Sorry what??? im quite noob at this...
what is a-GPS?? is it the one that use data??

How fast is ur Cold start lock with darky??

i using stock firmwares

1. How to enable the a-gps?? is it the one that says Use wireless networks?? does it realy work on papago or GPS status etc?? i thought it only works for the google maps thats it..
2. With the new firmware ur cold start is how long??? 120sec is till ok ... But thats just occasionaly... sometimes .. it dont lock at all even with 8 satalites found or more..
3. My inaccuracy is that the position kept changing ... difficult to explain this ...

I saw my frens iphone4 can lock on to the maps very fast... less than 10sec..
*
First off, let me declare first that I only use GPS for Foursquare, not for navigation since I don't really need this in Penang island.

Cold start under Darky is below 60 secs (I reboot my phone every day since I have 2 batteries and I swap them in and out on a daily basis).

1. The a-GPS function is enabled when you check the 'Use wireless networks' box under 'Location and security'. Yes it uses the GPRS/EDGE/3G/HSDPA network to assist in position locking. I also have 'Use GPS satellites' and 'Use sensor aiding' checked. a-GPS works well enough with Foursquare and Google Maps (latest 5.0 version).

2. I never actually check how many satellites are found, I just wait in Foursquare or Google Maps for my position to be locked in.

3. I've not experienced this but then again, as I said, I don't use GPS on the SGS for navigation.

iPhone4 does not really run a true multitasking OS, perhaps apps in front get a very big slice of CPU time hence faster response/lock-in?

1 question .... If i enable aGPS and GPS ..... will it be more accurate.. or will it make it less accurate?? issit good to on BOTH??
Should i go for darky or stick with stock firmware??
*
3 questions there, actually.

I think enabling the a part of GPS will help speed up locking in of your position. More accurate or not you need to test and feedback. I am on Digi unlimited data plan so I do not have to worry about data charges.

If you feel you are too noob, then stick to stock firmware. Darky is easy to install but noob may or may not like it.

how much do you pay monthly for your digi umlimited package? is it better than maxis data package?
*
No commitment needed for calls/sms/mms - meaning I pay just minimum RM68 per month for full speed 3G with 3GB quota per month. If I exceed the 3GB, my speed gets capped at 128kbps but no extra charge at all. Voice/Video Calls and SMS/MMS are charged pay per use.

Maxis has wider coverage and good speed sadly no more unlimited package offered anymore. Digi unlimited is cheaper than Telco C, Telco M and Telco U  tongue.gif
*
Maxis good speed? Wider coverage yes for sure, but speed is pretty shit for me (sometimes fast, but quite unstable). I have a Maxis Wireless Broadband micro-SIM in my iPad and my SGS with Digi has a more stable net connection than my iPad.

question about titanium backup.. never use it b4..

my question is.. is it if we do backup.. then let see if i factory reset my phone.. then i just apply the restore function.. all installed apps & games will be restore as usual?
*
As long as you don't format your internal SD (that's where the backups are kept) and you factory reset the phone and reinstall Titanium Backup, yes, the restore really works. For free version, restoration is tedious - every app restore will be prompted. For paid version, restoration is a breeze.

i never apply any kernel before
*
Yes the procedure is the same as long as you're installing the CWM version of the speedmod kernel.

CWM is d one with red fonts or green fonts?
sorry i really cant differentiate both...i only knw flash to darky mus boot to recovery e2?d one wif green fonts
*
Well, it's quite easy to differentiate - you do the power+home+volumeUp boot and the title of the recovery menu should be there.

I think the basic CWM recovery mode is with the green fonts. After you apply Darky > 6.0 though, the fonts become red. I guess you can say that CWM recovery mode is an enhanced version of 2e. As long as you see 'install zip from sdcard' you should be alright.

fornx, when using dropbox in our phone, can we copy or cut our files in dropbox and save it in our phone? and if we cut and move the files to the phone, it will disapper in dropbox and also in our pc folder right?
*
With the dropbox client on the phone, just navigate to the file you want then tap and choose download. A copy of the file will be downloaded and stored locally on your phone's internal SD under dropbox folder.

I've been using dropbox (on my Win7 laptop, Linux Mint 10 laptop, Ubuntu 10.04 PC, on the SGS) for months now, no need to cut paste here there.

btw, is it will applied the same to music files as well?..will it copy the music files to our internal SD or it only gonna stream the music file from the website?
*
Dropbox is a cloud storage sync solution, meaning when you install it on your PC, everything in a local folder will be synced online, e.g. My Documents \ My Dropbox.

On Android, the Dropbox client doesn't auto save files in your dropbox account to the internal SD - you choose what you want to download and it downloads the file for you.

Just try it to see if it suits your needs. Dunno about music streaming or sync since I don't really listen to music with my phone.

Hmm, weird, Speedmod K12F kernel lowers my Quadrant score (not that it's very critical) on Darky 7.6. Will monitor performance and battery life for the next couple of days..

I think the battery meter bug is still there, I charged to full, then with the phone display on, I pulled the charger cable - batt level immediately went down to 97%. Not a big problem, it's just 3-5%.

BTW, have to kinda agree with holypredator that GPS seems pretty screwed up on the SGS. Last night I was at a friend's place. I turned on my iPad (wifi+3g model) GPS and it locked my position down accurate to like 5-10m within 60 secs. The SGS, on the other hand, locked within 60 secs too, but showed my position to be about 400m away. Both devices using google maps.

Lucky I don't really use the SGS for drive/walk GPS navigation.

This battery bug is it JPY problem or speedmod k12f? Coz I notice after apply k12f, my battery drop from 100% to 99% immediately after unplug. Not a big problem though, coz overall it still drops about 4-5% overnight, the same as before..
*
Not sure there, bro. I applied speedmod as soon as I went up to Darky 7.6 so can't decide if it's speedmod's fault or the stock kernel in JPY.

When you exit the contacts after opening to make a call or browse, it will remain running. Have to use the task manager to end it.
*
Is it necessary to end the contacts app? I remember reading in some earlier posts that this has something to do with the newer Samsung Task Manager app.

Im on darky's 7.6, should i apply speedmod kernal K12F?
Is it good to use it with darky;s 7.6?
*
Seems to work fine (speedmod K12f + darky 7.6) - but do disable voodoo lagfixes first before applying speedmod.

If you're rooted and running MarketAccess or MarketEnabler to emulate US SIM, you can see it on the Market, for purchase USD3.31. I just searched for 'ADW ex' and found it.
