hi im new just got my x10 one day. and im still very blur on it eventough after read the 17 pages here. hi all the gurus and sifus here. dont mind to let me know what are the comon apps that we need for the droid x10?

what u need may be different...
u might want to check another thread, that mainly talks about "must have apps" for android...

you might also want to check the thread 'post your homescreen'... in there, a lot of examples of widgets and apps... u can ask them directly if you like what u see.. some are paid apps and widgets....

but the most important thing that u need to do is ROOT ur phone so u have full control.. app2sd are for those who wants to keep a lot of apps in their phone... like me, i dont find it useful at the time being.. still hav a lot of internal memory space...

Hi, bro. sorry if i m quite blur about the all update things, i mean X10 from 1.6 to 2.1 already improve quite well with its color support from 256k color to 16M and the supporting live wallpaper, X10 also has the best android phone camera and auto focus camera ( look what N do with their C7, in order for them to sell its N8, they make a crap out of their C7 and below camera with fix focus cam, midrange price range with low range hardware ). At least SE still make an effort in updating their support. Maybe its not the phone manufacturer to blame but the OS creator " android " , keep on updating their software with tiny bit of improvement, putting chaos to phone manufacturer. I remember the good old day of phone being a phone without so much hassle in updating it OS.

Sorry if i have offended anyone, SE is still making good phone but just they were unable to keep out with the speed of the OS. Even the money sucking MS, they have Win95, Win98, Win 2000, Vista and finally Win7. They have at least give the user 3 years of time before update. But not for android .

people like me just started with 2.1, and now its 2.3 already?... aiyakk
if i were to follow this fast evolution of OS, i'd probably end up spending a lot of money by upgrading phone evry 6 months or so .. but for now, i think i'll just take a seat and watch from the sideline while i play with my x1

X10 is still 256k, not 16m. And Abundai you dont have to pay for upgrade at all, if only SE will update it to the newest version.

what i meant was buying the latest phone just becos i want the latest OS...
as for now, 2.1 is considerably capable of doings things that i want...

colour is still the same as when when its launched
no colour update was done

its confirmed not google or android fault for the se crap update service

startin from se arc onwards
their own add ons
timescape n mediascape will b decoupled
so tat would ensure faster updates

its not tat they sony cannot keep up wit the updates
its cuz of their own add on tat they were not able to keep up
x10 is capable of much more than wat sony is doin

we were to test out timescape n mediascape for them
our poor x10 can 2.2 froyo
our poor x10 can support multi touch
bt wat did se said
x10 cannot support multi touch due to hardware limitation
x10 cannot hav ant+ support while x10 mini,x10 mini pro n x8 can support

so from se arc onwards
i guess most of the android phones will b on par
since we of the first early adopters r screwed lolz

infact our poor x10 does hav the specs for more things
bt sony wont b updatin it anymore
they wanna push out their newest toys

bt then
i still will use the x10 for a year n more b4 movin on to the arc or some newest models by tat time lolz

guys, I have problem..... How i gonna update to firmware 2.0.2.A.0.24 (Baseband2.0.49) ... When I check automatic update... it says I already have the latest firmware... please help me....... I'm still using 2.0.A.0.504 (Baseband2.0.46)

and meaning we not gonna have anymore update on the os after 2.1? oh no then what for i bought this x10 for?

atrix pawns every other phones in CES. Motorola almost died but android saved them and they are back with their brilliants ideas. the laptop and media dock are just god-like..

well.. they going to start promoting their next flagship already...x10 goin to be legend. haha..
even a low end lg also have 2.2..what is SE thinking...

Then why can't they decopuled timescape and mediascape from x10 and release vanilla 2.2/2.3 for us?

mine x10 65k color 8.1mp

take the photo...

iphone 4 zoom on the billboard and can still see the word on the billboard clearly...
x10 see some kinda of splat color...

I understand your pain , but this type of dropping support for old product and full force marketing new product happens everywhere, Motorola officially announce their update route that Milestone XT720 will remain on 2.1 eclair, Defy will only get an update on Q2,2011 ( only time will tell if that is true ), LG's own newly launch Optimus One is destined to stuck on 2.2 Froyo until an uproar from consumer that they say they will update it to 2.3 in the coming years ( again time will tell ).

Just for sharing, i once work in an OEM company's customer services and support where we take back all those under warranty product and repair it. So in order to support it we need a lot of technical documents from the developer ( those guys who launch the product and make a name for themselves ), and guess what does they reply, i am sorry, i am no longer working on this product, god bless you if you can repair it . Damn..this happen internally and the product is still in warranty ( which mean it is still within 1 or 2 years time frame from it launch date, and the developer is having an amnesia ). Industrial usually move on to create new product with the same team ( hence dropping support for old product ), this is how they earn big money by not hiring new staff, and ironically how we still have a job from year to year.

So sadly but true, all these industry giant's main interest is still aiming to suck its consumers hard earn cash. They don't love us, they only love our money ( and launching new product mean can suck more money ). So, the " dark " force is strong out here.

I love all you guys here . Thanks for all the advice and enlightenment. For the time being, i will use back my trustworthy 8 years old N-2100
