I dunno some ppl dunno what are they talking ! I am a owner of z logitech z-5500D ! I am using Optical cable to connect my decoder to my external sound card Audigy NX i use it as a pass thru so the logitech decoder can do its job. The sound is just amazing

For Music - I use Stereo X2 with Foobar player for the amazing sound

For Movie I use Ac3 Filter passthru for to auto decode when i run any movie file. It never sound so wonderful ever.

Jerren prefer coax I Prefer optical i dont bother touching anything beside optical except if i am playing games.
It just sound crappy with the PLII

I dont have any problem with my speakers i just love it every bit of it..

First you need to get an optical cable thats for me (For my configuration) then install Window Media Classic then in the creative software i use as passthru so my decoder gets to decodes the signal.
Then i install Ac3Filter (all this u can get by googling it its free) When the decoder detects a digital signal you see appearing on da decoder such as DD DIGITAL or DTS digital ! I usually download my movies from the internet so my room is like my personal cinema to me + 24inch LCD i am quite happy with it. For DVD u can use window media classic the decoder will automatic understand it !


Have u guys listen to 5.1 ch Music ! If you guys wanna test it on your 5.1 let me know i have kept quite an amount of files to test your audio. I suggest use logitech z-5500D Decoder.

i tried download the soundstorm its just 3mb the audio sounds like any file i play or maybe because i am using Optical STEREO X2.

the 5.1 i am talking really 5.1 surround the files format are in DD or DTS . You can really feel the surround

I got it hook up via optical.


For the two other speaker i just put two small table each side with the speaker on it

I dunno i think my z-5500D subwoofer not strong enough maybe the location i put no suitable.

If you have z-5500D make sure you use foobar the sound is even more amazing and for movie make sure you use window media classic with ac3filiter

or anyone have better recommendation? I use optical connectivity

yea it is . It just sound better compare to other players and there's another plugin for foobar make it sound even better more clarity surround. Should try optical clearer and sharper than analog.

I use windows media classic for movies.

could it be cable? try switch the cable around?

my fuse never burn after 1 1/2 years. Fuse burn is a protection if not your speaker gone edi

sigh thats what i worry about my z-5500D too its good to know who can repairs it. My LCD screen now not clear because the light inside a few burn edi

our logitech z-5500D price really stays when i bought the time retail price was still RM1450 now still RM1450.

I got mine for RM 1,200 because i know a fren inside.
Anyway whats the best sound card for logitech z-5500D? I need a replacement for the sound card for movies/gaming 5.1 and music

i only notice got humming sound if i the volume max and dont play any song. Below than that no sound like normal

worth every penny le. I still using z-5500D pair with Asus Xonar. If i downgrade it will never be the same again

How sure are u its not working? Have u try it with other player? There is a possibility sound card problem.

I dunno what u talking the backlight auto on all the while. Can you teach me how to turn it off.

i never had any burn fuse before only the problem with LCD only.

did u check your pc volume maybe u accidentally turn it down?

My subwoofer 80% center 69% volume 40- 250% also no problem

Here this is an excellent seller i got it from him.

First Asus Xonar support EAX5 or simliar output but using their own technology.

Second If you play with optical output Asus Xonar comes with the input.

Third If you ask me after i listen to X-FI and Xonar and price tag i will go for Xonar. Try it to believe it i got no regrets getting mine,.

Yes you can. There is this option to enable surround via analog or optical

I seldom use stereo surround to listen song i only use that mode for movies.
Music i use Stereo X2 . If you are using a z-5500D i suggest you use ASIO + foobar i bet after u tried that you will never use windows media player again.
