS settings, find settings for "Onboard Devices" and look for "JMicron and Marvell" etc. You should see they have options under them called “Display OPROM” or "Display OptionROM in Boot". Just disable those. All of them. U don’t need them for now.

So i've just moved on to Intel yesterday and i've overclocked my i5 2500k from 3.3ghz to 4.6ghz.
I don't know about intels maximum temperature so i think for now i'll just make it as high as 60 celcius.
If there's no problem on higher temperature i would love to do so.

Chassis : Haf 912 Advanced
Mobo : Asus P8Z68-V
CPU : i7 2500k
CPU Cooler : Coolermaster V6

below is my screenshot of my CPU-Z and HWmonitor.
I do notice that the sensors on my mainboard is somewhat incorrect so i'll be focusing on the CPU core temp.

So is the temperature okay for now?
Are there more rooms for OC'ing for me?
*
Ur temps look good for 24/7 and still got more room for further OC.

My CPU Vcore = 1.305V, 4300MHz
Running Prime95 64-bit max can go up 70 celcius

Is that okay?

I want to stick my Vcore around 1.3V don't want increase much temperature. What is the Max core ratio i can put? I tried prime95 with 1.305V + 4500MHz get BSOD..

or 4300MHz is the best for 1.3V Vcore?
*
Different CPU behaves differently.
There are some ppl could stress 4.5GHz with just 1.25v on load. But there are some others can only clock 4.5GHz at 1.35v etc.. All u should do is try and error.

70C is still fine since u wont get this high in 24/7 routine.

+ power draw & TNB bill biggrin.gif

It is not easy to prime at long hour without an error as well. It will fail or BSOD after a few hours.

lol... anyhow i think best to try 2hrs cus sometime bsod kick in after 90 mins

btw in oc.net they keep say bsod 124 is actually abt cpu pll voltage~ but no advise to increase or decrease it
*
BSOD 124 is something related to vCore, CPU PLL or VCCIO/VTT

i saw in OCN thread mention change wat wat frequency to 350 + spread spretum will reduce vcore.
*
if u look at AI suite, enabling spread spectrum will actually block u from changing the VRM freq.
but in BIOS settings, u can set them independently ie. VRM 350MHz and spread spectrum ON rclxub.gif
btw, I'm using 550MHz + SS ON, as 350 will give me more BSOD 124.

2nd try 4.4ghz
Nice! rclxms.gif
But i believe u're not going to use this clock for 24/7.
As the temp is quite toasting.
Looking for 4.5GHz drool.gif
