I tried it again.
did the following:
1. factory reset
2. hard reset
3. start in downloading mode.
4. start flashing - should auto reboot and protect ops be checked?
5. at around 3 minutes it restarts the phone and asks me to connect through kies or umps only?
6. i do nothing untill odin tells me it is finished.
7, i unplug and do another hard reset.
8 phone is as normal firmware including all samsung apps.

Seriously I'm lost with this. Someone needs to do a short tutorial from scratch. I am a noob when it comes to these sort of things. I guess it's best that I stay away from this and just stick to my standard Froyo doh.gif

i learned it the hard way. btw u need to specify ur PATH correctly in SYSTEM VARIABLES. if not adb wont detect, eg put ;C:\Program Files\Android\android-sdk-windows. Dont forget the semi colon

refer here for more info http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php?titl...the_Android_SDK
