QUOTE(chuppy2 @ Jan 8 2011, 12:55 AM) what algae, picture please. Chuppy, I am not too sure is this BBA or GSA. It started from the glosso's root and up to the leaf. I try to rub off with finger but now it spread too fast and almost all the glosso affected. It looks like a brown or some black coating on the leaves. Another photo is my hemiathus also have same problem. When i bought it back the leaves all look very greenish but now the whole plant was covered with the black coating. Any method to handle this algae? Real headache now as too new in planted tank. Many thanks. This post has been edited by douge: Jan 9 2011, 12:24 AM Attached thumbnail(s)

Getting Started

How long is your photo period and how frequent do you water change? and How much you water change?
How big is the tank, what fishes are in there.
What are your lights, what are your c02 dosing method.
And finally, what are you dosing.
Cheers

Hello guys, Just done my first API liquid pH test and came out to be 8.0pH!
1)Currently just planted the tank with DIY pump co2 and planning to buy some shrimp. I understand shrimps will be most happy at around 6.5pH. Is there any other method to lower down pH without using all those chemicals and co2??
2)Is that normal for pH8.0 tap water in PJ area?? How about GH/KH for PJ area?? Anyone knows? Thanks!

anyone had fry in your planted tank? do u actually provide them daphnia, infusoria or brine shrimp for those fry? and by providing those food to your fry, you are putting in dirty water(daphnia, infusoria) and salty water(brine shrimp) into your planted. will this affect the overall system? by the way these food is so small that no way u can miss a single drop of those water into your tank.
