what do you mean by performance? do you mean music quality?
EMU or Audiotrak would be a good choice for quality but it doesn't help with frame rates not that I remember off (with my setup).

Some people in some forum says that the built in decoder for Z5500 is crappier then soundcard such as A2ZS or A4 Pro. But that's what they say .. who knows. sweat.gif Have to ask owners of Z5500 here. biggrin.gif

hi I have just repurchased my 5500s cos the last time i had it the bass and sound levels were so low they were like 4 times less than the 680s that i used to own...However now i am again encountering the same problem i cant believe it!!!!Im using the nforce2 MCP-T soundstorm soundacrd inbuilt on my mboard which is supposed to be really compatible with these speakers.I even purchased an optical cable to get digital sound. However the sound still remains the same(it detects all the inputs and effects though but the sound and bass especially is veryyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy low!!!!!).I plugged in the direct channel and switched inputs...same result.Im starting to wonder if these speakers are supposed to sound this way but i Really doubt it.So i tried it on my friend'a laptop and the sound was the same:(((((( Im really worried and I really feel like just sending it back and trading it in for the 680s again:((but before i do that i wanna ask if anyone out here can help me.i havent posted here in like a year so i dont have time to read all the posts so if someone could help me that would be great. my driver version is 4.57...if anyone is using this setup pls lemme know....I hope someone out here can help thanks alot!!!:)
also if anyone has switched over from the 680 to the 5500 do u find this a problem?
also the last time when i had the 680s i was using audigy1 DE and now im using the onboard soundstorm with optical cable.last time i was using coax...so if anyone can share their experience or help me out that would be greatlah cos im really confused now how come the sound n bass levels so suck:((((

halo. i got problem with my z-680 i bought a week ago. after breaking in for few days, i started to play high bass song with subwoofer volume max, system volume max, then speaker volume only at 50%... then i heard some rattling sound (kRRk kRRk KRRk) from the speaker. at 40% the speaker still sound sweet n can shake my table.

so is my speaker defective or all malaysian z-680 also like this? kinda worried because my z-640 still in lowyat being repaired becoz got rattling sound even at low volume.

u cant put ur bass n system volume at max la..u will spoilt any speaker in ur hand doh.gif

this is not the way 2 play wit speaker..u will hurt it alot doh.gif

my advice is..subwoofer volume at 50% or slightly more(depends on ur liking)..then system volume at 70%-75%..speaker at 50%-75% smile.gif

i owned a z5300 and if what they say is true, all logitech systems share the bloody noisy bass. i cant imagine you even thinking of adding more bass! laugh.gif

anyway, the 'THX Certified' multimedia speakers are just pure nonsense. it means nothing smile.gif

edit: i forgot to tell you, you basically paid logitech who paid Lucasarts for the cert. the multimedia THX cert is a waste of money too, though we cant choose wheter to have it or not whistling.gif

edited to be more specific towards THX mutimedia. sweat.gif

yes, ive typed it correctly. logitech's latest project are a 5.1 set with wireless rear speakers, apart from what im reading here [I KNOW I KNOW, people say they're not trustworthy], there isnt much information on the net either. logitech has yet to officially announce it. it should retail at a recommended price of 500USD. im curious wheter its a completely new system or just another modified and face lifted z5500.

Actually THX Multimedia certification means nuts. It's not quite as easy to get a THX home theater or THX Cinema certification.
