First few games of the new season. Still looking for my first win.

After coming from back for a draw against Real Sociadad, havent been going great yet.

2nd match was gainst Villareal CF. Forlan was not playing so I fancied our chances.

Change the formation to play with wide players hopefully to stretch the Villareal defence. CF in Ronaldo. Schwarz paltyed as deep supporting forward. Put Kaka as LMF and Becks at RMF. Xavi and Baptista in MF roles.

Didnt work out. Had a lot of possesion in 1/3 and 2/3 of the field. Last 3rd always closed down. Schwarz had a lot of possesion but couldnt make the best of it, since his passing game isn't that good yet. His balls to Ronaldo were often intercepted or misplaced. Kaka was playing too wide and not supporting play enough. Beckham was drifting in too much, and I think was being dbl marked. Could smell a draw already.

Went behind midway thru the first half, cross came in and Cassilas punched it out, but only as far to the top of the box. Ball was loose, and Salgado rushed in to clear. Somehow he clattered into the Villareal player and to everyone's suprise the ref blew for a PK.

Cassilas guessed the wrong way from Riquelme shot which was driven into the bottom right corner.

Villareal 1- 0 Real.

Angry at the SB's for not closing down the play. Couldnn't find any headway becos was offence closed down tightly all across the pitch.

2nd half got an equalizer. Long ball from MF found Ronaldo at the top of the box with his back to goal. He spotted Schwarz making a run from deep. In one move he controlled the ball and turned the defender. (R2+dir) Shot was not on for him, but he played a delicate thru ball into Schwarz's path. Although Schwarz was being shadowed and wrong-side of the defender, he managed to check his run and intercept the ball (super cancel + cut in). Just in time, although under pressure Schwarz finished with a well placed curler on his left foot from inside the six yard box. Thought the game had changed. After that wasted a few oportunities when Beckhams crosses not converted by both Ronaldo and Schwarz.

Villareal regained the lead shortly after. Salgado was in possession of the ball on the right. Wasted time and tried to dribble past the approcahing forward. Ball got stuck and the forward passed to his teamate in the box. Cassilas came in to close, but the rebound fell to another lurking player who stroked into and empty goal from 12 yrds out.

Concede another penalty when Kompany fouled anotehr player inside the bbox. Riqulme stepped up again. Already new Riquelme style, and Cassilas geussed right this time. He gave us a lifeline but in the end we didn't manage to score.

Real lose 1-2.

Next game against Valencia CF. Real need to start winning. Revert back to a traditional flat 4-4-2. Valencia was swamping the midfield with 5 men. Although had a few chances, both defences were on top. It was a scrappy game with many fouls through out from both sides.

Boring game with only a couple of clear chances but these were wasted by the forwards.Only chances after this were from set-pieces.

Schwarz came close with a powerful grounder after Beckham had layed it off for him. In the end it sailed just wide of the post. Xavi had another FK attempt from closer, cleared the wall headed to the top right corner and all, but eventually not enough pace to trouble the keeper. Schwarz had another FK form central location, but was intercepted by DF on the far post.

In the end a dissapointing 0-0 draw. The fans were not pleased at all and the manager must work hard to intergrate the new palyers (Kaka/Xavi) into the new team/style quickly.

On the other hand, Barca maintained their 100% record and are now leading the league. Real will play Barca in 3 matches time. After that will embark on WEFA matches. MUst gets some wins under our belt to build some confidence before that.

Report after this weekends league matches.

Cheerz all

Yo jiwa, it seem like both of us have the same interest. Like taking WE into real-time football gaming thumbup.gif. Last time I did post before in the WE8LE thread and some ppl just saying I'm enjoying myself putting up story like that... but somehow, I feel like I'm happy saying all these and during the game, I really wish I could share my experience with other WE fanatic fans.

There was a thread like this in Evo-Web.. but in the end it's more like flaming rather than anything else.. those ppl criticising on buying good players shakehead.gif.. after all, this is game.. How on world that Real fans wish to has Stevie G in their lineup laugh.gif.. game make all fantasy to be real tongue.gif

Enjoyz~! cool.gif

Thanks vearn, also post some on evo-web too. IMO there are too many eogistic nuts there who'll just argue for the sake of arguing. Kingpug he.he.

Anyway I just post my experience for fun, based on my my 'virtual' experiece as manager of Real.

I really don't botther criticise ppl, because the point of ML is that everyone is a manager, and they can paly it how they see fit. Maybe just share some tips here and there.

Afterall, I retain Owen in Real, and no matter what anyone says, I'll keep him there, since I'm the manager and I decide. Just like selling Zidane, Raul. Don't give a rats ass what anyone thinks, its my decision.

Cheer mate, and have a good weekend. (I need to find 3-4 hrs to paly this weekend he.he without intteruptions)

Yup... those ppl there got NBTD shakehead.gif.. well, as u said.. it's my decision and likeness to have all great players in my lineup and bench, it doens't give a f**k for them to ruin my fun with the game. After all, it's basically individual's preference nod.gif

Another sad case is in Evo-Web, even patch makers also kena flamed doh.gif *hey, c'mon lah.. they're doing it for free and then kena shoot back pulak shocking.gif*..

Too bad, in my patch and OF, Owen already went to Newcastle and he's doing good there. Although not in the starting lineup, but yet still 2nd top scorer in da league and same spot with Raul. Just another goal to gain the same position as top scorer tongue.gif. Base on my experience playing with Owen, he's good and my favorite pair with Henry in WE7I. But then getting lack of accuracy but yet the pace is still there in WE8 and WE9. It's good if he's already in ur team, but not really a good idea to buy him if he's not. For his value, there's a lot better choices smile.gif

Zidane, really helped a lot in attacking and my key player to gain from Div.2 to Div.1 during my first season with Real Madrid. Although he's slow, but his dribbling skill easily get the defenders out of his way. Not to mention his powerful shoot and also accuracy... can even do bicycle kick volley *oh mine~! shocking.gif --> laugh.gif*.. But then, his lack of stamina brought him down. Fatigue easily and only will be playing for last 2 seasons before retire. So, I sold him to fund for Stevie G thumbup.gif..

In the beginning, Stevie G influence much on the attacking but due to my stupidness, I'm not getting any juice from him with his current position and preference in attack directions. Gotta change my formation.. sad.gif

Still thinking whether to let go Ronaldo and Robinho for other wingers and forwards unsure.gif.. not really helping to get the ball behind opponent's goal line sad.gif.. In another way, I'm glad I didnt let go Ivan Helguera, he's excellent in midfield. U should try him once or twice wink.gif

Yeah the most ridiculous thing is patchers getting flamed. People put in so much hard work, also kena temabk cukup-cukup. Then some ppl got the guts to ask, to change the menu background lah, change the music lah.

As for players, vearn, maybe take a look closely at you development charts to base your decision. Also take not of age/remaining contract time. I also look at salary a lot, since once you move to higher level of difficulty you can't win the league/cups/wefa every time. So, keeping a healthy cashflow is important.

All comment based on my WE9:

Owen, is still improving but will start decline in 2-3 years. WIth good and varied training, I have managed to keep his growth above normal the development chart (ie. he's improved more than he should).

As you said, Zidane is great but Stamina sucks big-time. Even training don't help much. And his contract is going to expire, might as well get something for him, and get a new player with lower salary.

Ronaldo is on the decline, albeit a slow gradual one. You can't help by training, since we can't stop decline i all areas.

Robinho is growing and he's peak is about 25-26yrs i think. So I play him sometimes, but he's not a regular 1st eleven (unlike real life). IN a couple of years should be better.

For new players, (Like ur Stevie G), check the teamwork %. 2 thing to check.
1- The players twk %.
2. Team work rating with other players in Formatiion screen. At 'Individual' either select 'Attack' or 'Edit Position' Then toggle Triangle to switch the formation scrrent ill you can see lines between each player. The % number tell you how good the understanding is between players.

Play the same group together long enough, and the number will rise. As this number rises, in-game the runs these palyers make will be more accurate to recieve passes between each other. Another place you can look at the passes between palyers is the post match details screen. This is a great feature of WE/PES that is sometimes not understood. For CF is not very important, since the need just to finish, but for OMF,CMF it realy makes a difference.

MOst of us don't look at this screen often enough. But analysing your performance is key to getting the best out of the formation/tactics we set. YOu can get so much info here. For instance I once notice that my CF fatigued easily. Upon checking he was all over the pitch, and tracking back too much. Then I realised it was because how I set my offnece and defence arrows. Also Noticed his zones overlapped with the OMF and therefore had 2 players crowding the same space. Tweak a little and coverage was so much better, and he's not tired out so much.

Back to palyers; since I don't play with default ML team, but Match Mode players, first thing I do is look at the development charts. Then Transfer list all those who are on the decline. Problem is in Konami's games, you cant TRADE players that are transfer listed. So keep the big earners off the transfer list and use them to trade. Another thing I dont like is only 1 for 1 trades. I mean I want to get a good player, but I cant offer 2 of my players for him.

Cheers vearn

In the end of my 2nd season with Real Madrid, won the Div. 1 Cup against Manchester United with a slim 2-1 win. Then in the final 4 matches of the league, won against big club Arsenal 1-0 but lost to Liverpool 2-1 *final match of da season cry.gif*.

Thru the negotiation period.. *aiks.. dunno who to buy, so in the end much influenced by Jiwa's recommendations and players tongue.gif*.. Traded a few players, R. Carlos for Ashley Cole and few other players (couldn't remember doh.gif). Secured the service of Kaka (MF), Frabegas (CMF), Chive (SB), Kompany (CB), Marshall (GK) and then my new formation and line up:

------------------------------------ Ronaldo/Cisse (CF)--------------------------
----------------------- Raul (CF) -------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------ Beckham (RMF) -----
----- Kaka (LMF) -----------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------- S. Gerrard (CMF) -------------------
------------------------ Gravesen (CMF) ----------------------------------------
----- Ashley Cole (LSB) ------------------------------------ Chivu (RSB) -----
-------------------- S. Ramos (CB) ----- J. Woodgate (CB) ------------------
------------------------------- Cassilas (GK) -------------------------------------

Substitutes:
Either Ronaldo or Cisse will be on the bench (CF)
Robinho (SMF)
C. Ronaldo (SMF)
Park Si Jung (SMF)
Guti (CMF)
Frabegas (CMF)
J. Baptisa (CMF)
M. Saldago (SB)
Raul Bravo (SB)
I. Helguera (CB/CMF)
Kompany (CB)
Marshall (GK)
*dunno still got left out any or not tongue.gif - really seldom play these days sweat.gif*

moved to 6 stars difficulties

In the beginning of the season, Steven Gerrard was at top form scoring 3 goals in 2 matches. Perhaps this new formation helped in overall team performance. First game of the season against a big club (forgot name again doh.gif) and Raul opened his scoring sheet of the season. Soon later the goal was equalised, but S. Gerrard reclaim the lead with a spectacular left foot volley from freekick (just like the one he scored against Chelsea laugh.gif). Then, into Champions League playoff and once again S. Gerrard showed the value that paid for him during transfer.. Scored all 2 goals against A. Madrid, nearly hattrick summore thumbup.gif.. but sad case is that he's limping off the field after 60 minutes of play - kena slided from behind doh.gif

Stevie G received minor injury and need to be rested for one week. Then played few matches more but couldn't remember who and the score when I'm typing this sweat.gif.. But one thing, selection between Ronaldo and Cisse really crucial now. Dijbril Cisse showing he's good scoring at least one goal in all 4 last matches of last season. However, he's struggling in the beginning of the season but Ronaldo stealed his show by showing impressive run and scored few goals. Yet both of them not really as stable as Raul yet.

A week later, Steven Gerrard recovered and I put him on the field immediately.. (oh mine, what a stupid decision doh.gif), he discovered injury during half-time and then need to be rested for 2 weeks. Guti, Frabegas or Baptisa hardly fill his position. Forced to lost and draw once in the league sad.gif

*that's all I can remember for now, adios smile.gif*

Hm... I did look at the salary (but it's pointless later coz I'll hav a bunch of points sweat.gif) when searching for players but didnt really look thou to their development chart unsure.gif

Thankx for ur advise... will look thru it thumbup.gif

PS2 for me. Its the platform the game was designed for. All others are just ports. However with PC you may get better graphics resolution.. However tuning the game to variety of system specs and h/w config can be a pain. With PS2 just pop in in and play as it was designed.

Must add though, patching is a breeze on PC.

Cheers.

Another additional pro for com, they can play on9 thou thumbup.gif

That's why I'm getting myself a PS2 Controller to PC adapter so that I can use my PS2 Controller to play the game on PC for on9 games. But I'm still wondering thou whether the controls and response will be the same like PS2 unsure.gif..

When talking about patching, there's also a lot of patching work done for PS2.. but so far Reefur (the best I tried) haven't release their patch for WE9 and still in the making of the translation (pretty sad but we couldn't ask for more, they're doing it for free wink.gif).. When talking about hardware bottleneck, actually WE8 already taken up more it can from PS2, that's why the lagging problem appeared.. however, it's then fixed when WE9 released. I'm pretty sad when enjoying WE8 back then due to the lagging.. which spoil the fun a lot especially during corner taking, free kick or in da penalty box.. For that reason, I bought myself a PS2 Network Adapter so that I can load the game into HDD and well, it's much faster then thumbup.gif

No lah vearn, the WE8 is first attempt at online code. Not fine tuned yet. Thats why lagging. With PES5 should be tuned out already. I thought you needed 'ori' to play online, else you get kicked off/banned.

I hate lagging/slowdown. I don't mind if some of the graphics are toned down like stadium banners and such as long as gameplay is smooth. Smooth but not too fast I must add.

As for online, fun as it may be,I feel there are lot of cheaters online, who for me really spoil the fun of playing. Unless can find like minded 'kaki', I rather call my buddies over to my place, and have some decent multiplayer via the multitap. Too bad now I'm in Penang, cannot find any serious players yet. The few that I've met play on PC. If in KL, different story, many of my old kaki there.

Thats why this Raya, going down for some serious WW/PES gametime with my cousins/friends. Got 2 multitaps ready, so should have some real fun 3v3.
