You have DA MasterCard right ? When the bill comes next time, do not pay it. Instead, apply for BT with HSBC. HSBC will pay for you and you will pay HSBC back in installment for 6 months. Assume if you apply for the 0% HSBC BT before 15 Jan 2011.

but then, whats the benefits for me to do the BT? sweat.gif
even hsbc didnt sms me the promo  laugh.gif
So you don't have to pay so soon. You can keep your funds in FD earning interest first. After all, it is not like you will have to pay more to the bank later on.

Alternatively, use your HSBC credit card more and do a BT to DA. DA offer a longer interest free repayment period after all smile.gif

Not the best but among the best. CIMB/DA have been offering 0% BT for 12 months for quite some time already.

I am not exactly sure where to post this. Anyhow, you can also make credit card payment using your Citibank VISA debit card at any local banks' and Al-Rajhi's ATM when they introduce this service next year.

QUOTE
CITIBANK JOINS MEPS NETWORK

CITIBANK Bhd has signed an agreement with Malaysian Electronic Payment System Sdn Bhd (MEPS) to become part of the MEPS network enabling its customers access to 9,600 automated teller machines (ATMs) at over 2,000 locations nationwide.

The service will be available early 2011 and will include cash withdrawals, balance inquiries, loan repayments and inter-bank ATM funds transfers.

"With this partnership, Citibank will bring to its clients' convenience, flexibility and access across Malaysia, further expanding its distribution network," said Citibank in a statement today.

This was in line with the government's efforts to create a more efficient and robust payment system in the country, it added.

Not really. I am sure people like Winner, Gen-X etc. all have a clean sheet record too and all of them got it smile.gif

No surprises there. One of OCBC core values is "prudent risk taking". The other prudent lender HSBC has "conservative lending policy" as their values...they really hammer this into their employees brains.
Add Public Bank to the list. This is why they have the lowest NPL in Malaysia rclxms.gif

May be ... may be not. I had only one card when i applied for the OCBC credit card and still got rejected too.

hsbc amanah visa gold:

1. low requirement salary - 24k/year
2. free for life with 12x swipe/year.
3. 0.5% cashback for all local spending.

just for comparison with hsbc normal visa gold:

1. requirement salary - 40k/year.
2. swipe rm1 = 1 point. to redeem rm50, its 12500 points @ swipe rm12,500.

while for hsbc amanah, swipe rm12500 can get back rm62.50 (extra rm12.50)
This card might give a big headache to you if you're a non-Muslim.

QUOTE(yhtan @ Dec 21 2010, 06:06 PM)
does this mean using Citibank ATM card withdraw money on Maybank ATM will impose RM1 charge instead of RM8 charge?
Yes.

By the way, you will be charged RM10 each time you withdraw cash at non-Citibank ATM and not RM8.

Based on your comparison, SCB Business Visa Platinum is much better choice ;-)
Are ChoicePoints earned from SCB Mastercard Platinum can be use for cash redemption (5000 ChoicePoints) against SCB Business Visa Platinum
Why not consider Alliance Bank VISA Platinum or Alliance Bank Platinum MasterCard ? The first RM500 charged to your card every month will get you at least 1.02% cash back. This cash back will continue to increase as you spend more. The cash back however, is capped at up to a maximum spending on retail purchases of RM5,000/month only. Any amount spent after reaching RM5,000 in a month, you will earn only Timeless Bonus Point. You will get at least 2.42% cash back on the last RM2450 charged to the card (out of RM5,000).

QUOTE(erry- @ Dec 22 2010, 01:40 AM)
btw, look for their annual fee too.

hlb essentials: rm100 or free with 2x swipe/month.
scb biz plat: rm300
scb biz gold: rm200
Every newly approved Standard Chartered credit card comes with an auto fee waiver for 2 years. After that you will have to call in once a year.

Hi,

I want to share with all of you the terms and conditions of complimentary travel insurance coverage & Purchase Protection Plan courtesy by Stan Chart.

This information is not available elsewhere. I inquired and got reply from the insurer MSIG Malaysia.
[attachmentid=1952165]
The benefit and coverage is almost identical to HSBC Amanah Takaful credit card insurance. I wondered if anyone has made a claim from your bank before ?

Based on the below example table from Alliance's website,
If we spend RM3000 using Alliance Bank VISA/Mastercard Platinum, we get back a total of RM28.75, which equivalent to 0.96% cashback.
Don't forget to factor in the timeless bonus points you can use to redeem shopping voucher. The final cash back (inclusive of the shopping voucher redeemed) can be as many as 1.38%.

Platinum. I can't seem to find the complimentary travel insurance for loss of luggage, missed flight, delayed flight etc.

Ah, thanks. I did not notice that. Any idea if our luggage is lost for more than 6 hours on a domestic flight, are we still eligible to make the claim ? I know it is not possible with many other credit cards from other banks such as HSBC and Standard Chartered as they only cover it if it happens when you're abroad.

what is the max amount we can claim if our luggage is lost? Say, my trip Kuching to KL.
The problem is now we do not even know if that incident took place in Malaysia, are we still covered ?

QUOTE(persistence85 @ Dec 22 2010, 10:21 AM)
i thought if ur CL is Rm3k, then u want swipe Rm3.1k, even RM100 more your transaction will be rejected?? or in what case, the transaction will over limit? call CS to for the over limit transaction?
No. The transaction can still go through. I tried this a few times before with CIMB Gold MasterCard and Maybankard Gold AMEX 2 years ago.

QUOTE(chemistry @ Dec 22 2010, 12:02 PM)
I think he meant "Even though the bank let you through, there is an over-limit fee awaiting you".
A permanent CL increase is the best solution.
CIMB Bank and Maybank will not charge you over-limit fee if you do it as such. I mean deposit some money into your credit card account first before swiping it to make sure you have enough limit.

By the way, last time CIMB Bank rejected my transaction when i did not have sufficient credit line. Tried it twice and just about 2 minutes later, a CIMB Bank officer called my mom telling her she had only RMxxxx of credit line left in the card. So i guess certain banks will just not let the payment to go through if you have insufficient credit line which is better in my opinion. I do not want to be shocked with RMxx for over-limit fee sweat.gif

QUOTE(alexwsk @ Dec 22 2010, 12:02 PM)
no, the transaction will not go thru
Yes. The transaction will still go through. Tried it with Maybankard Gold AMEX and CIMB Bank Gold MasterCard.

QUOTE(alexwsk @ Dec 22 2010, 12:02 PM)
but the bank will charge you let say RM50 for trying to swipe beyond ur CL
No. At least i know Maybank and CIMB Bank won't.

QUOTE(alexwsk @ Dec 22 2010, 12:02 PM)
if the bank let the transaction go thru, you might also need to pay the above fee
No. Not with Maybank and CIMB Bank.

You do meet HSBC's requirement for a Classic Card but the chance may be slim as you had no other credit card. HSBC is known to be very reluctant to approve the first card to people that are still new to credit card. May be you can try CIMB Bank ? They do have many offers going on thumbup.gif

First, you need to charge the all the tickets to your credit card order to make sure your trip is insured. Second, it covers only you and your immediate family members (written so in the MSIG and HSBC Takaful prospectus).

Too bad i do not have a Standard Chartered credit card either sad.gif

QUOTE(chemistry @ Dec 23 2010, 02:50 PM)
Btw, Miles bro, why did you use HSBC card? (RM30+5900pts)/RM5900 is just 0.9X% cashback. doesn't your Citibank card offer better benefit?
The cash back i got for charging RM5,900 into my HSBC MasterCard is equivalent to about 0.43% only assume that i redeem for a RM50 Watson voucher with 11,500 HSBC Rewards Points. And no. I did not win the RM30 from the current HSBC contest, much to my dismay cry.gif

I did not use my Citibank Cash Back VISA Platinum because this card gives only 0.3% cash back, much worse than HSBC's 0.43%. I do have another Citibank credit card which is the reward points based normal VISA. If i were to use this card, i'll get around 0.46% cash back (assume i redeem a RM100 Guardian voucher with 21,000 Citi reward points). The reason i did not use my normal Citibank VISA is because i wanted to do a 0% IPP with HSBC and it just so happens that they only offer 0% IPP for HSBC credit cardholders. Besides, i thought i could win the RM30 from the ongoing contest. But then, HSBC simply has too many big fish using their credit cards and luck wasn't on my side at the time i swiped my card cry.gif

QUOTE(de.crystal @ Dec 23 2010, 05:22 PM)
yeah it gives 5% on petrol too maa...
so i think 1st is ocbc tit, 2nd is citi cash back plat..
It pales in comparison to OCBC Titanium MasterCard. I now only use my Citibank Cash Back VISA Platinum for petrol, Gurdian, Watson and all the supermarkets that give me 2% cash back. For all other transactions, i only use my normal Citibank VISA. As for my HSBC MasterCard, i rarely use it now as Citibank requires less reward points to redeem a shopping voucher.

QUOTE(Gen-X @ Dec 23 2010, 06:36 PM)
If you really want the card badly, I recommend that you go to OCBC branch and pledge FD of RM5K to RM10K to get equivalent CL as anything more than that does not make sense since the card rebate is capped at RM50. Don't care about the 6 months cooling period but just apply for it.
That thought did cross my mind before but i quickly dropped it. I think it is quite a hassle to open yet another savings account with another bank. I simply am too lazy too keep track of my accounts from a few different banks. Never mind. I'll wait for a few more months and reapply for it. Credit line i am seeking is RM10,000 only and i will write this request down in the application form next time i apply for their card. I have the tendency only to pay up my credit card bill on the last day of my due date. So i will need RM10,000 of credit line from OCBC to make sure the card still can go through despite there is an outstanding biggrin.gif

Assume i used RM5,000 last month and it's been billed, i wait until the last due date before finally paying up. If my credit line is only RM5,000, i won't be able to use the credit card anymore until i pay up which is why i need RM10k of credit line.
