Erm...anyone can clarify again that the Tamron SP AF17-50mm F/2.8 di II A-mount using lens motor or alpha(a55) motor? if using alpha motor means the lens will be quiet right?

getting the system probably next weekend...so just doing the final clarification....

thanks in advance sifus

Christmas at LCCT by zstan, on Flickr

My flight is at 12pm so we arrived at the airport at about 10.45am as we had check in the night before.

However, once we board to plane, the captain told us that the flight had to be delayed as the check in system for the passengers in the terminal has gone down! WTF?! So those people have to manually check in the passengers for TWO hours! Yes. I waited in the plane doing nothing for 2 bloody hours before we take off! =______= The worst part is the prettiest air stewardess on board is stationed behind while i was seated in front cry.gif

Finally at about 3pm, our flight touched down. The Hatyai International Airport was amazingly small though.

To make life easier we engaged a tour guide for our trip and he came with a van to pick us all up to the hotel.

Some street shots through the van:

thanks. i also went the wrong way. i thought one-u got but apparently no.=/ picked the wrong spot for the first few shots also. grumble.gif
anyway, sometimes if the background is too plain, it makes the fireworks look boring as well. wink.gif

______________

At about 5pm Malaysian time, our tour guide picked us up in a van and we then visited the Klonghae Floating Market.

I was expecting that the 'market' were afloat on water and we had to use a sampan or some boat to visit the market but in actual fact, the 'stalls(boats)' were just parked at the shore.

Before we reached the 'floating' market, we had to pass through another night market as well. Many varieties of food and other stuff can be found here.

Pineapples!! As a non-pineapple lover, these fruit were hard to resist as they are VERY VERY SWEET compared to the ones sold at Malaysia. A must try at Hat Yai, Thailand.

if metering front subject, sky blow out..
if metering at back, front underexposed...
like normal pic only..

just back from self poisoning session sending my camera to service and repair at sony style curve.

before that i tried to mount my flash gun and tamron 17-50 on the a55. OMG ITS SOOOOOOOOOOOOO LIGHTTTTTTTTT~~ rclxm9.gif not forgetting that the 18-55mm is also hanging off the body of the a55.

all these add together i still can hold the camera with one hand for 10 minutes without any strain at all!

i may agree that this combo is ugly but the weightage distribution is very very nice and very well balanced. thumbup.gif

AF on the a55 was very very good as well. omg~~~

QUOTE(evilhomura89 @ Jan 3 2011, 01:01 AM)
depends on what you need
do you really need the extra 2MP, 10fps and GPS-tagging?
the extra lens (55-200) is something you can always get later while the features in the body won't be available unless you upgrade the body
*
QUOTE(ieR @ Jan 3 2011, 01:15 AM)
u dont really need the a55 unless u pretty sure u wan geotagging and 10fps....
A33 is very good decent camera already. get it, after 1 year, if u wan go serious, u can always opt of future better camera... having A55 might restrict ur spending tongue.gif

*
on a side note... the 'extra' 2MP means that the a55 is using a totally new sensor (same with the a580) compared to the a33 which uses the NEX-5 sensor.

performance wise the new sensor would be certainly better than the older sensor( THIS DOES NOT IMPLY THAT THE NEX SENSOR IS NOT GOOD)

so its NOT JUST TWO EXTRA MEGAPIXELS!! its a whole new different sensor! what you pay is what you get!

link of claim. i had not heard such thing.
erm depend, u really have to know how to count the stops and very familiar with daylight EV, then u must know how slow u wanted to go. 3 stop indoor is alot... 3 stop under the shade is a lot too, but directly under the sun, 3 stop is little.
*
sorry to say that there's no concrete link. same thing like saying nikon is using sony sensors but we don't have absolute evidence. laugh.gif

but its all over other forums like DP Review and sonyalpharumours. smile.gif

NEX-5 has 14.2 megapixels, so does a33. you cannot just add or remove megapixels from a sensor. that's what i know la. laugh.gif

QUOTE(ieR @ Jan 3 2011, 12:46 PM)
zstan: seriously. i doubt its the exact same sensor... but i can believe that its another sensor design base on it, so is the 16mp sensor. like how the 14, 16, 24 are base on the 12mp of A700.

we has no proof as nikon close their whitesheet tightly. the D90 indeed is using DIFF generation sensor from A700, both has diff codename(from the whitesheet), but still manufactured by Sony and base on the same architecture of A700 first generation sensor.

sorry dude, DP review themself never said so, in their forum is just a speculation without concrete evidence too. they even speculate the Nex is using A550 sensor.
SAR never mention it either, BUT they did mention the A33 is newer better sensor then nex sensor. (they could be wrong and u could be right)

i had not seen people claim and compare the A33 to A55 sensor. so we dont simply claim this that ler... it will mislead people or this speculation end up with SAR/DPreview and mislead the WORLD. =.=
*
i didn't claim anything la. laugh.gif but some reports and reader comments shows that a55 is slightly cleaner at high iso(iso 3200) than the a33. about half a stop better.

my point is, and what i believe and read from is, a33 and a55 have different sensors. so by saying that a55 is 'only 2 megapixels better & got gps compared to the a33' is really undervaluing the a55. laugh.gif

and yes, i could be totally wrong. smile.gif

the a33 and a55 uses the same Exmor™ APS HD CMOS Sensor. it's just with different pixel densities.

multi segment metering works well for me. smile.gif

Light meter is usually used for studio shots or those big big big group shots where they use multiple softboxes and lightings.
