just out of curiosity, how much you guys earn a month to be able to afford a CL that charges 3.5-3.8k for 28 days. with Ang pau its almost RM4k...
My mom is a CL and she charges that much a month (higher than my salary sad.gif) She always say when i married and got my baby, she give 50% discount la.
I always tell her no nid. why people are so willing to spend so much money just to get a old lady to cook for them and take care of the baby??

I believe you guys should be able to get help from your parents and in-laws right? since they also gave birth and raised you up nicely.
*
Not really. Like my mum has her own full time job and MIL is busy taking care of my hubbys other siblings and father, so I have to hire CL. Cannot afford also have to afford, no choice.

Would like to recommend our CL. She's from Kuching, Sarawak, currently engaged with us. Has worked overseas, Singapore, Taiwan, Australia, etc as CL. Also has certificate in handling baby care. So far, her service is ok. Can call her, Aunty Mary: 0109677298 / 0168666579

I would like to recommend/refer my confinement nanny to this forum.
Her name is May, a malaysian.

May charges very reasonably and she do for local and overseas (overseas different charges of course)
She is very systematic, neat and clean, she is easy, she is not the calculative sort and i must say she has great initiative, and she has a very positive attitude. She is not the gossip sort and she has great adapting skills.

Most importantly she is very experienced and very patient. She is good with her cooking for mommy who needs alot of nourishing and she handles baby really well. It is very comfortable to have her around.
As i am doing total breast feeding, she knows what and what not to cook for me which at this point food consumption is very important as what i eat is what the baby feeds.

During her stay, she does all the marketing.
She cooks for my hubby and myself. If my hubby do not want confinement food, she is able to make something different. Just let her know what to do or make. I stay with my family but during the confinement period they are mostly away. However when they are back, May will cook for them also. I normally will work on the menu with her. For me she cooks only 2 meals as i am not someone who wants a heavy breakfast. But if you want her to make all 3 meals she can.

She do the laundry for baby, hubby and me. She dont do ironing. But she will fold the clothes neatly.
She sweeps and mops the floor, also she cleans the bathroom for me. We didnt request her to do all these but she did it out of her own initiative.
Also with her vast experience, she is a good source when you are uncertain with what's up with the newborn. she will teach and guide you. I learnt alot from her.

I was lucky to have her even though i contacted her last min but fortunately she is free to do for me.
She is suppose to fulfill a month (4 weeks) confinement but i extended her for another two weeks. I would love to extend her for another month but she is travelling and after that, she has an overseas confinement duty. Honestly i have no idea what will i do when she leaves.

My family ( my parents and hubby) and i are fond of her and she really love our boy. I am sure we will miss her and her food.

I strongly recommend her and if i have a #2 i definitely get her back.
You may wish to contact her at 98646165 or +60127055420

Any confinement lady that is highly recommended by you? do state it here including info like where, cost, what's included in the package and overall review of the CL's services.

There is one that we highly recommend - stern but gentle and knowledgeable. But if anyone wants have to PM or reply me cos at this moment on the keyboard I dont have the contact - wife has.

But be forewarned - not easy to get her - may have to schedule or book - well good service is hard to come by nowadays - like that loh

For the good confinement lady, it's a blessing to have her helps

However after read the threads and some other website, and some have nasty experience with confinement lady and they charge minimum RM 3k for 1 month.

And the mother are OK to be bullied by the confinement lady and yet pay the RM 3k + ang pow even if the confinement lady does not do her work...
Is this a norm and acceptable practise to pay a full amount with ang pow even if the confinement lady does not do her work? hmm.gif hmm.gif
Btw, 3+k a lot of $$$.... sweat.gif

Hi all,

I am new here. Brief introduction. Just registered my account today. I am currently 26 weeks preggers with my 2nd one. Due in mid April 2013.

I would like to know, what is the market rate for a non-live-in CL for 1 month. She:
1) comes around 9am, leaves around 6pm (maybe)
2) prepares my bath water, meals and soups/red dates drinks
3) does very light house work (sweep/mop floor only)
4) needless to say, handle the baby (general tasks as in bathing, feeding, attending to the baby, etc)
5) MIGHT get 1 day off (she still comes in the morning to cook my meals and then she can leave already for the day. Say, every Sunday?)

Anyone out there who can give me a reply today? It's becoz I'll be seeing 1 lady tomorrow (recommended by my 1st baby's nanny). so I need to know the rate. To those who wonder why I post this question last minute when in fact, I'll be seeing her tomorrow, well, thats becoz I use simple mathematics to count the price. Market price for a full time CL is around RM3500 (exclude angpau) now, ya? So for non-live-in part time CL, I just divide half and assume the price is RM2000 (exclude angpau). I am just assuming, but I still need your answer here. To be honest, I feel RM2000 for a lady doing the above is a lot already.

Please help. Thanks.

Is it because we Chinese are too pampered? Malay, Indian doesn't have CL. even American, Australian don't hire CL... never wonder how they survive?

Malay has CL who do full day and half day + the urut and bekam

Indian I'm not too sure. But I think they also have their own traditions after giving birth. I know they always massage the baby when the baby is very young. Not sure why.

I have a confinement lady staying with us now and she's the best thing to happen. Very good with the baby, cooks and cleans and teaches us how to take care of the baby. My only complain is that she's too efficient and I don't get a chance to wear my clothes more than once. She's from Malacca, and charges a little more than usual... oh and she loves the dog too...
