^ I do it 2 ways

1) Lightroom 3.2 for RAW

2) Take a piece of white paper and set the white balance to program mode. Then shoot the white piece of paper. if the metering comes out the word "GOOD" then I am good to go.

^ I actually misread. LOL sorry about that.

Anyway I have no idea on customizable Colour balance. While I do thought that White balance does effect the colour balance of a picture.

Anyway for D3, other than the preset of white balance, you can choose to program your own white balance, so that's how you set one on a D3, use a piece of white paper.

yes u can do. all u need is external flash. mine was using SB900 but for indoor with common (not too high) any flash will do. set ur shutter around 60 - 100, since kit lens, i prefer to stay it fixed at F5.6. then lastly set ur ISO with the situation. my condition there is low light so i set 800 or 1000 forgot ed.

if u flash bounce nicely, wallah there u gooo smile.gif

yes aperture will effect the sharpness. kit lens will be sharpest at F7.1 - 9 IIRC but remember its all depends on what u gonna shoot coz some picture need bokeh and some dont need smile.gif

You can say the HD is improved version of Pro1D with the hard coating on the exterior.
