hello guys, i'm thinking replacing stock Z5500 sub-woofer to this Pioneer TS-W258D4 10" and i'm wondering how much will it cost and more importantly, it won't blow up the amp?

thank you.

compare orignal logitech 10inch vs kicker 15inch now logitech 10inch woofer i set sub max and volume 4 bar half not 70% so normail sound bass not much louder so kicker 15inch i set sub max and volume 4 bar i see abit louder more bass then orignal logitech woofer 10inch so i set volume 70% sub max orignal logitech woofer i seen louder and kicker 15inch i set 70% volume and sub max i see more louder damm and more bass very superb then orignal logitech woofer 10inch and orignal logitech woofer 10inch i set volume full i seen louder and kicker 15inch i belum try set volume full for kicker 15inch i think will be more more louder then orignal logitech woofer 10inch next time my house no people i will try volume full for my kicker 15inch  smile.gif
that i set subwoofer max and volume 70% more louder more bass very clear very clean

For those who have Z906, do you encounter this issue where only the front left and right speakers work fine but If i play the musics with 3D effect then only rear speakers do have very faint sound, no voices though just the music, and can only hear it if you put your ear to the speakers.
However, if i set the effect on 4.1, the sound coming from the rear 2 are good, but i get no sound from center. Sound test from Windows is good, each sattelite speaker and sub can be clearly identified.

Iam on Windows 7 + SP1,
tested on latest driver with Realtek HD and Xfi xtrememusic, still same.

p/s: could it due to iam playing those musics only have stereo channel?

that is normal. what you're explaining is called upmix. the panel on the Z906 may only allow you to upmix to either of those preset 3D stereo or 4.1 Stereo.

unless you use other software that allow you to upmix your stereo music into 5.1, then that's all you can get. in my experience, upmix ruins your music. it may sound good in some songs, but certainly not all.

but in case you're interested, you can use channelmixer from foobar2000 to control how your front, center, rear and subwoofer sound.

I have an old set of Logitech z5400, the amp was spoilt but the satellite speakers still in good condition. Recently i bought z906, so can i plug all the z5400 satellite speakers at the back of z906 amp to make "dual" of 5.1? will it overload z906 amp?

Added on November 7, 2012, 9:44 pmhow to fully utilize and exploit the potential of z906 and Xfi Xtrememusic sound card so i can play 5.1 all the time.
Currently setup is analog with PAX Master Default tweak 2.35.
When plug jack-RCA, 3D effect make the sounds faint! Why Z906 force me to select the effect?

hi sifus,
I have a Z5500', recently the woofer burnt my first fuse (came with the woofer) and i have replaced it as specification

but still it burns every new fuses I inserted. Anyone know what is the exact problem? The speaker's warranty is dead and Logitech dont even bother me about when I email them.

Anyone have the exact problem before? If yes did you manage to fix it?
If yes, please let me know.

Many thanks!

Looks like it. The Z5500 is more that 10 years old, and even the Z906 is 9 years old. It's too bad Logitech doesn't make good speaker sets like the Z5500 anymore.

Anyway, in hopes that somebody will see this and revive this thread, my Logitech Z5500 recently kicked the bucket. Any recommendations for a replacement? Z906? Edifier? Creative? hmm.gif

Hopefully not, for those who are still using the Z5500 as main speakers.

I often use it before going into hifi/passive speakers/amp around 2017, which then my Logitech Z5500 became less used and paired with my PS3. I still turn it on once in a while, maybe few months once. But this year, I noticed the satellite speaker sounds became 'soft' ... took off the protection cover, was dismayed to find that the driver cone rubber/foam got holes ... not eaten by insects I think, just became dried and brittle ... only the centre speaker still ok ... maybe it was 'used' more? The room I put it in isn't exposed to bright sunlight, it's quite dark in fact, but can be hot (on 2nd floor).
Anyway, the only way to fix the satellite speakers (all 4) are to refoam them.

Replacement for Z5500 ar unsure.gif ... imho, the similar set of speakers that last time often mentioned can fight Z5500 is Edifier S760D (RM2K+)
https://www.edifier.com/my/en/speakers/s760...gaming-speakers
but like Z5500, it can only support the basic Dolby Pro Logic II, Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS 5.1

Recent entry level HT AV amp with 5.1 passive speakers+sub-woofer (mix n match your favourites, change/upgrade if spoilt) should be able to support more formats, including Dolby Atmos but maybe need RM5K+ budget (or just RM2.7K for starters), but more worth it since you've experienced Z5500 before, and maybe now wish for something more.

Hey R2T2, thanks for replying to my post. I was thinking of getting a complete AVR plus speakers but settled for the Logitech Z906 instead. Saved myself some cash compared to going the home theater route.

Recently my z5500 control pod started giving problems. Will suddenly go blank. Then it died totally. Apparently the cirrus chip died. After around 13 years of good service.
Was really reluctant to throw out the good speakers and sub (thx certified man), so this is what I did

I bought a Yamaha rx-v6a, hooked up the satellites to it. Made a bypass cable for the sub. It is now in 5.1 form, but I will buy 2 additional bookshelf speakers soon to make it a 5.1.2 system.

I ordered some speaker foam surrounds from shopee. They just arrived. I will refoam the speakers, including the 10" sub, as they are disintegrating.

The satellites are 60w 8ohm and the sub is 180w. They work really well with the Yamaha avr, especially after the automatic configuration.

If your control pod is dead, you can also make a bypass cable for the amp in the sub. Basically a direct 6 channel connection to the amp. I decided to get an avr cos I wanted to upgrade to Atmos. I think it's a good way to still use the excellent speakers. The sub low pass cutoff is 100hz, which is a bit high, but can be adjusted. The satellites are full range, though they lack separate tweeters, but again the avr can compensate for that.
