FYI.Saw few otto at EA Mid Valley today. Not many left. Think only 2-3. Price at RM 5.

By the way, planning to get Canister filter. Jet Canister 3358 is better or Shiruba X303? Price almost same.

Thanks

saw few at 88 near dataran prima.
Would prefer Shiruba x303 cost RM138.

Start seeing some algae in my tank. Already have yamato, otto and flying fox but still can not handle it. Shall i put algae remover liquid or just rescape?

what algae, picture please.

Chuppy,

I am not too sure is this BBA or GSA. It started from the glosso's root and up to the leaf. I try to rub off with finger but now it spread too fast and almost all the glosso affected. It looks like a brown or some black coating on the leaves.

Another photo is my hemiathus also have same problem. When i bought it back the leaves all look very greenish but now the whole plant was covered with the black coating.

Any method to handle this algae? Real headache now as too new in planted tank.

Many thanks.

How long is your photo period and how frequent do you water change? and How much you water change?

How big is the tank, what fishes are in there.

What are your lights, what are your c02 dosing method.

And finally, what are you dosing.

Cheers
*
PL Light 36W on for 8 hours a day, 6 months old.
Water change is once a week with 80% of water change.
Tank is 1.5feet. Water volume about 45liter.
CO2 is 1bbs on for 7.5 hours with control of solenoid. Using cylinder CO2 tank.
12 Cardnial, 2 pink zebra, 2 guppy, 3 otto, 2 flying fox and 3 Yamato. Thinking of add in another 2 Otto.

Started add in fertilizer about 1 month ago. Bought from World Aquatic during 2010 aqua fair held in KLCC. About 5ml a week.

I am using HOB filter and change the sponge every week. Put in PSB(photosynthesis bacteria) from OTTO after every water change. Add in bio ring in my HOB 4 months back.

Many thanks for your sharing.

Fongzai/Andrew,

Noted. Will only change 20% on my next WC. Many thanks.

Andrew,
The fertilizer is product from World Aquatic Ecosystem Sdn. Bhd.. I bought it from 2010 Aqua fair. This company said this product have not launch in the market. The product name is Power Growth.

Will HOB filter cause the algae due to poor water circulation?

thanks

Andrew,

Unfortunately it did not list out the content. Just a normal info like the dosage and what is the benefit of using this product....Too bad... Until now i have not seen they launch this product. Maybe is failure product......

Any particular reason? I have 6 in my tank now. Will increase to 10-12. Nothing much for them to eat now.
You will be surprised with my water change..It is not recommended to do large water change but if do it correctly, everything should be fine. I always re-seed my tank with bacteria after large water change.

Prox,

thanks ya

Yes it was a bit expensive. But the hair and thread algae was getting on my nerves. Have to clean the tank every 3 -4 days, and seeing 30 cm long strands in my tank was not very pleasing. grumble.gif

But most importantly, I'm going back to Kuala Terengganu on the 5th of February, 3rd day of Chinese new year, so I think most of the LFS will still be closed. And also the toll money and petrol of getting to the LFS from my place is not cheap. As if I want to bring back here, I need to go to SS19 before I go to the airport, which will add another hour to my journey. I usually get them right before the flight so I won't have any casualities. So in my shoes, its not that expensive if you take in consideration all the factors.  blush.gif  blush.gif

You can carry fauna and flora into the flight? Check in or hand carry? Thought it is not allow.

Hello welcome,
fiona i would recommended you cycle your tank 1st before put in fish to stress them... and if you want to start a planted tank ,
for 2 feet aquarium i would recommended canister filter.. over filter is provide the good deliverance of fert for more information
below is the link that recommended to you to have some reading

Souce : http://www.littlegreencorner.com/tipsFilteration.html

about the all in one fert, yes it is cheap but one thing is uncontrollable, if you over dose algae will come easily or you less dosage, the plant wont have enough fert...
and about the substrate, just amazonia regular will do, dont need those power sand... this is cost budget suggestion =)
lastly please take note.... Filter is Heart of Aquarium... so invest in a canister if you wanna go for planted tank...

IMO,
these is the minimum requirement for starting planted tank to invest in

1. Canister Filter RM200 can get a good one already MIC brand =)
2.Substrate ADA 9liter RM88 regular type enough for 2 feet starter tank ( dont need slope yet =) maybe can do abit slope hehe )
3. Co2 ( RM 200  already can get 3kg + Manual Regulator )
4. Light ( RM 35 for a 2 feet PLL 55Watt MIC brand , buy at Electrical shop... DO NOT GO FISH SHOP BUY... they WILL POTONG U !! )
