Indeed it is.

i am staying in singapore but i only own malaysia cc. i heard there will be some charge for using cc overseas. anyone can advise on this? thanks
You will loss in foreign exchange and on top of that, your bank will also charge you x% admin fee for all overseas transactions. You can find this information in the first post of this thread.

Although holding Maybank cards, my income is not at World Mastercard level, yet I receive mailer and calls from Maybank persuading to accept WMC. The latest catch was to pay RM1000 fee upfront, but will be reimbursed in full if spend RM100K.
It shows how desperate they are.

By the way guys, this thread has reached 64 pages in just 2 weeks which is a record ! No more spam please. Thank you !

Try with CIMB Bank. Rumor has it that they are more lenient. You can also try Alliance Bank.

TBP is good, but the point itself does not worth that much as more points are required for redemption.. ie 21,800TBP for RM100 voucher
It is however, still better than many banks such as Hong Leong Bank, EON Bank, RHB Bank, AMBank etc. The points needed to redeem a RM50 or RM100 voucher is higher with all the banks mentioned.

That's what I was trying to point out. Plese don't treat this thread like kopitiam and post/reply unnecessary. If there are too many pages, newbies or people needing answers coming here will get pissed off and won't read all the previous informative posts and just ask questions which have been answered many times.
That bloody jerk is banned from this site already. Apparently it had 3 different usernames here. Guess things will return to normal from now on. That low life piece of trash tried to use my username to sell someone a scanner yesterday. Luckily he, Ubique googled its mobile phone numbers rclxs0.gif

Anyway, Public Bank is giving a steep discount for buying a Samsung LED TV from its online website now. 30% off on all Samsung 5 Series LED TV. This is definitely a very good deal ! All you need is either a Public Bank debit card or credit card thumbup.gif Don't miss this opportunity ! Logon to PBBEMALL for more information.

Yet another foreign bank joining the MEPS ATM network. Currently, Standard Chartered Bank Priority Banking customers enjoy fee free withdrawals at the House network. I wondered if Priority Banking customers will also enjoy fee free withdrawals at MEPS ATM too ...

QUOTE
StanChart joins MEPS network

KUALA LUMPUR: Standard Chartered Bank Malaysia Bhd has joined the Malaysian Electronic Payment System (MEPS) Shared ATM Network to provide its customers with the convenience of making interbank cash withdrawals and balance inquiries at all ATM machines nationwide.

The service would be available early next year, the bank said in a statement yesterday.

It said customers would be able to perform interbank cash withdrawals and balance inquiries at more than 10,000 ATMs nationwide.

Yet another 3 major foreign banks confirmed to join the MEPS ATM Network. House ATM Network would officially become obsolete next year. This will give everyone more choices to make their credit card payments.

Basically, this means all the 5 major foreign banks (HSBC, OCBC, Standard Chartered, UOB & Citibank) will be on the MEPS ATM Network next year. Hopefully Standard Chartered Priority Banking customers won't have to pay a fee when withdrawing money from the MEPS ATM Network. This will definitely make Standard Chartered Priority Banking very attractive !

MilesAndMore here we meet again hahahahaha as i may upgrade myself to CC, alot of things will be easier to get if someone had a CC...

Nice too see you here again biggrin.gif

QUOTE(sam325 @ Dec 28 2010, 02:27 AM)
any way lets get to the point...

i read about Citibank-Shell CC and as i understood that its good for me... as i use shell and "interested in purchasing stuff by installment"

so depending on your experience and i mean all of you guys... is that card any good... and how easy for a foreigner to apply for such a card... baring in mind that my annual income is slightly over 20k...

please advice guys
Besides Citibank SHELL VISA, you may also want to consider RHB Travel Money as suggested by erry. But if you need a card that widely available for 0% installment plan, then i guess Citibank does have an edge here.

QUOTE(ronnie @ Dec 28 2010, 02:52 AM)
@sam325: What I hate about Citibank Shell Card/Citibank Cash-Back Platinum is that the cash rebate need to accumulate up to RM50 before Citibank credit back to your account.

Go for OCBC Titanium ;-) which offers monthly cashback of 5% on petrol (credited monthly basis)
I plan to cancel my Citibank Cash Back VISA Platinum next year ... if i can get the OCBC Titinium MasterCard. Will still keep the other Citibank normal VISA though biggrin.gif

AmBank never impressed me, neither bad nor good. I think one of their advantage is ATM at 7-11, ha ha.

Now many banks are doing 0% BT, but AmBank still keep quiet. However, its 36months 0% flexi pay is indeed appealing to shoppers.
I hope BNM will relax the foreign ownership rules so ANZ can takeover AMBank laugh.gif

other bank that offer gst waiver with points:

hsbc: 9,500 points. swipe oversea get 3x. so if swipe oversea, only need around rm3200.
The 3x HSBC Rewards Points for overseas spending are given on a first come first served basis with limited 3x HSBC Rewards Points to be given away. HSBC has so many big fish using their card. I am sure it has reached its quota many months ago.

Btw, anybody heard of CIMB Visa/World that offered 15% in KLIA duty free?
Yes. It's been going on for a while. However, this offer is not applicable at all the duty free outlets in KLIA.

QUOTE(ed1torz @ Dec 28 2010, 04:54 PM)
When I checked on the website, it mentioned promo end 31st Dec 2010. Is that mean, by 1st of Jan 2011, there won't be such promo nemore?
They have brought such promotion back many times since 2008. I won't be surprised if they bring this particular promotion back a while after the current promotion ended.

6.99% p.a is balance transfer (without via installment).

still... among the highest sweat.gif
But the website says 6.99% is for 12-month installment.

It is written clearly there that both schemes are to be repaid on installment. Just different in the repayment period and interest charged only.

Do update us the exchange rate of RHB Bank if you happen to use it overseas.

I only found out about this last night. I booked the room at Park Taipei Hotel for US$405.80 through Expedia. I just check with Agoda just now and was quoted US$474.24 for four nights at the same hotel. Is the price quoted in Agoda after discount or what ? Even after the 7% discount, it is still more expensive than Expedia.

Anyway, i need to know if the price quoted in Agoda is after discount or not because i want to book a hotel room in Hong Kong next. Please let me know soon. Thanks in advance  smile.gif
Regarding the extra discount for HSBC credit card holders when making a reservation via Agoda. The discount will be automatically shown in the checkout page after you entered your credit card details. See below.
