i'm not really brand-specific. i just feel that the 17-70mm lens suits my needs and should compliment my 18-55 kit lens. i was aiming for the SAL18250 telephoto lens instead but i foresee that i'll just under-utilize it. if tamron offers a similar 17-70mm f2.8 lens, then i do not mind.

zstan: it states that it's "new" on Sigma's website. i think it's the non-OS, non-HSM model that was discontinued.

get better shutter speed will not capture ur handshake, so u can use manual 1/160 with F8 and shoot, use the flash TTL should be sufficient. u can bump ur iso if u wish.
