QUOTE(nasrulbond @ Jan 2 2011, 09:05 PM) LOL. btw how's the iOS treats u? one thing that i dont like being with android is the update for skype and yahoo messenger is way too slow. iOS already got the video calling for both, but our sgs is still non. so sad owh, haiyaa iPad no camera la. Anyway, I only use the iPad for gaming and for educational apps for my 2 yr old son. No productivity tool that one, web browsing also sucks because of no flash and java. Honestly speaking, I much prefer Android OS to iOS, because even when jailbroken, iOS sucks as an OS. Games-wise, iOS rocks!

QUOTE(nasrulbond @ Jan 2 2011, 09:26 PM) i see. thanks for the opinion. : ) now kinda a little bit have much faith with the android OS somehow. hehehe, its just that my parents think iphone 4 have advantages in those 2 apps, so they want to swap with mine sgs for next year so i can skype anytime with them(im in overseas btw). and i dont know how to decide. lol iOS platform has its advantages. The OS itself may be sucky in terms of sometimes even basic must-have features, in my opinion, but it has gpu-accelerated UI which means smooth animation/transition effects. Plus, Apple designs both hardware and software, so the two work very well together, especially when it comes to low power consumption. The iPad can really run almost 10 hours of non-stop gaming (tested by colleagues). The one thing Android platform loses big time for now is the availability of nice apps and games. Nothing really compares to iOS in this area. Other than that, I feel Android is better in all other aspects.

QUOTE(nasrulbond @ Jan 3 2011, 01:55 AM) the gps is okay for maps, and other apps like foursquare. but i never used navigation yet, so far for me its acceptable. Same here. I dunno how good navigation is, but I do know that position accuracy is not the best with the SGS - so far I've been getting 30m - 200m accuracy. Or maybe I'm just holding the phone wrong ha ha..

QUOTE(MYstombox @ Jan 3 2011, 03:17 AM) Anyone on froyo have this problem? This includes anyone using custom rom Try switching your network to 2G(GSM), once it has been changed to GSM. Can you switch it back to WCDMA? I can't, and can't seem to find out why. The only way I can switch is via debug menu. No problems switching between 2G and 3G here. The transition is a bit slow (both ways), but it works.

QUOTE(MYstombox @ Jan 3 2011, 04:11 AM) I can switch to GSM, but it won't get back to WCDMA. Any ideas? I'm on maxis. That could be the cause. I am on Digi. Seriously, I am not sure. For one, I used the settings menu to test the 2g-3g-2g set, since I don't have any widget or app to monitor data usage or do the network type change for me. Don't need any data control widgets because Digi doesn't charge for overquota usage. Do you use any tools like apndroid, 3gwatchdog etc? Did you disable HSDPA and enable UMTS using special codes on the phone? I didn't. Do a full backup and try resetting your phone to factory defaults (i.e. delete all settings and apps and data) - same problem with defaults?

QUOTE(jujx @ Jan 3 2011, 09:26 AM) what kind of bugs? I'm a satisfied 7.5 user, very lazy to change now since those upgrades are minimal. No matter, still my gatai > laziness. Downloading now, 6 minutes to go (ah, the wonders of RS premium account)..

QUOTE(MYstombox @ Jan 3 2011, 11:25 AM) I don't use any special menu to switch anything. Also from settings, and my phone just got clean factory reset and SD card also formatted. I dunno man. Could be due to area or telco.

Funny thing I am experiencing on Darky 7.8 - I had wifi left enabled when I went out today. Was outside trying to check-in using Foursquare and I found my 3G not working all of a sudden..
Looked at the notification bar and I saw the wifi icon on as if it was connected to a network, which it wasn't. And my H/3G icon was not there. Had to disable wifi to get 3G working again, weird..
Will need to test this again tomorrow. Usually I don't use wifi at all (I disable it most of the time) since Digi's 3G works fine enough..

QUOTE(janov @ Jan 4 2011, 11:35 AM) watch the video, quite interesting, really curious how the extended casing will look like. anyone here tried before? but if you dont want to use extended cover, then there is also a 1600mah version which only costs around RM100. i think the 3200mah will be quite an overkill but you might only need to charge every 2-3days, very useful if you travel a lot. hope to hear some feedback on this. i might want to get one once the current one starts to show a downtrend performance. or perhaps Samsung could just come up with a upgrade version of the battery; same size but maybe 1700mah or 1800mah. i believe the additional capacity will go a long way in helping prolong usage. but of cos, playing around with custom roms is still fun by the way, i was away mostly travelling in Thailand, rode from south all the way to north to the border of myanmar, was really fun and gps function was working, it showed the right location though i didnt check until accuracy of <500m. whatever it is, experienced road travellers dont use GPS, u either use a proper road map or common sense cos the GPS can sometimes give u the wrong way or the long way, just my 2cent. I bought myself a 1800mah clone batt from a China e-commerce site, aliexpress.com, I think it was. Same size as the stock 1500mah and works just as well (for now). Got it for USD9.99 plus shipping. The same site also lists a number of 3000mah and 3200mah and even 3500mah batts with extra fat back covers for sale.. Less than USD15 too. Carrying 2 batts fully charged (one active one standby) has been a life-saver for me.

QUOTE(janov @ Jan 4 2011, 03:37 PM) ok i checked it out, so far only 3 people from malaysia bought it before, one of them could be you....maniveloo? did u use credit card to pay? confirm its 1800mah right? i dont mind buying it just to try it out, for the price, what the heck!! Yes my friend.. That's me.. maniveloo is my dad's name ha ha. I used Paypal to pay if I remember correctly. I don't know if the batt is really 1800mah, but it does last about 1-1.5 hours longer than the stock batt.

QUOTE(reehdus @ Jan 5 2011, 09:12 AM) Hmm...I actually wanted to use a matte screen protector but removed it cause it got in the way of playing movies... Well, I had the phone without any SP for 6 months and finally caved in to getting an SP for it because my little son started to love playing with the phone. Couldn't decide to go matte or clear but in the end went for a matte SP. Damn, this RM80 Viva SP is not bad in protecting the screen from fingerprints and oil, but the actual display quality is a bit degraded - rainbow effect when white is displayed and significant blurring of the screen itself. Still compares well against my iPad (with a clear SP), but I do miss the naked screen..

QUOTE(blurjoey @ Jan 5 2011, 10:06 AM) Naked feels smooth to the touch Actually, as far as I remember, matte is smoother for swiping and other finger movements compared to naked. Really smooth. Speaking for recent experience, and a bit off-topic, I regret installing clear SP for my 64GB iPad - makes it hard to play games that need lots of finger swipes. The iPad before this one, the 16GB one, had a matte SP and everyone (my colleagues, my son, myself) loved playing games on it. Planning to tear off the clear and install a new matte SP.. So guys and gals, you want nice display, go for clear. You want smooth swipes, go for matte..

I bought my SGS in June (if I remember correctly) and only received an SMS about my e-warranty in Dec (12/12/2010 to be exact). This was the SMS content: 'Welcome to SAMSUNG E-Warranty. Warranty for IMEI XXXX 12/12/2010 - 11/12/2011. Need help, call SAMSUNG service consultants 1800-88-9999."Anyone else who purchased ori Maxis set received similar message?

QUOTE(KH Cheah @ Jan 8 2011, 03:23 PM) My experience wth darky. If u turn on ur wifi n browse, u lose 25% in an hour. I think that issue was with earlier Darky version, forgot which one. Wifi has not been a problem for me since the JPA wifi modules were incorporated into the JPY rom by the kernel guys @ xda-developers.
