you can settle in full and then cancel, I think HSBC got no penalty clause. Call up CS to confirm.

not sure it is a good idea to cancel my HSBC and change to PBB Esso CC?
*
how many months remaining in ur hsbc installment?

just go apply pbb esso/mobil coz u always pump at esso/mobil.

for ur hsbc, if remaining balance is more than 1 year, then just swipe 12x/year so no annual fee on next year.

for next year gst,
swipe rm9.5k local (exclude petrol) so can get 9500 points to redeem gst next year, or
enroll in hsbc promo for cashback to cover gst next year, or
get as much rebates from pbb esso/mobil so it can cover the gst for hsbc too

biggrin.gif

my hsbc annivessary is on september. this year i redeem points.
next year, maybe redeem points too, but from september to now i already get rm80 cashback from hsbc smile.gif

QUOTE(Robin Liew @ Dec 20 2010, 04:51 PM)
meaning pbb will waive the gst>?
kinda surprised pbb never charged me the gst on the card anniversary
*
some bank charge 1 month after the anniversary, like hsbc.

pbb dont automatically waived. need to redeem 10k points for gst50. 10k points = rm10k swipe.
or for cash rebate like esso/mobil, swipe rm10k the cashback is rm50 so use that to pay for gst.

QUOTE(MilesAndMore @ Dec 20 2010, 05:21 PM)
You have DA MasterCard right ? When the bill comes next time, do not pay it. Instead, apply for BT with HSBC. HSBC will pay for you and you will pay HSBC back in installment for 6 months. Assume if you apply for the 0% HSBC BT before 15 Jan 2011.
*
yes i do have DA MC and also hsbc.

but then, whats the benefits for me to do the BT? sweat.gif
even hsbc didnt sms me the promo laugh.gif

Currently I'm holding a RHB platanium and I plan to change to other banks that offers better cash back for Petronas.
Please enlighten, thanks

Had you been reading the thread, you'll be enlightened. Not a place to be lazy in here and expect to be spoon fed just because you asked nicely.Seek the cards under OCBC and you are on your way for enlightenment. You are on your own from here, now go to OCBC!
*
be prepared to be rejected by ocbc like me (i also apply using 'clean' plat card 1st time then 2nd time with all supporting docs)! haha laugh.gif

No surprises there. One of OCBC core values is "prudent risk taking". The other prudent lender HSBC has "conservative lending policy" as their values...they really hammer this into their employees brains.

Other banks don't have this as their value so their risk appetite is greater.
But if I'm not mistaken OCBC accepts applicants with clean records bc my friend just joined workforce gt her OCBC Ti recently...
*
just joined workforce compare with no debt/outstanding credit card at all, and paid house and car full amount cash - is totally different situation sweat.gif

like my mom said, for the bank, if ur annual salary is 3x than the min requirement, and u have no debt, for them, no need la to give u rm50 cashback per month doh.gif

QUOTE(persistence85 @ Dec 21 2010, 12:10 PM)
might try to apply next year, see can get approved or not ,

btw, can use ur wife's name to apply?  brows.gif

what is the advantages of hsbc amanah visa gold card?
anybody and enlighten me?
*
hsbc amanah visa gold:

1. low requirement salary - 24k/year
2. free for life with 12x swipe/year.
3. 0.5% cashback for all local spending.

just for comparison with hsbc normal visa gold:

1. requirement salary - 40k/year.
2. swipe rm1 = 1 point. to redeem rm50, its 12500 points @ swipe rm12,500.

while for hsbc amanah, swipe rm12500 can get back rm62.50 (extra rm12.50)

smile.gif

QUOTE(ronnie @ Dec 21 2010, 03:46 PM)
RM120 (posted transactions between 16 to 31 Dec 2010)
+
RM50 (posted transaction between 1 to 15 Jan 2011)
------
RM170 in total.... But this is what CS officer said.. maybe true, maybe wrong.
*
CS officer sometimes can be wrong.

but, at OCBC t&c stated that max rebate during promo period (aug-dec 2010) is rm120/month, and non-promo period is rm50/month.

so if take dec as promo month, max rm120, while january is non-promo month, so max is rm50. that why can get rm170?

i'm not using OCBC, so not so sure sweat.gif

any1 can confirm max rebate is per calendar month or per statement month?

QUOTE(maxguy @ Dec 21 2010, 12:24 PM)
i need some advice how to handle a unauthorized purchase with my lost credit card case.
*
my previous experience with rhb:

1. my card got stolen at 12pm. the card accidently dropped at rhb kajang branch. but i'm not noticed cry.gif
2. 230pm the card had been swiped rm2.5k, 3pm another rm3k, 4pm another rm4.3k (all at kajang).
3. after 430pm swiped rm4.3k, the bank called me to verify (this time i'm at kuantan, pahang).
4. i denied, and just notice the card is not with me. cs officer ask me to make police report, and card immediately cancel/declined.
5. make police report.
6. next day come back to kajang and submit police report together with fraud form to rhb kajang branch.
.....
7. my statement arrived. rhb ask me to pay 1st that rm9800 (which is not me who swipe it) while they investigating it.
ok la i pay coz if not then will be interest. and since my police report is at kuantan, so confirm i'm not at kajang!
8. rhb give me replacement card but i never use it.
9. after 3 months, rhb send letter will return back rm9800, credited to my credit card statement.
10. i ask rhb to pay me via cheque but they refuse vmad.gif
11. so my statement is negative, and i MUST use the card sweat.gif
12. use the card till finish the balance (took me about 6 months), then terminate the card.

this happen last year 2009, that time still no gst yet.

lucky you, you got people proof u that u re at kuantan while the card is swiped all at kajang right? no cctv when that thief swipe ur card at that particular merchant?
*
i did ask bank to check the cctv at merchant where the card swiped, but the bank officer told me, there is a high probability that, the thief - and the cashier - are 'friend' sweat.gif

my card had been swiped at 1x mobilephone shop & 2x car accessories shop.

i dont know how and the result of their investigation, what i know is afer almost 10 months, i get back all my money notworthy.gif

nowadays, even i use my DA to purchase online at 1am for only RM34.xx (after convert), they will immediately call me to verify.
maybe bcoz online transaction, and at midnight.

same goes to HSBC, i swipe rm9k 1 shot and they immediately call me to verify too.
but if swipe 2k, 3k, they never call sweat.gif

even DA, previously i swipe (err, slot, actually?) my card twice at esso pump, they immediately blocked the card.

usually bcoz of smiles card cant be read (esso, credit card 1st then smiles card. shell, bonuslink 1st then credit card).

so at esso credit card already authorized, but smiles card cant read, so i cancel it.
when i swipe (slot) the DA card for 2nd time, declined! sad.gif
i immediately call the bank and they told the card had been blocked (afraid for unauthorized use for petrol).
i verify it and ask them to unblocked it.

this happen to me 2x in a same day! i pump once at morning and again at night.
solution: redeem points till finish and apply new smiles card laugh.gif

(my 'damage' smiles card cant be read at petrol pump but no problem if swipe at cashier inside sweat.gif)

this story happen b4 pbb offer esso/mobil blush.gif
